- 2. INDICATION:- This view is done to see the junction of temporal and mandible. To see RTA (road traffic accident) Any degenerative changes Fibrosis TM joint is generally is taken to see closed and open mouth view of same side.
- 3. ANATOMY:-
- 4. PATIENT POSITIONING:- • Patient is ask to stand erect or lie in semi prone position on x ray table. • Affected side should touch the cassette • IPL should be perpendicular to the cassette. • True lateral skull position is made. • Both EAM should be superimposed to each other. • Cassette is placed width-wise in the bucky.
- 7. DIRECTION AND CENTERING OF X RAY BEAM • Using a well-collimated beam or an extension cone, the central ray is angled 25 degrees caudally and will be center to a point 1 cm anterior and 1 am below the EAM level. • Central ray should be perpendicular to TM joint.
- 8. RADIOGRAPHIC APPEARANCES:- TM joint Lower part of temporal bone Mandible Sella turcica IAM
- 9. EXPOSURE CHART:- • mAs - 200 • mA - -30- 40 • Kvp - • time - 0.25-0.3 sec • grid - yes • angle – 25˚ caudal angle • FFD- 100 cm • Cassette size- 8” ×10”
- 10. RADIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATION:- • The image should include the correct side-marker and labels to indicate the position of the mouth when the exposure was taken (open, closed, etc.) • No movement in patient during exposure. • Proper indication of closed mouth or open mouth should be placed on the cassette.
