Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change [from Saturday to Sunday] was her act. And the act is a MARK of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters. — C. F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons.Sunday is our MARK of authority.... The church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact. — Catholic Record, September 1, 1923 ( Ontario ).The Pope is of so great dignity and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were God, and the Vicar of God. The Pope is of such lofty and supreme dignity that, properly speaking, he has not been established in any rank of dignity, but rather has been placed upon the very summit of all ranks of dignities.... He is likewise the divine monarch and supreme emperor and king of kings. Hence the Pope is crowned with a triple crown, as King of Heaven and of Earth and of the Lower Regions. — Lucius Ferraris, Prompta Bibliotheca, volume 6, pp. 438, 442.
For thou art the shepherd, thou art the physician, thou art the husbandman; finally, thou art another God on earth. — Christopher Marcellus’s Oration in the Fifth Lateran Council, 4th session. J. D. Mansi, Sacrorum Conciliorum...Collectio, volume 32, col. 761, translated. The pope is the supreme judge of the law of the land.... He is the vicegerent of Christ, who is not only a Priest forever, but also King of kings and Lord of lords. — La Civilta Cattolica, March 18, 1871, quoted in Leonard Woolsey Bacon, An Inside View of the Vatican Council, American Tract Society, p. 229.
Prove to me from the Bible alone that I am bound to keep Sunday holy. There is no such law in the Bible. It is a law of the holy Catholic Church alone. The Bible says ‘Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.’ The Catholic Church says, No. By my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day of the week. And lo! The entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the Holy Catholic Church. — Thomas Enright, CSSR, President, Redemptorist College (Roman Catholic), Kansas City, MO., February 18, 1884
The observance of Sunday by the Protestants is an homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the [Catholic] church. — Monsignor Louis Segur, Plain Talk About the Protestantism of Today (1868), p. 213.
If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath Day [Saturday]. In keeping the Sunday they are following a law of the Catholic church. — Albert Smith, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, replying for the Cardinal in a letter of February 10, 1920. It is well to remind the Presbyterians, Baptists, Methodists, and all other Christians, that the Bible does not support them anywhere in their observance of Sunday. Sunday is an institution of the Roman Catholic Church, and those who observe the day observe a commandment of the Catholic Church. — Priest Brady, in an address, reported in the Elizabeth , N.J. “News,” March 18, 1903

Bible Readings for Module/Week 2
Parable of the Wheat and Tares
Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
"The owner's servants came to him and said, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?'
"'An enemy did this,' he replied.
"The servants asked him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?'
"'No,' he answered, 'because while you are pulling the weeds, you may root up the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.'" (Matthew 13:24–30)
Knowledge and wisdom
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. (Proverbs 1:7)
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belongs eternal praise. (Psalm 111:10)
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun evil. (Proverbs 3:3–7)
Problem with the World (Sin)
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned. (Romans 5:12)
As it is written, "There is none righteous, not even one.” (Romans 3:10)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
Strength
Strength in God, Not in Man
For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength. (I Corinthians 1:25)
I can do everything through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)
God Demonstrates His Strength in Our Weakness
Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are. (I Corinthians 1:26–28)
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (II Corinthians 12:9–11)
The Strong are to Help the Weak
We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. ...

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

1. The Book of Enoch
1Tim 2:5
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God
and men, the man Christ Jesus;
40:1. And after that I saw thousands of thousands and
ten thousand times ten thousand, I saw a multitude
beyond number and reckoning, who stood before the
Lord of Spirits.
2. And on the four sides of the Lord of Spirits I saw four
presences, different from those that sleep not, and I
learnt their names: for the angel that went with me
made known to me their names, and showed me all the
hidden things.
3. And I heard the voices of those four presences as they
uttered praises before the Lord of glory.
4. The first voice blesses the Lord of Spirits for ever and
ever.
5. And the second voice I heard blessing the Elect One
and the elect ones who hang upon the Lord of Spirits.
6. And the third voice I heard pray and intercede for
those who dwell on the earth and supplicate in the name
of the Lord of Spirits.
7. And I heard the fourth voice fending off the Satans
and forbidding them to come before the Lord of Spirits
to accuse them who dwell on the earth.
2. 8. After that I asked the angel of peace who went with
me, who showed me everything that is hidden: 'Who are
these four presences which I have seen and whose words
I have heard and written down?'
9. And he said to me: 'This first is Michael, the merciful
and long-suffering: and the second, who is set over all
the diseases and all the wounds of the children of men,
is Raphael: and the third, who is set over all the powers,
is Gabriel: and the fourth, who is set over the repentance
unto hope of those who inherit eternal life, is named
Phanuel.' And these are the four angels of the Lord of
Spirits and the four voices I heard in those days.
1Tim 2:5
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God
and men, the man Christ Jesus;
39:5. Here mine eyes saw their dwellings with His
righteous angels, And their resting-places with the holy.
And they petitioned and interceded and prayed for the
children of men, And righteousness flowed before them
as water, And mercy like dew upon the earth:
Thus it is amongst them for ever and ever.
1Tim 1:15
3. 15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of
whom I am chief.
5:7c. And for you the godless there shall be a curse.
6i. And for all of you sinners there shall be no salvation,
6j But on you all shall abide a curse.
Matt 22:30
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are
given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in
heaven.
39:1. [And it †shall come to pass in those days that elect
and holy children †will descend from the high heaven,
and their seed †will become one with the children of
men.
Rev 20:13-15
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and
death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them:
and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is
the second death.
4. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of
life was cast into the lake of fire.
51:1. And in those days shall the earth also give back
that which has been entrusted to it,
And Sheol also shall give back that which it has received,
And hell shall give back that which it owes.
5a. For in those days the Elect One shall arise,
2. And he shall choose the righteous and holy from
among them:
For the day has drawn nigh that they should be saved.
John 1:1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God.
48:1. And in that place I saw the fountain of
righteousness
Which was inexhaustible:
And around it were many fountains of wisdom;
And all the thirsty drank of them,
And were filled with wisdom,
And their dwellings were with the righteous and holy
and elect.
2. And at that hour that Son of Man was named In the
presence of the Lord of Spirits,
5. And his name before the Head of Days.
3. Yea, before the sun and the signs were created,
Before the stars of the heaven were made,
His name was named before the Lord of Spirits.
6. And for this reason hath he been chosen and hidden
before Him,
Before the creation of the world and for evermore.
Gen 5:28-31
28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years,
and begat a son:
29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall
comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands,
because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
30 And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred
ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters:
31 And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred
seventy and seven years: and he died.
106:1. And after some days my son Methuselah took a
wife for his son Lamech, and she became
pregnant by him and bore a son.
6. 2. And his body was white as snow and red as the
blooming of a rose, and the hair of his head †and his
long locks were white as wool, and his eyes beautiful†.
And when he opened his eyes, he lighted up the whole
house like the sun, and the whole house was very bright.
3. And thereupon he arose in the hands of the midwife,
opened his mouth, and †conversed with† the Lord of
righteousness.
4. And his father Lamech was afraid of him and fled, and
came to his father Methuselah.
5. And he said unto him: 'I have begotten a strange son,
diverse from and unlike man, and resembling the sons of
the God of heaven; and his nature is different and he is
not like us, and his eyes are as the rays of the sun, and
his countenance is glorious.
6. And it seems to me that he is not sprung from me but
from the angels, and I fear that in his days a wonder may
be wrought on the earth.
7. And now, my father, I am here to petition thee and
implore thee that thou mayest go to Enoch, our father,
and learn from him the truth, for his dwelling-place is
amongst the angels.'
Gen 6:14
14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou
make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with
pitch.
Gen 6:22
7. 22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded
him, so did he.
Gen 8:6
6 And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah
opened the window of the ark which he had made:
67:1. And in those days the word of God came unto me,
and He said unto me: 'Noah, thy lot has come up before
Me, a lot without blame, a lot of love and uprightness.
2. And now the angels are making a wooden (building),
and when they have completed that task I will place My
hand upon it and preserve it, and there shall come forth
from it the seed of life, and a change shall set in so that
the earth will not remain without inhabitant.
3. And I will make fast thy seed before me for ever and
ever, and I will spread abroad those who dwell with thee:
it shall not be unfruitful on the face of the earth, but it
shall be blessed and multiply on the earth in the name of
the Lord.'
Gen 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the
earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the
LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and
there was not a man to till the ground. KJV
Gen 6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters
upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath
of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the
earth shall die. KJV
8. Gen 7:4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon
the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living
substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face
of the earth. KJV
2:3. Behold the summer and the winter, ⌈⌈how the whole
earth is filled with water, and clouds and dew and rain lie
upon it⌉⌉.
2Cor 11:3
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve
through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted
from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Rev 12:9
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent,
called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole
world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were
cast out with him.
Rev 20:2
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which
is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
69:6. And the third was named Gâdreêl: he it is who
showed the children of men all the blows of death, and
he led astray Eve, and showed ⌈the weapons of death to
the sons of men⌉ the shield and the coat of mail, and the
9. sword for battle, and all the weapons of death to the
children of men.
Jer 33:22
22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the
sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of
David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
Ps 147:4-5
4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by
their names.
5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding
is infinite.
33:3. And I saw how the stars of heaven come forth, and
I counted the portals out of which they proceed, and
