       After reviewing the technology needs of the district, a particular campus,
   administration, teachers and students, (O’Banion) it is clear that Goose Creek
   Consolidated Independent District is working to integrate teaching, learning, and
   technology. Through evaluation of the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology
   (Texas Education Agency) and the Texas STaR Chart (TEA Star Chart), as well as
   the district and campus improvement plans; it seems that in order to reach the goal of
   ‘providing technology for literacy, integration and transformative learning to prepare
   students to successfully live, learn and work in the Digital Age’ (Goose Creek CISD
   Technology Plan for E-Rate Year 12); proper professional development opportunities
   must be in place.
   Some professional development areas that would be beneficial are:

             Can You Read the Stars?: Understanding the Texas Long Range Plan for
              Technology and the STaR Charts
                     This staff development will give an indepth look into the Texas
                      Long Range Plan for Technology as well as the teacher, campus
                     and district STaR Chart information. Upon completion, all teachers
                     and administrators will have a better understanding of the data
                     used for implementing technology into our district.
              Evaluation: Improved results on STaR chart, inclusion of campus STaR
                     chart information on all campus improvement plans

             Are We Integrating Technology?: Enhancing Curriculum and Instruction
              with Technology
                     This staff development will approach various means of enhancing
                     curriculum and instruction with technology- such as Blogs, Web
                     sites, streaming video, concept mapping and a variety of
                     multimedia formats. Participants will do hands-on learning.
              Evaluation: Increased teaching with technology as shown by teacher and
                     student surveys to assess usage of technology and results reflected
                     on the Teacher STaR Charts and campus principal STaR Charts

             Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship
                      This staff development will teach the guidelines for internet safety
                      for teachers and students, including copyright issues.
              Evaluation: Better understanding of internet policies as reflected in
                      student and teacher surveys and the district’s Internet usage
                      report
   Project-Based Learning Through Multimedia Sources
               This staff development will promote using technology for project-
               based learning. Participants will be introduced to various
               multimedia sources available and implement a group project.
       Evaluation: Increase in student production of multimedia products

      Are You Using Our Net?: SchoolNet Training for Teachers,
       Administrators, and Parents
              This staff development will address the latest innovations on
              SchoolNet, the district's information management system for
              student data and curriculum management. There will be break-out
              sessions for the various stakeholders.
       Evaluation: Increased usage of SchoolNet by all stakeholders as shown in
              the District’s Internet usage report

      New PDAS Information:Understanding the addition of ISTE Teacher
       NETS to PDAS
              This staff development will help teachers and administrators
              understand the National Educational Technology Standards
              implemented by The International Society for Technology in
              Education and how they will be used in evaluations (PDAS).
              Concrete examples at all levels will be given.
       Evaluation: Usage of ISTE Teacher Nets in all district PDAS evaluations
