7. Executive Summary
VICO’s needs can be described as follows:
• Network link to establish the connection between telemetry equipment and VICO server
• Wireless connection (3G/GPRS) between telemetry equipment and BTS
• Telemetry equipment which supports 3G connection
Telkom as a one stop TIME services provider, try to identify and fulfill VICO needs. With full
support from several partners, Telkom will fulfill those needs with intregated solution containing
APN service from Telkomsel, VPN IP MPLS Telkom, and Telemetry Equipment provider.
Telkom will guarantee those services supported by After Sales Support contained as follows :
• NOC (Network Operation Center) operating 7 x 24 hours, function of this NOC is to give the
technical assistance in Telkom’s network backbone and access, routing and network
configuration.
• Help Desk Unit operating 7 x 24 hours, as a first interface to the customer whenever any
problems happen.
• Network Monitoring System (NMS) that can monitor the condition of End To End network.
• An Account Manager assigned dedicatedly for giving service excellence to VICO.
9. Background
Telemetry is the highly automated communications process by which
measurements are made and other data collected at remote or inaccessible
points and transmitted to receiving equipment for monitoring.
Telemetry is used to transmit drilling mechanics and formation evaluation
information uphole, in real time, as a well is drilled. These services are
known as Measurement while drilling and Logging while drilling. Tools like
SlimPulse, PowerPulse, TeleScope, etc. use this methodology to send
information acquired thousands of feet below ground, while drilling, uphole
to the surface sensors and the demodulation software. The pressure wave
(sana) is translated into useful information after DSP and noise filters. This
information is used for Formation evaluation, Drilling Optimization,
and Geosteering.
11. Market Information
The world's need for abundant supplies of clean, reliable energy is growing
rapidly. Natural gas is key to a better life for much of the world population.
The populous developing economies and energy needs around the Pacific
Rim are growing commercial opportunities to supply energy are plentiful.
VICO Indonesia's roots lie in the pioneering spirit and vision of the
independent oil and gas company who brought LNG to Indonesia in 1977.
For more than three decades, VICO has been a leader in Indonesia finding
and developing energy resources vital to economic, infrastructure and
social developing of a modern vibrant nation.
The VICO of today is a dynamic and thriving company that builds on the
original pioneering spirit and vision through the talent, energy, and
ingenuity of its talented workforce. VICO was the first company to bring
LNG to Indonesia, is an industry leader in HSE, and has the potential to be a
leader in bringing Coal Bed Methane to Indonesia, thus once again ushering
in a new natural gas era for our nation.
12. Market Information
Oil and natural gas are currently
produced from six fields: Badak, Nilam,
Mutiara, Semberah, Pamaguan and
Lampake. The natural gas is delivered
to P.T. Badak NGL's plant at Bontang,
where LNG and LPG are produced and
shipped, or supplied to fertilizer and
methanol plants at the Kaltim Industrial
Estate
VICO currently produces 700 MMSCFD
gas and 20 MBPD oil and condensate.
VICO has drilled more than 800 wells in
east Kalimantan, of which 420 are
producing. Each well needs to be
monitored and logged using telemetry
method.
13. Account Information
Opportunity
• VICO want to implement telemetry system via GPRS to monitor their oil
and gas wells.
• Currently, VICO have 26 wells that monitored by existing old telemetry
system.
• The implementation of the new telemetry system will give benefits to
VICO. The data will be transferred more accurate by using GPRS/3G,
depends on the signal covered VICO’s field area.
• The development of new wells telemetry system that will be operated
soon in the upcoming 3 years (up to 420 wells).
• The increasing of new telemetry points will be easily adapted to this
system, by only increasing the size of the bandwidth.
15. Problem and Solution
VICO want to implement telemetry system via GPRS to monitor their oil and
gas wells. VICO will develop some new wells that will be operated soon in
2014 (up to 200 wells).
The implementation of the new telemetry system will give benefits to VICO.
The data will be transferred more accurate by using GPRS system which
covered VICO’s field area. The increasing of new telemetry points will be
easily adapted to this system, by only increasing the size of the bandwidth.
The widespread availability of cellular data networks presents another
choice for machine-to-machine (M2M) communication today. Mobile
telephony can be used to establish access to many sites where it is difficult
to place land lines, such as in offshore/well applications. Cellular M2M
offers mobility, encryption, more location options, and easier installation in
a single package. For many situations, cellular M2M presents advantages
that cannot be matched by hard wiring solutions, analog carriers, or
satellite connections.

23. Key Account Insight
• The Oil and Gas Year (TOGY) 2013 has selected VICO as the best gas
company based on VICO’s performance on gas production.
• VICO has drilled more than 800 wells in east Kalimantan, of which 420
are producing. It also has plans to drill some 65 more wells, using seven
rigs, in the near future.
• The goal of sustaining conventional gas production of approximately
10.48 mcm (370 mcf) per day in the face of ageing fields is extremely
ambitious, but having achieved flat production in reservoir in 50-percent
decline over recent years, the company can extend an already
exceptional achievement.
• VICO’s operations in Indonesia are a clear demonstration of what an
aggressive strategy can achieve.
24. Account Profitability Analysis
• VICO has implement some product and solution from Telkom.
• VICO has network connectivity provided by Telkom.
• Recently, Telkom has been completed Fiber Optic installation
connecting Nilam Sattelite 1 – Sattelite 2. Those FO will be used
internally by VICO for data communication between field area.
25. Competitive Position
& Relationship
• Telkom has great chance to increase market share in VICO by doing this
project.
• Telkom must be aware about main threats from some competitors that
offering lower price on materials and equipments.
• Supported by Telkomsel, Telkom believe can implement this project
considering the GPRS network coverage at all VICO’s wells.
• This project could generate revenue for Telkomsel as Company
Objectives in 2014 for Telkomsel’s double digit revenue.

• Telemetry equipment included with spare unit
• User training
• Including installation for Telemetry Equipment
• Including helpdesk call center 24x7 to report any problem
30. Conclusion
• Telkomgroup as a one stop TIME services provider, try to identify and
fulfill VICO needs. With full support from several partners, Telkomgroup
could fulfill those needs with intregated solution containing APN service
from Telkomsel, VPN IP MPLS Telkom, and Telemetry Equipment

• Based on RoI analysis, Telkom will get 49.93 percent of RoI.
• This project could be done by two schemes, the first scheme is all CPEs
invested by Telkomgroup and the second one is doing manage service to
the CPEs owned by 3rd party.
31. Advise
• TIME services must be penetrated to all corporate customer.
• An account team must have an insight to catch any opportunity based on
customer’s needs
• To support Company’s Objectives in 2014, we must have some ideas to
combine our capabilities as a Telkom group to propose a ecosystem
solution to corporate customer.
