2. Observing Scenarios
Scenario #1 Bill and Kelly have been cubical buddies for four years. They both share similar
interest and make time to have lunch together each day. Last week they were both assigned to
do a team project together. Bill is all about the details and facts. He is effective and asks lots of
questions. Most of the time Kelly finds him to be overly serious, she hates when he utters the
phrase give me the facts. Kelly, on the other hand is empathetic. She is very introspective and
overreacts to everything. Over the last three days while working on the project, Bill feels as
though Kelly is not contributing equally. She has been late to coffee meetings; she is unprepared
and has produced nothing. This upsets Bill. He has meet with his supervisor twice to get the good
to know information and is picking up Kelly s work load. Kelly feels swamped with her... Show

3. Samhain Research Paper
Samhain is celebrate on October 31, the name literally means Summer s End. This is a Celtic
holiday that was considered the end of the years and the beginning or the new year. It is the time
that is between time. Samhain was changed to All Hallows when Christianity was booming. But
the Christians celebrated it on May 13, but since this was one of the favorite pagan holidays, it
was not easily given up, so the Christians moved the date of their All Saints/ All Hallows from
May to November first, the day after Samhain. Later in England, the holiday was abolished
because of all the pagan undertones that it had and was not restored until 1928. The reason for
restoring it then was because there was an assumption that all the old pagans have died... Show

The animals I do agree with are the Cat and the Bat because both are creatures of the night, and
the cat is very mysterious. I would not have thought of a dog at all, but more so of a Crow, since
they are also mysterious and symbolize death to me. The stones associated with Samhain makes
sense because they are the colors of Samhain also. And the symbols I associate with Samhain
because they have just been instilled into my head. Jack O Lanterns keep away the bad spirits,
Masks are to hide yourself so the spirits think that you are one of them, the waning moon makes

4. Terrorism In Terrorism
Terrorism is certainly nothing new, it is an unfortunate reality that often leads to violence, and is
not likely to stop in the future. With modern technology, carrying out these often bloody attacks
may not have become any easier, but has certainly allowed the groups that carry out these attacks to
become more effective at reaching their goal. Using the media, terrorists and/or insurgencies can
leverage television and the internet to spread a message that they are both serious, and that their
cause is justified.
Terrorist organizations use the media to spread their message to others, to convince others that their
cause is justified, to show the world what they can do, and that they should be taken seriously. In
Gordon H. McCormick s article Terrorist Decision Making he mentions several quotes by Karl
Heinzen, whom he refers to as a radical German publicist. Heinzen believed that with the State
having the ultimate advantage over the revolutionist, murder [...] must be turned into a science by
those operating against the state, to have a chance. Although Heinzen did not realize it during his
life, the science of murder he spoke about would later include using the media, to inflict the
maximum effect, with the smallest cost on the side of the terrorist organization. One example of
terrorists using the media to leverage their position is mentioned in Boaz Ganor s contribution to.
In Chapter 16 of The Routledge History of Terrorism, Boaz Ganor describes a

5. Invasive Species And Its Effects On The Environment
All of our Earth s ecosystems are fragile. The transfer of energy and the interactions within them
are kept in frail balance by nature, similar to a tightrope walker balancing themself at a height of a
few hundred metres. What would happen if that tightrope walker lost his balance and fell?
Similarly, what would happen if a species arrives at a foreign ecosystem? If a non native species
negatively affects its environment, then it is considered an invasive, or alien, species. The human
society is in crisis. Invasive speciescause the damage of the native environment. They are one of the
causes for the decline in the human economy. The invasive species also negatively hinder our
health. This phenomenon is occurring in a global scale, impacting Lake Victoria in Africa to the
Oak Ridges Moraine in Canada. People are trying to use different techniques to control the
introduction of invasive species and negate their impact on the native environment. Invasive species
are a threat to their foreign environment and should be prevented from causing further damage.
When mentioning the term invasive species , its definition is ambiguous when taken out of
context. It is when a non native organism, or group thereof, negatively influences its introduced
environment. From this definition, any species on Earth has the potential to be dubbed an invasive
species (Environment Yukon, 2014). Thus, an invasive species can be found anywhere on Earth,
and has occurred the moment following the

6. Mad Cous Disease or Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy Essay
Although mad cow disease is always fatal, it is not really much of a worry in the United States.
There have only been four cases of mad cow disease ever recorded in the United States. In every
case, the United States Department of Agriculture has intervened and recalled tons of beef,
10,400 lbs. in the first case to be exact, in order to insure that the meat did not reach the plates of
United States citizens. In Canada, however, there have been 19 cases of mad cow disease. This
differs considerably from that of the United States. The interesting thing about all of the disease is
that the first case of mad cow disease was imported. The first case of mad cow disease in Canada
was from a cow imported from the United Kingdom. Then, the first... Show more content on

With this being said, mad cow disease is also always fatal. Any cow that has ever been diagnosed
with mad cow disease has died from the disease. I, personally, am surprised that doctors have not
been able to at least slow down the effects of this disease. So, without needing to be said, mad cow
disease is a cow s biggest nightmare. The effects of mad cow disease on cattle are very obvious.
This disease is not one in which you see a cow grazing and it looks perfectly fine, but a disease in
which the cow looks as if it has no control over its own body and mindlessly wanders around. That
is because having no control over its own body is exactly what happens. As you may or may not
know, cows tend to stay pretty closely together in a field. Well, a cow with mad cow disease will
not necessarily stay with the herd. It may wander off completely from the herd for no apparent
reason at all. You may also see a mad cow disease ridden cow stagger and miss steps. This is just
another sign of mad cow disease in cattle. When a cow gets certain types of sicknesses or illnesses,
it may lose weight. Well, the same can be said for a cow with mad cow disease. As a result of the
cow losing a lot of weight, it will also become very weak and it may also become hard for it to hold
itself up for very long. Now, I m not saying that any cow that loses weight because of an illness
has mad cow disease, but it is one of the effects

7. What Is The Theme Of Bohemian Rhapsody
With its evolving and unique sound, Bohemian Rhapsody by the British band Queen may be one
of the strangest, most inspired and least understood songs in the history of rock. Released on
October 31, 1975 in the album A Night at the Opera, Bohemian Rhapsody became very popular,
staying at the top of the UK Singles Chartfor nine weeks and by the end of January, had more than
a million copies sold. Freddie Mercury, the sole writer of this song, never disclosed the song s

everybody else, some even talked to me about wanting to become engineers and wanting to
attend the University of Houston someday. They are also very respectful boys, they would help
me carry my desk over next to the teacher and they would help me pass out textbooks and they
would always say please and excuse me. I believe that deep down these boys made mistakes but
they are on the verge of correcting them and eventually getting themselves straightened out.
During my time there I did a lot of observing, helped the teacher grade some papers and tried to
help the students with their work. I also got to answer a lot of their questions and curiosity they
had about college and what it was like. During class there is always a teacher and there was Mr.
Rhodes for behavior purposes, if one of the students misbehaved he would take them out of the
classroom and talk to them. He was also very close to the students, there was a clear bond between

believe that is what really helps motivate them. Some of them

Dengue fever in the Country of Brazil
Dengue fever is an infectious, epidemic disease caused by any of four related dengue viruses: DEN
1, DEN 2, DEN 3, and DEN 4 (Araujo 2012). . The disease is quite widespread in tropical regions.
Most reports of Dengue fever are from areas of the Caribbean, Central and South America, Africa,
Southeast Asia and China, India, the Middle East, Australia and the South and Central Pacific.
Global estimates and studies indicate that each year there are between 50 100 million cases of
dengue infection (Cordeiro et al 2011). These are only known and treated cases however. Health
experts believe that many cases likely go unreported because some health care providers do not
recognize the disease. Dengue fever is seasonal and rates increase during months of extremely high
temperatures and rain (de Araujo et al. 2012)
Occurrences in Brazil are most prevalent found in the southeast region of the country (Nunes
Araujo, Ferrieira, Nishioka 2003). The exact dynamics of Dengue fever transmission are not fully
understood, but factors that contribute to epidemics include greater expansion of urban
populations, poor and crowded living conditions, contaminated water supplies, lack of adequate
garbage disposal, and improper housing (Cordeiro et al 2011). Other contributing issues include a
lack of education among Brazilian residents regarding the disease and ways to minimize risk, as
well as the migration and trade patterns of workers which increases

will help improve the workplace because, it will gain more money towards your paycheck and

In the text it states that workers must be focused to be effective. but yet again it says workers must
get a break to recharge themselves to increase more high productivity in the company. Finally,
workers gain enough energy and motivation to start and finish an objective. I have witnessed it
with my own eyes by seeing people usually waking up on the wrong side of the bed and just dont
feel the need to work, and thats many men I have work with when in construction. But when
there is a length in the time you work from, many men and woman will have the sense of
encouragment to do what needs to be done, instead people usually working an eight hour shift
would not even have any type of grit in themselves. for example in the text it says, Most people
do their best thinking in late mornings and afternoon. This is partly due to biologic cycles of
energy and motivation. In conclusion, I believe that a six hour workday would be more effective
for workers and employees, but most importantly the company itself. Heres why, it will help
improve the workplace, help workers become more focused in their work, and also help the
workers gain more energy and motivation to start and finish an objective. So rather then the

In America, from the early 1900 s to the present, meatpacking industries have changed in large
increments, however, their intentions of providing copious amounts of meat for a cheap price have
lived on. As muckrakers, Upton Sinclair, author of The Jungle, and Robert Kenner, director of the
film Food, Inc., have targeted the American meat packaging plants. They accomplish this by
meeting the common goal of creating awareness for the people of the U.S. about what the citizens
are actually consuming. Despite the parallel goal they share and multiple similarities as to how they

However, my opinions about the meat I eat from the processing plants have not changed in the
long run. As a consumer and thinker, I would like to believe that the food I eat is as fresh as
possible containing little too no preservatives. Despite the fact that after reading and watching the
works of America s muckrakers I know that eating meat without chemicals in it is highly unlikely,
yet I still have not changed what meat I eat and where I consume that meat. The novel entitled,
The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, and the film Food, Inc., by Robert Kenner, target the corrupt and
unfair meat packaging plants of America to create awareness around the country as to what the
conditions in the factories are like, and to give insight about the quality of the meat. The two
muckraker s worked hard in their respective time to deliver the best information to the people in
the way that they consider to be the most effective. America has seen extensive amounts of change

Music has been in the world for so long that it has developed over time by composers who make
music and even try their best to change how the world sees music. Three musicians that will be
talked about in this essay are Mozart, Beethoven, and Stravinsky. Each composer s life is different
from the other. Mozart started out as a child prodigy who was able to play instruments at a very
young age. He later started composing musicwhich he manifested in his head. He didn t need any
piano or other instruments because he heard it in his head and just wrote down the music. Sadly,
though, he died as a poor man who left debts, but his music is still known to this day. Unlike

For Beethoven it is not known if his real father or an adopted father was the one who taught him

father wanted Stravinsky to be a lawyer. Additionally, they all had an influential role in the
evolutionof music. Mozart had a great influence on the music of the Classical period, but he also
helped in the development of the Romantic era. Beethoven was the major composer of the
Romantic Era and helped develop the modern era. Stravinsky, as stated before, was one of the
most influential composers of the 20th century. They also had some sort of distinct way in which
they would write music. Mozart s music, for example, was usually graceful, restraint, balances but
at the same time it could be dark. He was able to create music that was unique. Beethoven s music,
on the other hand, included the pedal, which helped him make it more emotional. His songs would
sometimes have a sort of joyful tune in them, then it would turn darker and sound angry; his music
had lots of emotion. While Stravinsky still utilized styles from the Classical period, his music had

15. Just Society For The Common Good
What does it mean to form a more just society for the common good? I will be examining Dr.
Martin Luther King s Letter from a Birmingham Jail, as well as Gustavo Gutierrez s essay, The
Option for the Poor Arises from Love of Christ. Dr. King examines the facets of social injustice
through a letter that he wrote while imprisoned for a nonviolent public protest. King s letter is in
response to a letter from eight fellow clergymen. In the letter from the clergymen they criticize
King s due process in seeking justiceand his social injustice movement, so King responds with
what I believe to be one of the greatest examples of a man who personifies what it means to form
a more just society for the common good. He does not only speak on his behalf, but he speaks
out all of humanity. Likewise, Gustavo Gutierrez examines specifically the poor in a similar
manner, but believes that these poor people have found the ultimate meaning in life and we
should all seek to have that same spiritual connection to God, for it would make our society a
better place. The preferential option for the poor is seeking a deeper connection to God by
bringing justice to light. Gutierrez and Dr. King both exemplify men who have truly set an
example on how to form a more just society for the common good of humanity. Dr. King begins his
letter deliberately and without emotion, he addresses their first criticism of him, which is him
being an outsider and that he has no place in Birmingham. This is where

Transportation has always been a part of society s development as it continues to change and adapt
to our needs as well as our technology. In the beginning transportation was needed for making war

It should be noted that four wheel drive technology has been around since the turn of the twentieth
century. From the 1940 s to the 1980 s these primitive SUVs changed little as they were rough
riding, back country vehicles used by the armies, campers, and hunters of the world to move easily
under the toughest of conditions.
In the early 1980 s changes in the SUVs began to occur as family sizes grew, gasoline prices
dropped, and more people wanted to head out into the country on weekend excursions. The
growth of sales gradually increased until the end of the 1980 s when a sudden change in car
markets occurred. People no longer wished to drive the family station wagons of days past,
nevertheless they still needed vehicles that could transport many people, but with a new style. The
car market found satisfaction in the sport utility vehicles. Though they were rough and not nearly
as refined when compared to car standards people like the concept. The idea of being able to go

I grew up in two different places. From the day I was born until age 6, I lived in a small village
in Ukraine. My family then moved to California, where I continued growing up in Sacramento.
These two places have completely different lifestyles. I will begin with my life in Ukraine. As
previously mentioned, I grew up in a small village, where everyone had land that they farmed.
Farming was our main source for food, because back then not everyone was able to afford to buy
food at stores. Everyone also had animals, mostly chickens, pigs, and cows. Most families had
one cow; the lucky ones had two or three. Every day, there was always work to be done, we
couldn t just sit in and relax the whole day. The farmland had to be plowed, watered, and farmed,
the animals had to be fed and cleaned after. This was our daily routine. Our family had an old car
that literally had to be fixed after every single time it drove. Our life in Ukraine was very
sustainable. We rarely used our car, so there was very little carbon emissions. We didn t have
electricity, so we used candles and oil lamps as our light sources. Overall, our lifestyle was very
green in Ukraine, until we moved to Sacramento, CA. In Sacramento, we did not have the same
interaction with our environment, because we lived in the city. My relatives gave us a car to drive
on. And back then, in 2000, the cars were not very green, so that increased our ecological footprint.
We started using electricity and using our car more, and

attempt to avert God s designs by their predictions. Virgilimplies that those who do prophesy

Conclusion During Dante s time, fortune telling and sorcery is prevalent in Italy. Diviners and
soothsayers are found in different works of literature such as Sophocles Oedipus Rex and Ovid
s Metamorphoses. Medieval people from all walks of life a shoemaker, astrologer, scientist,
military adviser and kings believe in the craft of fortune telling and follow what the soothsayers
said even if it means putting people into exile and not attending a war. Canto XX mentioned one
of the 7 kings who fought against Thebes, a blind soothsayer from Greek Mythology, a
soothsayer from Etruia, a sorceress, an irish scholar who dealt with the occult, a court astrologer
and a military adviser all of them reflected the practice of the forbidden arts before and during
Dante s time and until now it is still widely accepted and promoted by people. There are
horoscope sections in the newspaper and magazines, false prophets and fortune tellers are found
everywhere in the archipelago. It is ironic that there are dozens of fortune tellers in front of the
Quaipo Church when it is supposed to be a house of God and place of worship, not a place of sin.

The bottom of the claw is transparent to allow visualization of milk flow.
When milking is completed the vacuum to the milking unit is shut off and the teatcups are removed
Milking machines keep the milk enclosed and safe from external contamination. The interior milk
contact surfaces of the machine are kept clean by a manual or automated washing procedure
implemented after milking is completed twice or three times per day.
Milk contact surfaces must comply with regulations ensuring that they are food grade materials
(typically stainless steel and special plastics and rubber compounds) and are easily cleaned.
Most milking machines are powered by electricity but, in case of electrical failure, there can be an
alternative means of motive power, often an internal combustion engine, for the vacuum and milk
pumps because milking cows cannot tolerate delays in their scheduled milking without suffering
serious milk production

21. Analysis Of The Scarlet Letter
In The Scarlet Letter a young woman named Hester is criticized and mocked for having a young
girl from an adulterous act with a sneaky pastor. The young girl will be named Pearl (named Pearl
for having cost a great price). Throughout the novel as the characters develop and change the plot
of the story develops into a riveting climax and an end no one could have imagined. Within the
novelthere are five major scenes that build up to the dramatic ending of The Scarlet Letter. The
scenes in order are the first time Heaster showed her face and stood on the scafell after she was

While standing on the scaffold she sees her husband sho has been gone for years, no one

scene is one of the most important of the book because of the introduction of characters and the
setting of the story. It also shows the way Heaster feels towards the whole idea and gives small
hints for what is to come in the future of the book. In the second major scene of the book
Heaster and now 7 year old Pearl go to visit a couple of the top men in the village such as the
governor, Wilson, Dimmesdale, and Chillingworth. The first half of the story has covered a
space of seven years; the second half of will cover no more than fifteen days claims Malcolm
Cowley (15). Heaster brought Pearl to them so they could ask her a couple of questions about
where she is from. They wanted to make sure she was getting a proper education. Now Pearl was
extremely smart and witty so she knew all of the answers to their questions but decided to
answer them incorrectly. Wilson was convinced and wanted to take the child from Hester,
dimmesdale protects her and says about how no one else but Heaster could take care of such a
smart and interesting child, Pearl then holds his hand and Dimmsdale kissed her forehead.
Heaster also states how Pearl is her everything and would rather die before giving her up. This
scene is important because it shows the love Heaster has for Pearl and

22. Ignominy in the Puritan Community
Yonatan Zeff Thelonious Johnson Block B English 3 Honors October 14, 2012 Ignominy in the
Puritan Community The title of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter refers to the literal
symbol of ignominy that Hester Prynne s community forces her to wear as a reminder of her sin.
Though the word ignominy is used in sympathetic passages that describe Hester Prynne s disgrace
as an adulteress and out of wedlock mother, its use at the same time reveals an extremely critical
description of Hester s community; Hawthorne finds that what is truly disgraceful is the way the
community relishes and exploits the opportunity to punish one of its members. Through powerful
diction and imagery describing Hester s sin and through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this description, Hester s humanity is maintained, even when the community, all of it,
objectifies her as a teaching tool. The image of her heart flung , spurn[ed] and trample[d] upon
demonstrates both the narrator s sympathy toward Hester and animosity toward Puritan society,
regardless of the age of the member. Shortly after his description of the schoolboy s callous
treatment of Hester, the narrator continues with a harsh account of the scaffold and pillory once
employed upon it, that instrument of discipline that represented the very ideal of ignominy (52).
The pillory reflects the nature of the community s sense of justice, and the narrator finds it
extremely harsh. The word ideal, often associated with perfection, suggests that the pillory signifies
the ultimate desired effect of ignominy: public shame from which the sinner cannot turn away.
Next, it would seem that Hawthorne speaks out directly and emotionally to the reader, declaring,
There can be no outrage, methinks, against our common nature, whatever be the delinquencies of
the individual, no outrage more flagrant than to forbid the culprit to hide his face for shame (52).
Hawthorn s use of word methinks suggests his forceful personal address on this issue of cruelty; he
weighs in powerfully against the malice of the Pilgrim community that punishes Hester, even if it
has not subjected her to the pillory. The word no implies Hawthorne s view that this punishment is

26. Climatic Control Of Antarctic Sea Ice Essay
What are the Climatic Controls on Changes in Antarctic Sea Ice?
Abstract
Unlike Arctic sea ice, which is currently decreasing at a rate which may make it seasonally ice
free before the end of the 21st century (Körper et al., 2013), Antarctic sea ice (ASI) is
experiencing an overall steady increase, albeit with strong regional variations (Zwally et al., 2002).
Here is outlined the main climatic processes and factors which cause and control changes in ASI,
studied using both climate modelling (Körper et al., 2013; Li et al., 2013; Vancoppenolle et al.,
2009) and direct observations (Jacobs and Cosimo, 1997; Parkinson and Cavalieri, 2012). In
general, there seems to be a large combination of factors which are causing the regional
variations and overall increase in ASI, many of which are interlinked (Kwok and Cosimo, 2002;
Stammerjohn et al., 2008; Yuan and Li, 2008). This report also highlights how climate models
need to be tested against real life observations to ensure accurate predictions for the future (Goosse
et al., 2009; Maksym et al., 2012; Vancoppenolle et al., 2009), which are important in the face of
growing concern over climate change and sea level rise, in which ASI may play a huge part
(Körper et al., 2013).

Abraham Lincoln was elected to office in 1860, pledging to keep slavery out of new territories.
After hearing about this seven southern slave states decided to secede and form a new nation, the
Confederate States of America. The Northern states did not acknowledge the secession fearing the
final outcome would be a division of all the states, this is where the Civil War began. From 1861 up

market age group that was specified . In which we than got the total from both calculations and
divided them and that s how we got the number of sales for smartphones. In the process of
calculating the sales of iPads we got the number of iPads sold for given years in the U.S. in
which we then multiplied that number by the percent of Florida market share. We finally got the
total sales from Net pads form a websites that estimated that they sale approximately 600 of their
products each year. When we final got all the total calculations for each individual device we than

the creation of robotic life could eventually occur in our own reality. In this regard, the film is
using image as presence by setting up this believable world. However, in the second arena it
makes the audience reflect on the questions of urbanity and development that exist in our current
paradigm, thus inviting discussion about the way human and planning elements are being merged
together in our own technology driven world. These concepts are as relevant now as they were
when the film was first released two decades ago. The camera continually roves over this world
creating spatial continuity that implies that there is virtually no escape from this smoky, polluted,
society. The landscape provides a site for making metaphor about the socioeconomic divide that
characterizes the Blade Runner universe. The skyscrapers of the wealthy are clear symbols of how
the poor are at the bottom of the socio economic

41. Marine Biome
A biome, also known as life zones, consists of all plants, animals, and other organisms, as well the
physical environment in a particular area. A biome is characterized by its plant life, climate, and
location. The climate and physical features determine the boundaries of a biome. A biome is made
up of many different ecosystems. The ecosystems tend to have the same pants and animals as
neighboring biomes around the boundaries. The major biomes are the tundra, taiga, tropical rain
forest, temperate forests, desert, grassland, savanna, chaparral, and marine. Each biome has it s

Some of the animals consist of squirrels, rabbits, coyotes, mule deer, opossums, raccoons,
skunks, foxes, bobcats, rattlesnakes, lizards, frogs, vultures, hawks, golden eagles, peregrine

additional main biome is the tropical rainforest. The tropical rain forest is one of the earth s
most distinctive biomes. There are 3 types are subtropical, monsoon, and equatorial. The climate
has mostly warm, humid temperatures. The annual rainfall is approximately 20 30 inches.
Depending on the time of year the temperatures vary. Summer temperatures are about 95 100В°
F and winter temperatures are about 70 80В° F. Most tropical rain forests are located between 10
degree N and 10 degrees S latitude. This makes the climates for that vegetation found there suitable.
If you were to explore the entire rainforests you d find approximately 1500 species of flowering
plants and 750 species of trees. The rain forest contains over 50% of worlds population in plants
and animals. It covers roughly 5 billion acres of land. There are 3 layers of trees that can be found
there. The first and most top layer is the emergent, which are widely spaced trees 100 120 ft tall
with canopies above the general canopy of the forest. The second, middle layer is a closed canopy
of 80 foot trees. Here light is available to this layer, but blocks out the light of lower lays. The third

John Searle s thought experiment in paper Minds, brains and programs from 1980 is one of the
most recognisable and broadly accredited critiques of artificial intelligence (AI) an idea that
computers are (or some day will be) able to think. Researchers in AI field often make a claim that
our mental activity can be compared to a computer following a program. In such a view human
brains do nothing more but simply process information on a massive scale. The most important
question that Searle wants to discuss in his paper is: What psychological and philosophical
significance should we attach to recent efforts at computer simulations of human cognitive
capacities? (p. 417) In order to tackle this idea he establishes two different types of... Show more

Bartleby exhibits strong similarities with patients diagnosed as autistic in today s medical
community. Bartleby demonstrates the ability to work well when given strict structural guidelines.
A main job of the scrivener is to copy documents. Upon hiring Bartleby, the lawyer states he did an
extraordinary quantity of writing but it was done silently, palely, mechanically (Melville 2368).
Studies have shown that adults with autism possess the ability to be self sufficient members of
society given certain circumstances. Even though they may lack street smarts, they are capable of
attaining their independence by choosing highly structured and regimented life routines (Klin

Life Styles Inventory
Introduction
Individuals possess different skills that have an impact on their thinking and management style. The
style varies from individual to individual depending on their opinions, perceptions, thoughts, and
skills. The Life Style Inventory is a tool, which can be used to analyze and evaluate the
management and leadership skills of an individual. The LSI has different styles and individuals
can rate the styles according to their own skills. It will help in analyzing the management and
leadership capabilities of an individual by evaluating the key skills. I have taken the LSI test to
analyze and examine my skills, which can help in selecting an appropriate management and
leadership style to achieve success and growth.
Personal Thinking Styles The cognitive and thought process of individuals is influenced by the
personal attributes, skills, capabilities, and perceptions of individuals. The personal thinking style
varies from individual to individual depending on various factors and resources. Evaluation of
personal skills helps in developing and enhancing skills so that success can be achieved. The LSI

52. Analysis Of Don Quixote
Don Quixote
By Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra is the tale of a Christian knight, don Quixote, and
his trustworthy squire, Sancho Panza, and their quests around Spain. Thus, I travel about this
wilderness and these unpopulated areas seeking adventures, and I m committed to offering my arm
and my person in any perilous adventure that comes my way to help the weak and needy. (p. 97 98)
Our story takes place in the seventeenth century in La Mancha, south central Spain.
Miguel de Cervantes takes us on this epic adventure firstly by introducing don Quixote and some of
his deeds, and later on Sancho Panza, and the incredible undertakings they faced for the sake of
knight errantry. Our main character, don Quixote, was an hidalgo of about fifty years old with a
lanky figure and a passion for romances of chivalry, which he believed to be true. His muse was
Dulcinea del Toboso.
Don Quixote decided to go out with his horse, Rocinante, to redress all the wrongs and help those
in need as the knights errant in those stories he cherished. He first went to an inn, where the
innkeeper dubbed him a knight. Don Quixote was found hurt by a man of his village and taken
back. Don Quixote s niece, the priest, and the barber of his village blamed those books for his
craziness so they burned them.
Don Quixote decided to start a second expedition now with the company of his neighbor Sancho
Panza as his squire, and promising Sancho that he would become the governor of an insula. Sancho
was by nature a coward and quite fainthearted, he was illiterate but a ludicrous character. Their first
adventure together was the encounter with the windmills which don Quixote thought were giants,
suffice it to say he ended beaten on the ground.
Don Quixote now called himself the Woebegone Knight and Sancho was reprimanded because of
his absurd linking of proverbs. After many travails, they arrived to Sierra Morena where don

54. Saint Thomas Aquinas As A Man With An Unearthly Intellect...
Torrell Review Saint Thomas Aquinas is known by most as a man with an unearthly intellect.
Throughout his brilliant life, he produced many works that have helped defend the Catholic church
s position against many atheistic arguments, specifically materialism. Because of his gifted
intellect, at times, many may fail to recognize that in order for one to have such gifts, there needs
to be a desire and firm commitment in their spiritual life to submit to the will of God. In Jean Pierre
Torrell s proclamation of Aquinas spiritual life, Saint Thomas Aquinas: Spiritual Master, he
addresses the importance and explains Aquinas transcendent mind in two sections: A Trinitarian
Spirituality and Man in the World and Before God. This explanation is done is a similar style to
Aquinas himself, in which, he writes in an ontological order so that the later context can be
perfected by the earlier and visa verse. This overview takes aim and clearly orientates Aquinas
understanding of Nature, humanity, human society, politics, and fellowship through
communication with God and each other. Essentially, one can find that Aquinas thought is not only
rooted in the mystical teachings of the Catholic faith but is very practical and applicable to the
physical and metaphysical worlds. In order to proceed with further explanation, it is import to give
a summary of Aquinas s spirituality and theology, as Torrell does. The reason being, as Torrell puts
it, Spirituality is one of the vaguest terms

people lived in the foothills of Himachal Pradesh. These original inhabitants of Himachal, the Kols

the hills. The Indus valley civilization prospered here between 2250 and 1750 BC. The second

But even at the end of the first Anglo Sikh war, these rulers did not get back their kingdom (which

The British Period amp; Struggle For Independence
The revolt of the 1857 did not see much participation from the people of the hill. They preferred to
stay away from the revolt and infact some of the rulers even extended help to the Britishers. Few
exceptions here included the ruler of Bushahr.
Between the year 1858 and 1914, the hill states of Chamba, Mandi and Bilaspur prospered under the
British rule and even supported the latter during the first world war. The important states that
contributed their men and money for the first world war included Kangra, Siba, Nurpur, Chamba,
Suket, Mandi and Bilaspur. After 1914, things began to change and the people came out to
participate in the freedom movement of India.
Post Independence
Himachal Pradesh became a part C state on 26th January 1950 and a Union Territory on 1st
November, 1956. In between, Bilaspur was made a part of it in 1950. Kangra and other hill states
were merged into the Union territory of Himachal Pradesh in the year 1966. Finally, four years
