The American Arthritis Foundation is a nonprofit
organization dedicated to the treatment of arthritis and
the search for a cure. The foundation was first
established in 1948, and has since donated hundreds of
millions of dollars to provide care, treatment, and

3. Jingle Bell Run
 One of the American Arthritis Foundation’s premier
events and largest fundraisers is its Jingle Bell Run.
This event is a holiday-themed 5K walk/run where
participants form teams, dress in “holiday wear,” and
pay a small fee that directly benefits arthritis
research. Though the Jingle Bell Run is largely held
in December, the event has also been held mid-July
in Alaska and New Mexico, with the theme
“Christmas in July.” Participants regularly wear
swimsuits over their holiday garb, tie bells to their
