This document outlines a two-part professional development plan for a school's instructional staff: 1) Staff will survey each other about current technology use, discuss standards, and identify areas for improvement. The principal will explain a STaR chart for instructional standards and get feedback. 2) Six weeks later, the coordinator will review standards and have teachers complete a survey to assess progress. Teachers will devise ideas to improve classifications and drive future instruction and development. The school and district will include STaR Chart progress and instructional improvements in future plans, using data to guide staff training rather than focusing solely on equipment.

7. Professional Development Activity #1The following activity is designed to evaluate national standards, and the progress of the campus based on Week 3’s findings. Campus instructional staff will gain knowledge on standards, analyze the campus’ technology use, and develop a plan to use technology to benefit instruction and curriculum. The entire professional development activity is designed for teachers to develop their own instructional practices around innovative technology use. They will also leave the session with a game plan on how to integrate technology, monitor its progress, and know it will be monitored, evaluated, and supported by administration based on the deadlines created.

Professional Development Activity #2Six weeks after the above training, the Special Populations Coordinator will meet with the teachers to take a brief survey regarding how implementing technology has changed their classrooms. This will also indicate differences in performance, participation, and attitude of all subpopulations. The Special Populations Coordinator will then review the national standards mentioned in the previous development session, and go over the STaR chart areas. A survey similar to the actual STaR chart will be handed out for the teachers to fill out. It will then be tallied on a large board for us to determine the campus’ key areas classification. The teachers will then devise an idea for each area to improve the campus classification when we fill out the real STaR chart next year.The classification for the 2010-2011 school year will be used to drive instructional and staff development needs.

Action Plan Evaluation:The 2010-2011 campus improvement plan will include STaR Chart progress in at least one area.STaR Chart data will be used to drive staff development on a campus and district level.The district improvement plan will include instructional areas of improvement based on AEIS and AYP data. The number of computers will not be the sole focus of the district improvement plan.The district technology plan will develop technology goals, using the STaR chart to move towards state and national standards.
