Budget 2016-17 (“the Budget”) of the BJP led Indian government was being followed closely for several reasons. Some of the reasons were political, while some could have been based on the larger sense of disillusionment with the government on the part of businesses. Hence, there was an expectation that the Budget would contain some cogent proposals, which would give a fillip to the much needed demand cycle gone stagnant. However, with the Economic Survey 2015-16 (“Economic Survey”) clearly making case for the coupling of the Indian economy with the global market, and having outlined a felt need for larger consumption in the rural sector, it was clear that this was going to be a tight rope walk for the FM.
Application of passive harmonic filters to mitigate source side current harmo...eSAT Journals
Abstract
A combination of rectifier and DC – DC chopper is useful in feeding DC loads where the DC input to the loads needs to be stepped up or down. Both rectifier and chopper are based on power electronic switches which inject harmonics in the system. This harmonics is an undesirable effect which should be mitigated effectively. For this, passive harmonic filters are used. Passive harmonic filters are a simple and economical option for harmonic mitigation. Thus they find widespread application in various power systems. This paper deals with the analysis of harmonic distortion caused in a typical AC system feeding a DC motor through a rectifier and boost chopper setup. The analysis is done before and after the incorporation of passive harmonic filters on the AC side in order to study the effect of the same in the mitigation of source side harmonics. Key Words: – Total Harmonic Distortion - THD, boost chopper, harmonics, tuned filters, resonance

Bristol Energy Cooperative Bond Offer July 2017Andy O'Brien
Bristol Energy Cooperative (BEC) launches a new crowdfund to continue its journey to become a major generator of community-owned clean energy.
The crowdfund target of £1,150,000 will enable BEC to repay previous loans and invest in new micro-renewable generation and storage schemes. These include a 100kW Tesla battery storage project at a new sustainable housing site.
This bond offer builds on the popularity of BEC’s energy schemes where surplus profits are reinvested into the community. BEC has a proven track record of funding and developing renewables, including raising the ambitious sum of £10m last year.
Find out more in Director Andy O'Brien's presentation detailing BEC's plans for the future.

Tipperary Energy Agency has launched a pilot funding project that aims to deliver a deep retrofit for homes funded with a repayable loan and significant capital discounts. The project aims to move away from shallow retrofit and test applications of whole house retrofit focusing on cost effective solutions. This type of retrofit is designed to significantly decrease Ireland’s carbon emissions from the domestic sector and is critical to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases.

Characterization and the Kinetics of drying at the drying oven and with micro...Open Access Research Paper
The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.
UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.
