The STaR Chart is a tool developed by the Texas Education Agency to assess school districts' progress in four areas of technology based on the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology. Teachers evaluate their own use of technology in the classroom across teaching and learning, educator preparation, leadership and support, and infrastructure. Shotwell's scores from 2009-2010 showed advanced progress in teaching and learning and leadership but developing progress in educator preparation and infrastructure. The data from the STaR Chart is used for planning staff development, budgeting, lesson planning, and infrastructure improvements.
