Making disciples who make disciples is at the heart of the call to follow Christ. Here are some notes on the gap between our intentions and practice (adapted from Greg Ogden's book, Transforming Discipleship).
Tomorrow we are starting a new series of study:
“The New Man” is a seminar that will focus on the spirit of man, its soul and its body.
We will learn the properties of each one of these three parts of man.
Our spirit is called to be the ruling part of us, actually, our spirit is the main part of our being, and is the place where the spirit of God dwells in.
We meet in Room #3 at CTF Toronto Wednesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. I invite you to come and participate with us in this discovery of how to let our spirit become the ruler of our life.

An Introduction to Biblical Interpretation (Effective Bible Study)roberthatfield
While reading the Bible answers the question, "What does the Bible say?," interpreting the Bible answers the question, "What does the Bible mean by what it says?"

Before Christ came into our lives, we were children of darkness. But even as God is light, and Christ is the light of the world, so also are we are children of light. As such, we ought to walk in the light and behave in a manner consistent with our calling. Wake up oh Christian and let your light shine.

In this fifth stage in the ENCOUNTER series I teach on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. One of the most empowering experiences a Christian can have in their spiritual journey.
As I prepared and taught this, I was super mindful of the spectrum of beliefs and experiences around this topic. Even in my home Church we have a series of experiences that are quite different to one another.
That said, I’m convinced in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as an empowering experience available to believers so they are more useful and effective for Kingdom orientated ministry.
I also cover off on the topic of “speaking in other tongues” and how it is available to believers as an empowering and edifying discipline for our discipleship.
You’re invited to head into a deeper, more dynamic and empowered relationship with Jesus. The key is the personal spiritual revolution that comes from the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Paul has explained the wonders of God's grace to those that believe in his Jesus in Romans 1-11. Now, because of the wonderful mercies God has shown us, Paul encourages us our of an appreciation for God's mercy to present our bodies as instruments of righteousness for God. CORE VALUES
BELIEFS&
02
Our Core Values & Beliefs booklet is an attempt to provide a brief summary
of who the Vineyard is and what we believe. Our Statement of Purpose is a
concise affirmation of why we exist. Our Core Values give meaning to all that
we do. They also drive our purpose, define what is central to us, position the
Vineyard in the larger body of Christ, and remove ambiguity in mission. You
can learn much more about our Core Values if you visit www.vineyardusa.org.
Our Statement of Faith provides the foundation for all that we are. The
Statement of Faith is based on the Bible. The Bible is our final authority in all
matters of faith and practice. However, since the Bible is a diverse collection
of narrative stories, poetry, law, and letters, it is helpful to summarize its
teaching in a concise form that can be comprehended by both those deeply
rooted in the church and those who have little exposure to the Bible. This is
the historical function that the ancient universal church creeds played in the
first four hundred years of Christ-centered faith.
It is also important for each community of faith to express these ancient
truths in its own language, and not merely adopt the language of another age
and culture. Every community of faith has two major obligations in regards to
its faith, namely absolute faithfulness to the Word of God, and sensitivity to
the world in which that community lives. This means that the Vineyard move-
ment must express the historical, biblical, orthodox Christian beliefs that we
hold in common with all Christians, and the particular doctrines that are our
distinctive voice, in terms that are relevant to 21st century Christians.
Our Statement of Faith is based on the conviction that the kingdom of God
is the central theological motif that gives definition to all that we believe. It
is a kingdom of God centered theology. This statement is our best current
understanding of the Bible from that kingdom perspective. Our prayer is that
God will bless our sincere attempt to be humble ambassadors of His rule and
reign, and to be a people that practice the presence of God and proclaim His
Gospel, so that His will may be done on Earth as it is in heaven.
For the greater glory of God and the well-being of people!

Center for Spiritual Living
The Centers for Spiritual Living (CSL) is a religious organization established in 1949 by Ernest Holmes. The religion primarily focuses on enhancing philosophical thoughts that incorporate science and religion together. The organization has since evolved from the United Centers for Spiritual Living (UCSL), which was initially recognized as the United Church of Religious Science (UCRS) to the current name after UCSL and UCRS were merged. Holmes together with the Fenwicke, his brother, came to establish the organization as a result of their learning experience in Boston. The brothers were convinced that a person's mind has the power or capability to cause a healing effect or fulfil an individual's life. Therefore, together with other scholars who shared the same ideology, Holmes established an institution aimed at promoting their idea.
In 1927, Holmes set an educational centre in Los Angeles (Institute of Religious Science and Philosophy) where he taught his principles. The establishment of the institution soon led to the adoption of his principles by the graduates from the IRSP leading to the religion's official recognition in 1949. In the early 1950s, the organization split into two distinctive religions namely, Religious Science International (RSI) and the United Church of Religion (UCR). However, in 2011, the two organizations re-emerged and formed the Centers for Spiritual Living. Therefore, the incorporation of the two religions has resulted in its membership growth to over 400 churches in the Northern America.
Kenn Gordon, a doctorate holder in divinity, was elected in 2011 as the first spiritual leader of the organization. However, before his appointment, Gordon had served as a member of the CSL board of directors. Apart from his leadership role at the CSL, Gordon is also engaged in various activities that promote the religion such as educating people to understand the science of the spirit and mind. He also contributes as a writer on Patheos, one of the leading websites where religious matters are discussed. Moreover, he is a regular contributor to Science and Mind Magazine and the author of Mind and Manifestation, a book used by the members of the CSL as a spiritual tool.
Currently, the organization has seen tremendous growth due to the population of its members, which has led to the establishment of 286 CSL centres across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and other 27 states around the globe (“Find a Center”). Moreover, the expansion has also led to the inclusion of 400 communities around the world, which translates to millions of followers. Essentially, the teachings of the CSL centres are universal and aimed at enhancing new philosophical thoughts on science and religion through different spiritual tools. Therefore, the teachings of the religion are primarily based on the science of spirit and mind, which is also known as religious.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

3. INTRODUCTION
TO THE DISCIPLINES
The spiritual disciplines are means by which
individuals and communities can very literally
"practice" their faith. They are tools by which
Christians seek to know God, yield to the Holy
Spirit's sanctifying power, and surrender to the
Divine Will in their lives. The disciplines can be
instrumental tools as we seek to "tune" ourselves to
God's desires and see his kingdom as he sees it.
These holy actions have been practiced by believers
since the earliest times, and are firmly rooted in
Christ's commands and examples in the Gospels.
4. RICHARD FOSTER
IDENTIFIES 12 CRUCIAL
SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES
THESE ARE FURTHER ORGANIZED
INTO SECTIONS: INWARD,
OUTWARD, AND CORPORATE
PRACTICES
5. THE 12 DISCIPLINES - AN OVERVIEW
DISCIPLINES OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
• Prayer - communicating with God
• Meditation - focusing on God and his will
• Fasting - a reminder of the source of all
nourishment
• Study - careful attention the the reality
that God reveals to us, especially through
Holy Scripture
6. THE 12 DISCIPLINES - AN OVERVIEW
DISCIPLINES OF SERVICE TO THE BODY OF CHRIST
• Simplicity - seeking God's Kingdom first
• Submission - placing God's will above
one's own
• Solitude - withdrawing from the world to
spend time with God
• Service - supportive action toward others
7. THE 12 DISCIPLINES - AN OVERVIEW
DISCIPLINES OF SERVICE WITH THE BODY OF
CHRIST
• Confession - acknowledging one's sin
with and to others in the community of
faith
• Guidance - giving and receiving direction
from others along the journey with Jesus
• Celebration - taking joy is what God has
done
• Worship - giving God glory through
attitudes and actions
8. THE DISCIPLINES CAN HELP
MOVE OUR PERSPECTIVE
FROM A NATURALISTIC
POINT OF VIEW ONE THAT IS
MORE HOLY
9. THE NATURAL MAN
• is ignorant of God's ways
• is arrogant concerning his place in the
universe
• is busy making his own plans
• constantly invites noise into his life
• denies his sin
• is attracted to idols
10. ALL OF THIS OBSTRUCTS
OUR VIEW OF JESUS...
...the one who is worthy of attention, honor,
praise, and worship, because of who he is
and what he has done.
The disciplines can help clear the path and
bring us back into line-of-sight with the
Savior. Here are some examples:
11. THE DISCIPLINED MAN
• can know God's ways though study...
o Soaking in Scripture, becoming
intimately familiar with its message
o Learning the history of God's church
o Understanding the practical
implications of theology
• is reminded of the source of all blessing
and sustenance through fasting...
o Abstaining from food
o Abstaining from time commitments
and distractions
o Abstaining from anything that takes
focus from Jesus
12. THE DISCIPLINED MAN
• can slow down through simplicity...
o Seeking the kingdom of God first
ultimately causes the believer to cast
aside anything that is not holy. The
pursuit of wealth and power are the
antithesis of the kingdom that Jesus
models.
• can hear God's voice more clearly
through solitude...
o Alone time with God helps provide
room for silence, waiting on God, and
hearing the sometimes still, small voice
of his Spirit.
13. THE DISCIPLINED MAN
• can slow down through simplicity...
o Seeking the kingdom of God first
ultimately causes the believer to cast
aside anything that is not holy. The
pursuit of wealth and power are the
antithesis of the kingdom that Jesus
models.
• can hear God's voice more clearly
through solitude...
o Alone time with God helps provide
room for silence, waiting on God, and
hearing the sometimes still, small voice
of his Spirit.
14. THE DISCIPLINED MAN
• is grieved by sin through confession...
o Personal and corporate confession
provide a way to confront, admit, be
convicted of, and deal with sin in the
context of a supportive community and
ministers of grace.
• puts God in the highest place
through worship...
o The believer joins with others in praise
and thanksgiving, placing Jesus in the
supreme place of honor in his or her
life
15. CONCLUSION
Each of the 12 spiritual disciplines that Foster
recognizes helps to combat the sinful nature and
our naturalistic world view. They help to bring the
believer into a mental, emotional, and spiritual
state of higher awareness of God, his nature, and
his kingdom. These tools are one way for
individuals and communities to begin to bring
their focus back to the Holy One and seek his will.
