This document defines and describes different types of texts: Descriptive texts create a picture of a person, place, thing or event by describing senses. Narrative texts tell a story by recounting a series of events in chronological order. Explanatory texts provide explanations of a specific topic, giving facts, reasons and examples to support conclusions. Procedural texts give step-by-step instructions on how to complete a task. Argumentative texts attempt to present and explain an issue or case, and give reasons and evidence to prove or refute a point.
