Founded in November 2001 by former senior
U.S national Edward W. Scott, C Fred
Bergsten and Nancy Birdsall.
Nancy Birdsall became the organisation’s first
president
5. Impacts of CoGD
Created the advanced market commitment
program to encourage vaccine development.
Resulted in the “Gates foundation” and five
other countries giving 1.5billion to research
on various vaccines against pneumonia.
Lead debt relief programs in Nigeria and
Liberia.
60% of 31 billion of debt forgiven to these
countries.
