of a computer.
• Students will be able to describe basic computer terminology.
• Students will be able to identify the differences between files,
folders, extensions, and storage types.

• Hardware- The
components of a
computer that can be
seen and/or touched.

• Software- The components
of a computer that is
processed, and the user
interacts with such as
programs, applications,
documents, files, and/or the
operating system.

• Allows users to interact with the computer.
• GUI- Graphical User Interface

Programs or Applications- Allow the
user to perform certain tasks such as
write a paper, edit a photo, or browse
the internet.
• A file is a piece of saved
data. You will usually
save this data from an
application, such as
Word or PowerPoint.
• A folder is a way of
organizing files.
You can create
new folders in
different places.
• An extension
refers to the type
of file that is being
saved.
