This document provides guidance to second year A-Level students on planning their future paths. It instructs students to watch a video presentation on their options, research universities, apprenticeships, gap years and careers, and document their findings. Students are then asked to map out two pathways - one definite and one alternative option - to achieve their goals by detailing the steps, advantages, challenges, and deadlines involved. The purpose is to help students develop clear objectives and plans to make their goals achievable with the support of their personal tutors and relevant organizations.
There are many misconceptions about career planning that can get in the way of reaching your career goals. Don't let a lack of information or faulty assumptions derail your career path!

Theoretical Knowledge and Professional Practice
To prepare for this discussion, read Chapters 1 and 3 from your textbook, in addition to the Week One Instructor Guidance. Chapter 3 in
Early child development: From theory to practice
provides an overview of the main theories relevant to child development. Remember that the topic of child development can be applied to multiple disciplines – from play therapists, to educators, to social workers. Theorists such as Freud, Piaget, Vygotsky, and Erikson, have been studying child development for decades. These notable figures have contributed significantly to the study of child development. Understanding the basic theoretical tenants will deepen your professional knowledge of how young children develop and how that relates to your work with children. By completing this discussion, you will be meeting Weekly Learning Outcome 3.
Initial Post
–Reference two scholarly resources in addition to the textbook to support your explanations and evaluations for the prompts that follow:
Describe how understanding theories of child development can assist you in your chosen profession. Use specific examples and evidence from the textbook and additional research.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2. “AS a second year A-Level student, we hope that you’‛ve already
started to give your future some thought, and more importantly,
that you’‛ve started to look into all the routes available to you -
to achieve your goals. Within the next few PDP sessions, with
the help of a Video Presentation we’‛ve produced, as well as with
the help of your Personal Tutor, and of course Student Services,
it’‛s time to put your plans down onto paper...and to become
SMART...think of it like this, do you know all the steps you’‛re
going to have to take to achieve your goals???”
“SO the next steps you need to take are:
FIRSTLY watch the video presentation on all your options
SECONDLY make notes below and start researching your future, so you
can discuss your options with your Personal Tutor, and...
THIRDLY – this comes a little later in process, plan the path which will
allow you to achieve your goals...”
ANY NOTES FROM THE VIDEO PRESENTATION:
3. “Once you’‛ve watched the Video Presentation you need to begin
your research into HOW you are going to get to where it is you

“Now you’‛ve researched the four options, it’‛s time to get a little
more specific, and for YOU to actually map out how you are
going to achieve your goals. It’‛s really important that you have
one definite option, so e.g., studying at University, and also a
second option, for example teaching English on a Gap Year whilst
abroad. What you’‛ll need to now do is complete the two
pathways or flowcharts on the next two pages detailing how you
are going to achieve your goals, you’‛ll then discuss this on a one
to one basis with your personal tutor...Good Luck!!!!”
