starts at the beginning introducing the tomb
raider video game and movie and then goes onto
the reviews. The themes in the documentary are
video games, Lara Croft, Tomb Raider, audiences,

(body shape), impressions of her. There is a fast
pace of editing used in the cutaways from the
interviews and videos of the game have been
edited behind the interviewee’s whilst they are
speaking which makes the viewer more interested
in the documentary.

3. FRAMING AND MISE EN
SCENE
Interviewees framed to the left or right of the screen which is a code
and convention of documentaries. In the screen grab where the
interviewee is framed to the right it allows a view of the mise en
scene in the background of Lara Croft in the video game which
relates to the topic.

4. GRAPHICS
Graphics have been used in this documentary through the
creation of the video game itself as it is shown to the viewer
they can see the graphics of the video game. Also graphics
have been used when putting the name below the interviewee
and his part in the documentary in a smaller font underneath
his name. The colour of the font is white so that it doesn’t
take too much attention away from what is happening in the
documentary and isn’t obtrusive.

5. CAMERA AND MISE EN
SCENE
Close up’s and medium close up’s have been used in the documentary
as they allow a clearer image of the interviewee and in this
documentary also a better view of the Lara croft video game clips and
movie clips in the background of the interview. This anchors meaning
to what they are saying as the viewer can see what they are taking
about in the clips. This relates to mise en scene as it shows the topic of
the interviews which is Lara croft all the way through the documentary
either in movie or video game form.

6. CUTAWAYS
The cutaways used in the documentary
are mostly to the video game tomb
raider and occasionally to other things
such as Angelina Jolie in the movie tomb
raider. This relates to the topic of the
interviews and gives the viewer visual
images of what is being spoken about
which keeps them interested. Barbie
dolls are shown when the interviewees
are talking about Lara Crofts body shape
in the video game and are comparing
her to Barbie's.
