Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage

We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs

Through clinical analytics and intelligence solutions, health care
administrators, analysts, and managers can make conclusions that
assist with business decisions throughout the industry. Medical
institutions that harness the dynamism of big data and data analytics
to manage and process patient information have put themselves at a
contentious advantage as they can identify emerging patterns and
trends more readily. This drives to better business intelligence and
eventually to better decisions about patient care as well as the
commercial side of the practice. Business and clinical analytics
range from statistical examination and processing to data
visualization.
Consequently, in today’s business ecosystem quality information is
considered critical and one of the key determinants of quality
decisions and actions. Right information has become an essential
resource and an asset for companies’ business processes that are
based on the information. From EHR perspective, data analytics
assists to capture data and transform it into essential and useful
information and shoulders institutions to gain clarity and be able to
adjust their business model according to the industry requirements.
Analytics also saves doctors and physicians valuable time, who are
inundated with inputs and readouts charting which is a significant
challenge for them to pay attention to, while the same time can be
used to deliver care. Analytics also helps to monitor patient data
efficiently in real time and thus enables them to invest more time in
better patient care.
With the dozens of benefits of EHR analytics, at the end who is the
ultimate beneficiary: the patients. The use of analytics will ultimately
transform patient care. People can receive treatment protocols that
work for them individually. They can use medicines that are mainly
targeted based upon their individual characteristics and can be made
aware of the risks beforehand so that precautionary treatments and
lifestyle changes can occur.

12. Anotable shift in the healthcare landscape has taken
a place over the course of the last few years, with a
focus on embracing technology and transitioning
towards value-based care. As technology continues its
impact on healthcare, the adoption of new IT options has
been able to reduce costs and increase efficiencies.
Electronic Health Records (EHR) has emerged as a pre-
eminent part of value-based care which not only improves
modern medical practice management but also increases
practice efficiencies and cost savings. EHR enables
healthcare providers to have access to comprehensive and
accurate information which enhances their ability to
diagnose diseases and prevent medical errors, improving
patient outcomes, and ultimately delivering better medical
care. This growing trend aligns the desired outcomes of
providers while substantially improving the overall health
and well-being of the patients. The majority of healthcare
institutions and providers are embracing the evolution of
healthcare records and practice management from paper to
digital, but despite a broad consensus on the advantages
of health care providersthese new technologies, some
across the country have been reluctant to adopt EHRs and
health Information Technology. Constraints exist as they
correlate to the resources required in terms of time and
capital, as well as fears over the disruption of existing
workflow models and operation of individual practices.
Annapolis, Maryland-based RxNT has taken on the
challenge of assisting healthcare providers succeed with the
highest quality of Electronic Record Management and
Practice Management (PM) systems which help to deliver
better patient care without sacrificing revenue or practice
efficiency.
RxNT, a healthcare software solutions provider, offers
innovative practice management, electronic health records,
and electronic prescribing solutions for today’s ambulatory
practices. RxNT has accumulated healthcare IT knowledge,
gathering the best and brightest in software development to
forge a tightly integrated suite of products leveraging proven
technologies in EHR and PM. The company strives to offer
the highest quality products at a cost-effective price.
Meet the Protagonist of RxNT
Randy Boldyga, Founder CEO of RxNT, started this
venture 18 years ago in his basement with the intent to
revolutionize the way healthcare providers wrote
prescriptions for their patients and accessed patient data. He
continued to run the company from his home for five years
until he could afford to buy the first office building. Boldyga
has a degree in Mathematics from the University of
Maryland Baltimore County. He worked for many years as
an IT guru in the Information Technology field before
starting RxNT.
Inception Story
Like every business or venture that has a story to tell,
RxNT’s story begins with an IT consulting firm which
Boldyga started when he was made aware of a newspaper
article that detailed the death of an infant who unnecessarily
passed away from a medication overdose. The pharmacist
misread the physician’s handwriting and prescribed a lethal
dose of medicines to the infant. Mr. Boldyga said, “there has
to be a better way” which lead to the research and eventual
development of the electronic prescribing system now
known as RxNT eRx: a cloud-based ePrescribing solution
that is like no other. RxNT eRx was the first of three very
successful and highly adopted products which make-up the

Today, RxNT has grown to provide a full line of Healthcare
IT products meant to improve a healthcare provider’s
workflow. With the addition of Electronic Health Records
and Practice Management solutions, the company’s
solutions can function as stand-alone solutions that can be
fully integrated to any size of practice.
Mr. Boldyga states, “Currently, there’s a lot of competition
with more than 800 EMR vendors vying for their share. We
believe the best-valued solutions will be the ones that
survive and we also believe that we have positioned
ourselves to be a major long-term player in this space. Our
products are intuitive and competitively priced, and we're
seeing a groundswell of physicians spreading the word.”
Services Products Transforming Medical Practices
RxNT offers solutions designed to maximize the front and
back office of any medical practice from patient records, to
medication management, to patient scheduling, and medical
billing, they have the full suite. RxNT solutions are all
cloud-based and available on iOS Android devices. The
company’s robust solutions are designed keeping in mind
the modern medical practices, clinical and back office
workflow and operations to deliver solid financial results
and optimal patient satisfaction.

14. Practice Management Solutions: RxNT|PM solution offers flawless integration with existing eRx and EHR solutions in
order to facilitate the most complete eHealth solution available. RxNT PM manages the front office (scheduling), and the
back office (billing) functions in one solution. With built-in code scrubbing and ICD-10 drill down technology, billing is a
breeze. Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and an option for a third-party biller have attributed to an increase in revenue
for existing practices using RxNT|PM. The Central Billing Office (CBO) functionality included in RxNT|PM has helped
large practices (with multiple locations) and billing companies increase their billing and collections efficiency. Using CBO,
they are able to access all of their practice locations or practice clients using a single login. They also have access to
aggregated reporting.
E-prescribing Solutions: RxNT|eRx solution processes and transmits electronic prescriptions. It helps to reduce doctor
shopping, forging prescriptions, and medication errors. RxNT|eRx provides prescribers with the ability to prescribe
controlled and non-controlled substances. RxNT’s Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS) is DEA and
Surescripts Certified and contains the identity proofing process right in a prescriber’s RxNT account. This ePrescribing
solution is available for iOS Android applications.
Electronic Health Records Solutions:
RxNT|EHR solution offers medical practices specialty-specific templates which allow a medical practice to streamline and
maximize a provider’s workflow potential and patient encounters. With the ONC-certified solution, RxNT|EHR makes
charting, requesting labs, and ePrescribing a streamlined process. RxNT|EHR fully integrates with RxNT|PM, RxNT|eRx,
and RxNT|Scheduler to assist in running a more efficient practice.
Mr. Boldyga explains, “There are a lot of really excellent features in our EMR, but the features that are making it better for
physicians and their patients are those that add the most convenience for both parties. Electronic prescribing provides lots of
convenience for the doctor and the patient. There’s nothing worse than being sick and having to wait at the pharmacy for

15. your prescription. With electronic prescribing, the
physician can be at the ballpark with his son and
write a prescription for his patient. Meanwhile, his
patient can be driving to the pharmacy, and by the
time the patient gets to the pharmacy the
prescription is filled. This sounds too good to be
true, but it is a reality with RxNT’s EMR through
our mobile iPhone and Android apps.”
Approach Towards Challenges Dictates Journey
Towards Growth
RxNT’s rapid success is due in part to Boldyga’s
personal attributes which are infused into the
company. He is drawn to the creative side of life,
but he is also a fierce competitor. His approach and
determination towards learning from challenges
are the core values of RxNT, which empower them
in strengthening their efforts to deliver more value.
He explains, “We have faced a lot of difficulties.
Early in the journey, the challenges were mostly
related to capital. Next, the challenges were mostly
related to employee roles and responsibilities, but
we have outgrown the challenges in that area too.
Now, we have a lot of what I call real challenges,
they are related to how fast and efficiently we can
grow our business.”
Randy’s advice to the young entrepreneurs
To start an EMR business today might not make
sense because the market is already oversaturated
with more than 800 existing vendors. Having said
that, the Medical IT field is large, and so his advice
would be to find a niche in this vast market and
make the best widget possible and partner with
other companies that can leverage your widget and
you will do well.
Future Prospects
The future of the EMR is going to be more
competitive than ever, but RxNT has positioned
itself nicely and believes they will thrive in an ever
increasingly competitive market. The company
will continue to solidify existing EHR-EMR
solutions with enhancements necessary to support
a wide variety of strategies while also looking for
ways to make solutions adhering to the modern
medical practitioners.

16. igital technology has radically transformed our world – smart phones, tablets, and web-enabled devices have
Dchanged our daily lives and the way we interact. Digital technology is also transforming healthcare because
healthcare is an information-rich industry. Information is present in the form of past medical history, vital
signs, progress notes, medications, allergies, lab data and imaging reports as well as other relevant information, such as
insurance information and even data imported from personal wellness devices. Electronic records make information
instantly available to authorized providers across practices and health institutions, helping in clinical decisions and
coordinate care. It is not difficult to determine the direction that EHRs in the US will take over the next several years. A
prominent and far more seamless flow of processed data within a digital healthcare infrastructure which is created by
electronic medical records incorporates and leverages digital progress and can transform the way care is delivered and
compensated. As EHR becomes more mobile-friendly, it will make the information easily accessible, and this trend will
blast the healthcare industry forward.

Our successes are

Healthcare institutions continually strive to deliver
high-quality patient care and increase profit
boundaries while adhering to a burgeoning array
of regulatory specifications. When hospitals and healthcare
organizations save lives, and treat patients, they also strive
to develop favorable processes and strategies for staying
financially stable. Maintaining financial stability allows
institutions to operate efficiently and use the capital to
enhance the health of a community.
The ever-changing relationships between healthcare
providers, patients, and third-party payers create
opportunities and challenges for practices. As the scope and
cost of healthcare services in the United States have grown,
so have the complexities of the supporting reimbursement
systems, giving rise to entirely new industries in healthcare
information technology (HIT) and revenue cycle
management (RCM). These innovations also pose
challenges to both patients and providers. Through its suite
of electronic medical record (EMR), practice management
(PM) software and healthcare IT services, InSync
Healthcare Solutions seeks to alleviate the stress placed on
medical practices because of the rapidly changing industry.

professionals throughout the United
States. By leveraging advanced
technology, best-in-class partnerships,
and proven business processes, InSync
provides services and solutions that
translate into better efficiency for
healthcare organizations.
The Driving Force Behind InSync
Roland Therriault, President
Executive Vice President of Sales,
manages all operations of the company,
driving its go-to-market strategy and
overseeing all sales activities. His
experience in healthcare and
technology includes more than 20
years of direct and channel sales,
strategic planning and business
development. Before joining InSync,
Roland served as Vice President of
Sales for MD On-Line, a provider of
acute and ambulatory clinical and
practice management solutions.
According to Roland, the healthcare
technology industry is growing
exponentially, with a value
approaching $30 billion worldwide.
“The interesting part is, however, it
still has room for growth, in our
opinion. To further our commitment
and leadership in healthcare IT, we’re
focusing on automation tools and setup
capabilities that will allow for greater
tailoring of the patient experience per
provider.” After all, the future belongs
to those vendors who can most
automate encounters, allowing
providers more time with patients in
the limited amount of exposure they
have.
Distinctive Strategies Making
Clients Successful
InSync is a firm believer that what is
best for the client ultimately turns out
to be best for the business. Placing the
majority of the focus on clients
ultimately makes a company more
resilient. InSync caters to services and
develops products in such a way that
their interests are aligned with the
clients, which in the long-term, works
out well for both InSync and their
customers.
“We’re not competitor obsessed, but
we’re customer obsessed. When you
work backward, you start with the
client and their needs and problems.
This is the opposite of what some
company’s do, which is, they think up
ideas, build a product, and then see if
customers like it,” says Roland.
The company has a team of
stakeholder representatives, from the
owner, to the implementation and
support teams, to outside industry
experts. Everyone at InSync has been
able to combine an incredible amount
of experience in healthcare and an
extensive history in healthcare
technology to create patient-centric
solutions focused on value-based care.
“We aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel,
but rather improve upon the foundation
that’s already been laid throughout
healthcare IT. We want to help the
industry become nimbler and improve
the reaction to any changes the
marketplace may present — whether
regulatory, payer induced or growth
strategies of the practice,” asserts
Roland.
InSync Future Prospects
InSync strives to make a
long-established industry better by
creating patient-centric solutions
focused on value-based care. Through
constant monitoring of how patients
measure up to certain parameters and
standards, InSync’s products will
proactively identify patients who are
due for preventive visits and
screenings.
Roland revealed that InSync’s latest
release will include new technology
and a new theme. The application will
be enhanced with a modern look and
better usability. The clean and simple
interface will be accessible on all
mobile, tablet, laptop and desktop
devices. Easier access to features and
functionality will result in a stronger,
more efficient user experience with
fewer clicks.
Roland shares, “I’ve always felt
software was the great equalizer. Many
aspects of medical practice have limits,
but the only limit to the InSync
application is our imagination.
I found that the idea of delivering an
easy-to-use application for clinicians
is challenging and exciting.”
InSync’s Clients Testimonial
InSync’s integration has been
successful for numerous clients across
the spectrum of the healthcare industry,
including:
“It shows in our growth that InSync
has helped make our office more
efficient. When we started with InSync
two years ago, we had about 150
patients. And now we have more than
650 patients,” - says Jen Robins,
Program Manager, Recovery Works
Northwest.
“InSync’s service is wonderful, they
work with us and help us to cross any
barriers, and continually strive to make
their product better and better, bottom
line,” - says Kimberly Hamilton, CFO,
Wisdom Traditions Health, and
Wellness Center.
“InSync is the third EMR I have used
in my practice, and it is definitely the
last. It has been by far the easiest to
integrate,” says - Dr. John L.Zboinski,
Rhinebeck Foot Care.
24. Adding Mobility toAdding Mobility to
HEALTHCAREHEALTHCARE
Via EMR - EHRVia EMR - EHRn the quest of reducing the bulk process involved in
Ihandling the affairs of patients by the medical
practitioners, and to facility the process of getting close
to hands the information which may be needed at the time of
proper examination of patients, the federal laws governing
wings called for the use of EMRs to design new ways to
deliver and improve health care. Some experts say the
government mandates are needed to facilitate, while others
view them as obstacles.
When you are to implement a secure and an efficient system
to manage medical records and generate invoices at your
office. It will pay off better if you consider going paperless
when managing electronic medical records to reduce the
distance between you and the files you may need at the
moment. Going paperless have the very potential of
streamlining the numerous internal operations and possibly
improve the patient experience.
The Benefits of EMR According to the Experts:
Improved Safety: The implementation of terms in EMRs
has the potentiality of reducing medical errors caused by
outright handwriting. Assuming a patient was given a
prescription by the doctor and the patient is found to be
allergic to Medication, through EMR systems, the health
firm and patient can get an alert or medication may
harmfully interfere with another drug the patient is already
taking.
Affordable Health Care: With the possible implementation
Health Information Technology terms, the costs of health
can be reduced by preventing the duplication of expensive
medical tests. The health care team can easily gain access to
a patient’s medical record in real time to determine if costly
procedures like magnetic resonance imaging or computed
tomography scans have already been done.
Advanced Communication: Medical records that can be
accessed by smartphones, tablets, and computers makes it
easy for patients and health care providers to filter medical
histories, email questions, look up laboratory results, and
schedule office visits in terms of preventive and follow-up
care.
“Electronic health record helps to increase the speed and
reliability in the communication and dialogue between the
health care team, family members, and patients. For
instance, some children who live thousands of miles away
who can benefit from the care of their folks using electronic
health records,” says Salvatore Volpe, a primary care
physician in Staten Island, New York. Salvatore Volpe the
chairman of the health information technology committee at
the Medical Society of New York.
Participative Patients: According to the National
Partnership survey it was recorded that patients who take
more time accessing their health information online were
more motivated to act towards improving their health
(About 71 percent of frequent users, compared with 39
percent of the infrequent users). At Volpe’s practice, you
will find iPads which are used by the patients to access the
internet for their medical records and visit websites to learn
more about their medical conditions.
Improved community health: Health information
technology has been proved to improve the possibilities of
aiding overall health of more than one person but also, a
whole community by identifying health disparities, tracking

25. trends, monitoring the use of preventive care and helping patients to manage issues that tend to be chronic. For example,
EMRs providers can use these systems to identify and notify patients who are due to take actions towards preventive
solutions, including colonoscopies, mammograms, prostate cancer screenings or diabetic foot exams.
The Critical Concern in EMR
It's tough to imagine an industry of new generation that doesn't rely on computers and customized software to keep an eye on
employees and thereby ensure that employees can work more productively and effectively. Computerization is very much
required in the field of medicine as this will help to manage the enormous volume of data that medical practitioners,
hospitals, and clinics create and store for individual patients. EHR software saves time and money, and helps in instant
communication with hospitals, insurers, and referring physicians.
It is very relevant that a medical practice manager or owner of any such establishment to desire the involvement in the
procedure of evaluating the possible benefits and also the drawbacks of implementing the concept of EHR solutions before
total commitment and possibly installing the system in his / her premises.
June 2017 23
26. Insight into The Future of EMR
There is rapid change which is taking place in the health information technology industry, as cited by Dr. Glenn Tucker, a
prominent internist with Attleboro Medical Associates situated in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and the chairman of the
information technology committee at the Massachusetts Medical Society, in his opinion said that some mandates have “stifled
innovation.”
“It will please me to see more [vendor] innovation in the area of usability, and this means how easy it will be for a physician
to use the EMR or EHR system to provide better, safer care that will be more efficient,” he said. “Interoperability tends to be
another concern. The ability to send information, easily across the street to someone who is using a different electronic
system is next to impossible.”
Despite the challenges which the growth of EMR systems, terms and procedures is facing, there is also a good number of
physicians through their resistance is indirectly giving importance to the use of these systems and this will possibly take over
the comfort mind of the new generation of medical professionals.
“Change in this field is inevitable as we graduate to more of the Xbox-Play Station, Smartphone and tablet generation.”
Nothing that electronic medical record is a digital version of the formal method of medical documentation which is “Paper
Based” and everybody is becoming so interested in reducing the amount of paper that will be involved in their work, it’s
obvious that a good number of the health Industries will be taking part in the implementation of EMR and EHR solutions.

28. The Only EHR that
gets Smarter and
Faster as You Use It
PRAXIS
EMR:
The EMR-EHR industry is in disarray. Yes, there are
solutions available out there, but they are all based
on boilerplate, templates, and picklists, and have
decreased the quality of medicine, increased its costs and
driven doctors’ crazy in the process. Here comes PRAXIS
EHR to rescue with its unique AI technology that resolves
the problems with ease.
Many recent studies show that there is a recent influx of
physician burnout, and this increase in burnout coincides
directly with the rise of EHR use. Additionally, EHR
physician user satisfaction rates are very low across the
board. There are 2 primary reasons for this:
Every physician is unique in how they think, practice, and
chart. Even physicians who work side by side in the same
practice think, practice, and chart differently. It’s literally
impossible for templates to account for all of this variation
between physicians, and the result is templates boxing the
physician in and trying to transform them into something
they are not.
The majority of the Big Brand EHRs first started as billing
companies who then used the same technology to develop
an EHR on top of the billing software. Templates work
amazing for accounting. Checkboxes, bullet points, drop-
down lists, and numerous different fields and windows are
exactly what are needed for great billing. The problem is

29. that medicine is not billing, and thus
requires a completely different
approach and technology. By using the
same technology, these vendors have
all attempted to jam a round peg into a
square hole.
With the new government
MIPS/MACRA regulations, the issue
has worsened dramatically. The
government’s overall goals are lofty
and correct. However, the problem lies
squarely within the EHR vendors, who
have not been able to meet those
requirements in a way that will help
their clients and the patients. As a
result, the regulations have made
things far worse. Praxis, once again, is
an exception because of their unique
AI technology that resolves this
problem with ease.
Over the Par Solutions
Praxis Electronic Medical Records is
the only EHR based on Artificial
Intelligence (AI) that learns from its
user and gets faster and smarter the
more it is used. Praxis produces the
fastest charting in medicine today and
it is also the only EHR that reduces
clinical errors. All the other EHRs are
template based; they slow down the
doctor and increase clinical errors.
Praxis saves a doctor on average an
hour and a half per day on charting,
which accumulates to around 14 years
of their professional life wasted on
bureaucracy.
Dr. Richard Low, having an
Indelible Contribution to Praxis
Richard Low, MD is one of a handful
of physician CEOs running EHR
companies. A graduate from Yale
Medical School and practiced both
Emergency Medicine and Internal
Medicine for more than 20 years,
Doctor Low started the company in
1989 to resolve the main problem with
charting, precious time being wasted
by providers. By learning from
hundreds of medical clients throughout
the years, Praxis is today more than
just an EHR, it is a clinical tool that
enables doctors to provide better
medicine, save time and reduce
professional stress and burnout.
While playing his role as a Director of
three Emergency Departments in
California, Dr. Low quickly realized
the importance of excellent clinical
documentation, particularly in a setting
where rapport with patients is nowhere
near as good as in an established
ongoing practice. This caused ER
doctors to spend hours charting, often
remaining in the ER after long and
tiring shifts to finish their
documentation.
It was then that he formed a team of
brilliant programmers and explored
potential solutions to this vexing
problem. “The first word editors
(“Word Perfect”) were already in the
market, and the first EMRs were
developed using these technologies and
their macros in attempt to speed up the
writing. However, they achieved the
opposite. An inverse relationship
between charting speed and charting
flexibility was observed with
templates, one that has never been
resolved using this technology,” adds
Dr. Low.
Dr. Low’s team developed an Artificial
Intelligence technology based on a
completely different approach, one that
values medicine as an art rather than an
exact science, realizing that no two
providers chart or practice in the same
way and that every doctor is unique.
They labeled the technology “Concept
Processing” and the rest is history.
Their clients throughout the last twenty
years have helped the company
solidify the technology, and have
inspired them to develop upon new and
exciting ideas.
Flight to the Future
With a mission to make a profound
contribution to the practice of
medicine, the company believes that
there will be a time when it will be
medically unconscionable not to use
Praxis in clinical practice. Praxis uses
the intelligence of the computer to
compliment the intelligence of the user.
Dr. Low asserts, “We know what we
know, but we don’t know what we
don’t know. However, we are always
scanning for errors and we do release
upgrades frequently.”
Praxis believes that the best way to
stay competent is to listen carefully to
your clients. Doctor Low believes that
there are three kinds of players in the
EMR space: Doctors who spend their
life working with EMRs. EMR vendors
like Praxis EMR, who should spend
their lives listening to their clients and
try to solve their issues and improve
their experience, and everyone else
who neither practices medicine nor
develops EMRS but continuously
postulate what is required in EHR
development to build them “correctly.”
If these third-party usability experts
feel this is a scientific task, why do
they not build an EMR themselves?
This applies particularly to the some in
the government. Clearly if they know
how to do it so well so they can tell us
how to do it, it should be easy for the
government to build its own for all
doctors to use.”

30. edical Science is something which is growing at
Ma very fast pace. For noting down the diagnosis,
the doctor no more requires a pen and paper.
Even the words “Electronic Health Records” are not new to
the today’s world, but the upcoming trends of Electronic
Health Records (EHR) or Electronic Medical Records
(EMR) are interesting.
Even the medical trends like gamification, wearable,
telemedicine, mobile medicine and 3D printing are now old
concepts, but their modifications are some of the amazing
thing to witness. Science will never reach its peak as the
sky's the limit and nothing can stop it. 3D printing has
changed the medical technology to an extreme level by
creating custom prosthetic, surgical implants and bio-
printed tissue. Experts say that the world is soon going to
see 3D printed drugs too.
While one discusses about the most emerging trends in
EMR-EHR, the person cannot miss talking about the
following:
Everything is in the cloud
With the cloud technology, keeping medical records are
much cheaper and easier to access. As per technologists,
nothing is more portable than cloud as it only requires a
computer or a smartphone with internet connection in it.
Research has informed that the on-premise EHR can cost
about $40,000 to set up, but the cloud-based EHR
infrastructure and maintenance costs include its monthly
charges just missing the high startup costs, are still lesser
than the in-house EHR.
The common benefits of cloud-based EHR include the
security factors, privacy, cost effectiveness, accessibility,

updates and improvements to software and the most
amazing plus point is that it is customizable according to
choices.
Providing patient portals
Another most growing trend is the patient portals. It is
something which helps the medical practitioners in
increasing the quality of the patient care and in reducing
medical errors. While a group of people was educating the
patients about the procedure of using the portal, they
informed that the people are interested in using a medical
portal to engage themselves directly to the physicians. This
helps them to track their medical history, receive education
materials, medical advices and patient support.
The portals provide some interesting features such as
prayers for patients, direct access to their medical records,
personalized health reminders and total health programs
such as personalized diet charts, exercise lists, and
medicinal guidance.
Telemedicine is the new medical tool
The dictionary defines telemedicine as the remote diagnosis
and treatment of patients by using telecommunications
technology. Experts clearly mentioned the benefits of this
new medical tool like that with this the medical
practitioners can easily give care to remote and homebound
patients in a much-reduced cost of care while eliminating
the risk factors of picking up new illnesses in a clinical care
setting and providing more flexibility to providers.
Reports suggested that the newly medicinal tool is currently
helping recovering stroke patients in many rural areas of the
United States of America. The adoption of wearable is

telemedicine. And Transparency Market Research has
estimated that the valuation of global video telemedicine
market would rise to $1,624.4 million by the end of 2020.
Building trust on the influx of data is the most
important factor
There is nothing more important in optimizing in operation
through EHR than building the trust on the data that is
being captured as there is always a major connection
between trust, data, and value-based healthcare. Experts
suggest that nothing can be an ideal opportunity than
building a bridge between the healthcare providers and
technology companies. The most important part is filling
the gap with trust between the insurance partners as without
that the stakeholders would not be willing to make data
accessible for one's practice that will ultimately lead to
various issues.
Security remains the main concern
The world is developing at a rapid speed, and so is the
medical technology. With technological advancements,
EHR is improving itself, but the security concerns are
increasing too. As per some old reports, a data breach costs
an organization of an average total of $3.8 billion. It was
reported that the 49 percent breaches in the U.S are the
result of criminal attack rather than human error or a system
glitch. Experts commented that cyber-attacks might come
from outside an organization, but the executives of the
hospital itself are concerned about the security
vulnerabilities created by the employees. As reported by
Fierce Healthcare, “Nearly 60 percent of breaches in the
month of February were the result of insider threats.
According to the most recent Protenus Breach Barometer
Report, 44 percent of incidents in March were triggered by
insiders.”
EHR is no more unknown to the people, but the
modifications within that are. It’s improving living
conditions and better healthcare facilities. Investors might
find it interesting that this sector is a growing sector and
new changes are always accepted. By the same time, it is
also important to note that though all these trends are
growing, it still requires too much attention and massive
developmental investments.

32. Contemporary
Predictive
Analytics in
Healthcare
Contemporary
Predictive
Analytics in
Healthcare
Technology in healthcare has never been more
important than is today, and its role is growing by
the hour. The industry has moved from lab screen
analysis, record keeping, and claims processing into the
realm of ‘Big Data’, machine learning, predictive analytics,
and far beyond. Rapidly-evolving technology is
contributing in significant ways to measure and reduce
healthcare costs and improve care quality. Let me illustrate
with an example from one company, DataSmart Solutions.
DataSmart aggregates and analyzes medical and pharmacy
claims data (and other important supplemental types of data
outlined below) to create a statistically-reliable risk score
for individuals that belong to employer health plans. These
risk scores, produced in conjunction with the Johns
Hopkins University ACG® system, are forward-looking, or
predictive, in nature. The goal of the analysis is to spot
emerging high-cost claimants well before their condition
deteriorates and becomes advanced or life-threatening.
Once risk scores are assigned to each plan participants,
nurse clinicians and population risk managers prioritize the
participants and deploy intervention resources in
descending order, addressing the highest risk plan
participants. In this manner, health care professionals
prevent higher risk cases from escalating into major crises
and higher expenses for the plan.
Lastly, a careful study of the data enables important
refinements to be made to benefit plans to encourage higher
utilization of the highest-value medications, the best
facilities, and the best providers.
Interestingly, Pareto’s Law (also known as the ‘80/20
Rule’) appears in dramatic fashion in population risk
management and healthcare. In short, a small percentage of
the covered lives accounts for a disproportionate share of
plan expenses. Most wellness programs focus efforts upon
the masses (i.e. the 80%). However, in actuality, most of a
June 201730
CXO Standpoint
34. plan’s expenses originate with a small number of plan
participants (i.e. the 20%). In fact, as few as 3-5% of plan
participants routinely account for one-half of a health plan’s
expenses, somewhat regardless of the plan, the geography,
or the demographics of the population. Imagine the impact
on health that could be realized if the 3-5% could prevent
their condition from deteriorating. Early detection of this
small percentage also presents a great opportunity to lower
the overall cost of care. Diabetes, cardiac conditions, and
even some cancers can be readily identified in early states
by the pro-active use of predictive analytics.
A similar statistic of similar importance relates to the non-
repetitive nature of high cost claimants. Approximately
60% of those appearing on list of highest-cost claimants in
a given plan year appear on this list for the first time. In
short, the majority of the highest-cost claimants from year-
to-year are new to the list. This creates a challenge, because
medical and pharmacy claims data does not exist for many
lives on the plan, and even if it did, it would not provide
sufficient data to predict future risk. Further, approximately
20% of plan participants will not enter the medical system
in any given year, and within that group, there are many
ticking time bombs.
To address this problem, plan managers often include
financial incentives to participants to encourage them to
engage in activities that generate usable, statistically-
significant data. Valuable sources of data include blood
screens, biometric information, vision tests and special
health risk questionnaires. As this data is collected and
analyzed, it can serve as a surrogate for medical claims.
Today, leading edge analytics companies have found that
many non-claims elements are less-expensive, more
accessible, and more statistically-valuable than claims
records. In short, the more relevant data available, the
better.
As a final thought, the actions taken [upon analytically-
derived findings] are at least as important as the findings
themselves. Those who lay these risk markers aside are no
better off than a person who fails to follow his own advice.
The scientist James E. Talmage once told an unconfirmed,
but illustrative, story involving “…an epidemic of cholera
in a great city in which a scientific man proved to his own
satisfaction, by chemical and microscopic tests, that the
water supply was infected, and that through it contagion
was being spread. He proclaimed the fact throughout the
city, and warned all against the use of un-boiled water.
Many of the people, although incapable of comprehending
his methods of investigation, far less of repeating such for
themselves, had faith in his warning words, followed his
instructions, and escaped the death to which their careless
and unbelieving fellows succumbed. Nevertheless, in a
moment of forgetfulness he drank of the unsterilized water,
and soon thereafter died, a victim to the plague.”
The moral to the story is that information is only as
valuable as the measures taken to act upon it. Nowhere is
this more true and applicable than in healthcare.

38. Every organization has its unique requirements, for
developing a good accessible technology plan. As
experts say, it requires a few major steps which
have to be followed such as defining the accessible
technology strategy, identifying requirements, designing,
developing, buying technology, implementing and training,
maintaining technology and continue learning.
Effective strategy and requirements will minimize costs and
increase efficiency. And this will be a good start for
ensuring compatibility with available technology, and
addressing accurately your unique business needs.
Employees and customers need to be able to customize the
things by changing font size, color, type of text on screen,
adjustment in text and background colors. They can make
adjustments in sound options with an ability to get audio
information visually such as closed captioning / audio
descriptions for multi-media as well as aurally, adjustment
in timings, eliminating or modifying the rate of flashing or
blinking, alternatives availability for the touch screen
applications, customize toolbars with easily accessible
buttons, sharing of computer while training sessions,
adjusting keyboard settings to compensate for impairments
like hand tremors. For those who use select fingers, one
hand, or no hands there is a need of an operating system
with the keyboard instead of using a mouse. They can
improve the visibility of the cursor and addition of assistive
technology products for particular disabilities. Also, they
can use an alternative kind of mouse because of mobility
impairments.
Arranging Business Processes Procedures, and
Technology
The technology needs to offer ways for employees such as
easy access to websites, use of email and instant messaging
to collaborate and communicate. Also, it is required to use a
word processing system to collaborate, share documents,
manage large amount of data, and for sorting and managing
files and folders.
Need of the Latest Technology to Align with the
Organization’s Overall Technology Plan
Employees have to be able to determine the accessibility
settings and features with the use of an existing operating
system and with the same settings they can access the
system for multiple use. Again with regards to the access
needs of employees it should prioritize. For example, if
employees are finding issues with an existing product then
replace the existing technology with a new one. This
change will help you to determine how best to carry out
your strategy which gives a positive impact on employees.
Technology Assessment Strategy
Preparing for an accessible technology plan, it is a
requirement of the existence of the current technology,
where you can easily find out the required changes in
current one.
What are the basic things you need to do? First, evaluate the
current hardware, software and in-house applications and
systems. Also, it requires to improve options that fulfill
business needs while keeping in mind whether it lies within
the budget, and provides more access to the number of
employees and clients.
There are some good alternatives to avoid the further cost
upgradation. In case of Server Operating Systems, this is
particularly for administrators. We can use custom in-house
applications for less number of employees or the needed
one. Assessing this kind of situation will help you to find
out the risk if that software is not upgraded.

Furthermore, you can compare the extent of the bad impact
and possible repercussions from the same impact to
determine the risk incurred by not replacing or updating the
inaccessible software. That risk can further be compared
with the software accessible making cost. This will help
you to determine the comparison of which software is in

By evaluating operating system for employees – desktops,

Legacy And Proprietary
We need to check whether your Legacy and Proprietary
systems are accessible or not? In case of ordering and
billing systems software used for shipping packages, and
for legacy system mainframe business applications are used

From the last three decades, innovations like personal
computers, the Internet, mobile devices, and cloud
computing have revolutionized the way how people work,
communicate, and get information. These advancements, in
turn, have desperately changed the way we do business.
Increased use of accessible technology proves that it fulfills
the requirements of all users.
Growing number of businesses and organizations from
government agencies and universities to utilities, and
financial organizations are searching for the ways to engage
customers, recruitment, employee empowerment, keeping
hold on their valuable employees at the same time they are
looking for their organizational improved efficiency and
increased productivity.
In today’s digitized world, technology is the core element in
all these initiatives. And to fulfill these goals, organizations
need to make such technology, which will be advantageous
to the biggest possible number of users without concerning
the age or ability.
Accessible Technology is the way which makes it easy for
any person to see, hear, and use a computer. It allows
people with an array of abilities such as for persons with
disabilities, age-related impairments, or limited period
issues. Additionally, for novice computer or web users it
requires to adjust technology as per their individual visual,
capability, hearing, understanding, language requirements
and preferences or to adjust their personal technology
experience.
The leader in all Accessible Technologies, Microsoft always
comes up with its new innovations and products which are
user friendly and safe such as Windows 7 and Microsoft
Office 2010. Also, it is providing other companies a
platform for developing their accessible technologies and
unique products. Altogether, Accessible technology is
redefining the workplace by improving the functional
capabilities and productivity of the organizations.

TENELEVEN
GROUP:
The Behavioral Health services industry is currently
undergoing a significant change. The payment
model is shifting from one that is based on the
number of services provided, to one based on the outcomes
of the services that are provided. When you consider all the
systematic changes that an organization will undergo
because of this shift toward “Pay for Performance,” you end
up with a need for software solutions that can easily adapt
to changing regulatory requirements, changing insurance
procedures, and changing organizational priorities.
For the past 17 years, TenEleven Group has been
delivering software solutions to Health Human Services
agencies that help them achieve their goals and stay
competitive in an evolving industry landscape with
electronic Clinical Record (eCR™).
TenEleven is able to provide a better software solution for
Behavioral Health agencies because the company works to
understand how their customers operate before introducing
the software. No two agencies are exactly alike. They have
different roles, different departments, and different
processes. TenEleven’s implementation methodology first
analyzes the organization’s business process, and allows the
agency to improve processes before introducing eCR™.
With this unique approach to implementation, the features
and functionality of eCR™ are aligned to match the desired
business process, instead of imposing software that requires
undesired changes to the agency’s operations.

The Intellects Behind the Innovation
Alex Alexander, Co-founder CEO
and Gerry M. Speranza, Co-founder
COO of TenEleven Group, Inc.,
are the pioneers behind the TenEleven
Group. The company originally
delivered a medical billing software,
which included a few clients in
Behavioral Health. After talking with
them about their needs for electronic
record keeping, Mr. Alexander and Mr.
Speranza thought that applying their
experience in business process
consulting to implementing an EHR
would be a great benefit, so they got
inspired to become an EHR solution
providers. And they were right.
Flourishing from Bud to Blossom
TenEleven’s major challenge was
learning the regulatory environment
and how the different regulations
impact the billing rules for different
types of programs. “We needed to have
software that was compliant, but also
one that presents an elegant solution
for the end users. We learned that by
taking the time to understand the
regulations and the business processes
of our customers’ programs, we were
able to configure efficient billing
systems for programs with difficult
rules. This process has resulted in
software that excels for programs with
difficult regulatory billing rules,” says
Mr. Alexander.
TenEleven’s Uniqueness
Their unique business process
approach is a real differentiator. All of
their audited customers have achieved
in the 95% percentile in their audits,
with 4 of them achieving perfect 100%
scores. In addition, they continue to
focus on real quantifiable outcomes
metrics. 100% of their software
development are done in-house, which
results in a better interpretation of
customer needs to the people who
write the software code. None of their
product development is outsourced to
other companies. When combined with
their individualized approach to EHR
implementation, the results make a
difference to their customers and are
major contributors to their growth as a
company.
Expanding Geographical Footprints
and Outcomes Functionality
TenEleven is expanding its unique
approach geographically, and is always
looking to improve functionality that
supports positive outcomes metrics.
“Within the industry, we are continuing
to invest in adding features and
functionality to the software that
support streamlined business processes
for better financial stability and better
patient outcomes,” assures Mr.
Alexander.
The future of behavioral health is a
shift away from office visits to Home
and Community-Based Services
(HCBS), and this shift is forcing the
EHR industry to provide solutions that
are scalable to the devices that
providers are carrying. The right
solution, for the right person, delivered
on the right device. As always,
TenEleven is there, evolving right
alongside the behavioral health
industry.
