The 15th International Conference
on Chinese Language Pedagogy
(1st Announcement)
June 28-30, 2019, Beijing, China
The 15th International Conference on Chinese Language Pedagogy, sponsored
by Beijing Normal University and Tufts University, with assistance from the
University of Rhode Island, the City University of New York, and the University of
Vermont, will be held in Beijing on June 28-30, 2019. The 15th International
Conference aims to continue to promote academic communication and cooperation
among teachers and scholars of teaching Chinese as a foreign language inside and

I. The Theme of the Conference:
The 15th Conference welcomes colleagues engaged in international Chinese
language education to submit papers on, but not limited to, the following topics:
1. Interdisciplinary International Chinese Language Education: its Concepts,
Models, Approaches, and Methods
2. Development and Research of International Chinese Language Education from
Interdisciplinary Perspectives
3. International Chinese Language Teaching in Cross-cultural and Interdisciplinary
Contexts
4. Research on Talent Development in Interdisciplinary International Chinese
Language Education
5. Interdisciplinary International Chinese Language Teaching from the
Perspectives of Psychology and Education
6. Cross-culture Communication Research in International Chinese Language
Education

7. Research on Cultural Dissemination and International Chinese Language
Teaching
8. Research on Application of Technology in International Chinese Language
Teaching
9. Other Research Related to International Chinese Language Teaching
Papers to be submitted should be original research work, and these papers, which
have not been published, can be in either English or Chinese.
II. Conference Timeline:
1. By October 31, 2018: Conference attendees should fill out and submit the online

2. By November 20, 2018, please submit an abstract online:
https://tufts.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_eya8X5tmQ9ETxv7, if you plan to
present. The abstract, which includes a title, keywords, main contents, and
conclusions, should be no more than 400 words. Please also provide your name,
affiliation, email address and other contact information.
3. By December 20, 2018, abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by the
Conference Committee and results will be sent out by email. For those whose
abstracts are accepted, and who pay the conference fee by April 10, 2019, the
Conference Committee will arrange for each a 15-minute presentation at the
conference. The abstracts will be distributed to all attendees electronically.
4. By February 20, 2019, those whose abstracts are accepted could submit their
full papers to the Committee for an anonymous review, following the style sheet
of the conference. Papers will be selected by the Conference Committee to be
included in the conference proceedings.
5. By March 20, 2019 review results will be sent out via email. Those papers that
need to be revised at the request of the Conference Committee must be revised,
completed, and returned by April 10, 2019. Due to length restriction of the

proceedings and time pressure, the Conference Committee only reviews papers
which follow the style sheet and which do not exceed five pages in length.
6. Conference fee rate.
a) Paid on or before February 28, 2019: 1) For Mainland China: 900 RMB for
regular attendees, and 600 RMB for students. 2) For all other places: $230 for
regular attendees and $90 for students. Students need to provide a copy of their
valid student ID and an official letter from the affiliated institution as proof.
b) Paid on or before April 10, 2019: 1) For Mainland China: 1,000 RMB for regular
attendees, and 650 RMB for students. 2) For all other places: $250 for regular
attendees and $100 for students. Students need to provide proof as mentioned
above.
c) The on-site rate: 1) For Mainland China: 1,100 RMB for regular attendees, and
700 RMB for students. 2) For all other places: $270 for regular attendees and
$110 for students. Students need to provide proof as mentioned above. The on-
site registration fee can be paid in US dollars or RMB.
The conference fee will cover lunch, dinner, banquet, conference proceedings, and
conference facilities, etc. Once the conference fee is paid, no refund will be made.
7. Information on hotels will be announced separately.
