This presentation provides an overview of Bangladesh's tea industry. It discusses the origin of tea cultivation in Bangladesh in 1854. Most of Bangladesh's 166 tea estates are located in the northeastern region. Tea production has increased at an annual average rate of 1.03% to around 57.75 million kg over the last ten years. However, tea exports have declined due to slow production growth, rising consumption, and competition from other countries. The key aspects of Bangladesh's tea sector discussed are producers, processing, trade, retail, and customers.
