2. Introduction
Within this PowerPoint we have put together Primary and Secondary research
on reviews, ratings and so on. Are research is based on Sitcom shows so we
have looked at popular Sitcom shows in the UK and U.S.A so we can create a
similar Sitcom show to the highest rated show and we can also look at what
people did and did not like about a specific show.
3. Primary Research
For our primary research I have conducted a questionnaire which I then sent
out and share for multiple people to answer, the questionnaire consists of 10
questions related to the research that I am doing which is Television Shows
14. Secondary Research
Within our Secondary Research I have conducted ten pages of Research, which include ratings,
reviews and comments on certain Sitcom shows in the UK. By looking at this type of research we
can see what TV channel we might want to host on to get a good amount of views on our TV
show.
Also with Secondary Research we can look at reviews related to our Sitcom show to see what the
public like and do not like about a Sitcom show so we know what to include and what not to
include in our show.
19. Conclusion
Now we have finished talking about our research for our Sitcom show, we will
now start to decide what we want to include on our Sitcom show from our
research, so we can get the maximum views that we want to achieve for our
Sitcom show.
Editor's Notes
Hi my name is Hemit Dhanji and this is my classmate Declan Tyldesley. We have done some research on Television Shows, mostly relevant to the genre Situation Comedy
So the first thing is primary research and in this research I made a online questionnaire that had 10 questions in total which I created myself and then sent out to people of all age and different gender. 23 people answered each question in this questionnare which i am going to present in graphs and these are the results that i received
The first question that was asked, was “what gender are you?” out of the 3 options 30% were Male and 70% were Female and 0% were Not Specified. I asked this question because it gives my company a clear understanding of who are the answers from the next questiones releate to
The second questions was about rating tv shows from 1 being the least to 10 being the most fav , so from this graph we can see that the top 3 fav are Documentaries Sit- Coms and Reality Tv, this shows us that Situation Comedy will be one of the favs because from our answeres people have rated it to be second in line
Question 3 is asking about best channels or regularly watched channels in the result of this i found out that BBC 1 is the most popular so for our programme to get popular we would consider airing it on BBC 1
We would also make the programme visible to stream online because in question 4 people mainly watch shows that are on the internet
In question 5 i asked which nationality of characters people liked and the most common answer we got was aprox of 44% British so that means for our new programme we would find people from britain and have a british accent but from the 23 people nobody choose chinese or african so them options would be right at the bottome of our list
to go on to question 6 on to decide which paid company we should show our show on, most people out of 23 we on sky and Virgin Media so our company would consider to sell the programme to companies such as sky and Vm
we need to have a setting for our programme so in one of our questions we asked what kind of setting people liked and it came back with aprox 35% school/College So our company would have to consider making our situation comedy in a school or college so that people would have the interest
for the answer on this question people mostly choose other so for our programme we would have to send another questionnaire out with some more options and see what comes back but other than that we would try and get will smith to be in our situation comedy because that was the second most chosen actor
we found out that aprox 57% of people watch tv for 1-2 hours so that means we would make our programme 1 hour long so it is not too long and not too short
for the last question i had people to rank other different situation comedy programmes and the office and fawlty towers were both chose to be equally the most fav so for our programme we would look at both of these other shows and compare with ours and relate some of it to theres so that people have the interest to watch it
The picture above shows the monthly viewing share between these six programs. These six programs show that BBC has the biggest viewing share out of all of these six channels. By looking at this table we could decide which channel we want to host on to get a substantial amount of views.
The picture above is showing the most popular “Sitcom” Comedy TV series with at least 5,ooo votes. By looking at this picture we can tell that The Big Bang Theory is at the top of the highest rated Sitcom show because of its good use comedy throughout this show.
By looking at the reviews above on the Sitcom show The inbetweeners we can see that this is a high rated TV show due to its consistent comments on how good this Sitcom show is.
The picture above shows one of the best British sitcoms, named Only Fools And Horses. On the right side of the picture you can see its repeated scheduled, to show us that although the episodes are played over and over again people still like to watch this British sitcom, Only Fools And Horses.
