• Bangladesh’s Exports: Tea data was reported at 20.000 BDT mn in May 2018. This
records a decrease from the previous number of 30.000 BDT mn for Apr 2018.
Bangladesh’s Exports: Tea data is updated monthly, averaging 60.000 BDT mn from
Jan 1989 to May 2018, with 353 observations. The data reached an all-time high of
460.000 BDT mn in May 1992 and a record low of 0.000 BDT mn in Sep 2016.
Bangladesh’s Exports: Tea data remains active status in CEIC and is reported by

10. EXPORT EARNINGS FROM TEA:
• Bangladesh earned over Tk 360 million by exporting tea in the
last fiscal year, said Commerce Minister
• Bangladesh fetched foreign currencies equivalent to Taka
36,03,02,767 by exporting 23,89,801 kgs of tea in the last
fiscal

million kg tea against a consumption of nearly 86 million kg.

• Tea industries in Bangladesh are faces so many problems.
Some of these problems unexpected natural calamity, illegal
occupation of land by outsider, lack of medical facilities,
unhealthy atmosphere in labor lines, lack of infrastructure
(road, quarter, water supply, network etc.),lack of capital and
modern machineries, improper use of Gov. Loan by some
owners of tea gardens.
• For successful tea culture the above problems must be solved.
To reduce production cost we have to produce quality tea.
