Pavement Failure Summary of Research PapersZakaria Yahya
This document summarizes two research papers on pavement failure. The first paper examines four cases of premature failure of asphalt overlays due to stripping. Stripping is a loss of bond between aggregates and asphalt binder. The researchers found similarities in the failures including mud stains, flushing, and potholes in wheel tracks. They concluded that moisture can cause stripping and recommended permeable base courses and inspecting existing pavements. The second paper examines causes of cracks and deterioration in Jordanian highways from contractors' perspectives. Contractors identified poor construction quality, inappropriate pavement dimensions, high traffic loads, substandard drainage and materials, and inadequate supervision and testing as leading causes. The study aims to minimize failure and reduce repair

Teaching English In Adverse And Peculiar Situation: The English Language Teac...iosrjce
This document discusses the adverse and peculiar situations faced when teaching English in Nigerian primary schools. It notes that poverty is widespread in Nigeria, resulting in challenges like large class sizes, lack of textbooks, and multi-grade classrooms. English performance on exams is also very poor. The document recommends strategies for English teachers to address these situations, such as using mother tongue initially and code-switching, creating a language-rich classroom environment, grouping students, and providing remedial support. Continuous professional development for teachers is also emphasized to improve teaching quality despite adverse conditions.

The document provides an overview of CARE's voucher program implemented in Northern Syria, documenting the process and lessons learned. It describes how 1,613 beneficiaries received food vouchers, 755 received agricultural input vouchers in proportion to land size (up to 30 donums), and 708 received livestock vouchers. Locations were selected based on need, IDP populations, limited aid access. Beneficiaries were selected through local councils and household visits. Vendors underwent capacity assessments and contract negotiations set prices. Vouchers were distributed according to a clear plan with unique identifiers. Lessons focused on beneficiary and vendor feedback, efficiency, risk mitigation, conflict sensitivity, integration, gender, and duration.
This document describes the fabrication of a dual power bike that can operate using either an internal combustion engine or electric motor. The goal is to improve fuel efficiency and reduce pollution by allowing electric-only operation in the city. The bike combines a petrol engine with a battery and electric motor, resulting in twice the fuel economy of a conventional bike. It works by using the electric motor powered by the battery for low-power city driving, and switching to the petrol engine for higher speeds or power needs. This hybrid system aims to lower costs and pollution compared to other vehicles.

The document provides information about the Blue Brain project, which aims to create a virtual model of the brain through detailed computer simulations. It began in 2005 as a collaboration between EPFL and IBM to model the neocortical column, the basic functional unit of the cerebral cortex. The project's goals are to gain insights into brain function and dysfunction, develop new medical treatments, and potentially lead to advances in artificial intelligence and supercomputing. By simulating brain circuits at the molecular level and connecting large numbers of neuronal columns, the project aims to eventually simulate an entire human brain.

Such a diet is anti-inflammatory, immune boosting, and focuses on consuming colorful fruits and vegetables. Specific foods highlighted include cruciferous vegetables, berries, citrus fruits, turmeric, ginger, garlic and mushrooms. The document also addresses easing side effects of treatment through hydration and appetite-stimulating foods and provides snack ideas.
Roles of Flavonoids in Human Health (Seminar presentation)Kayode Kolawole
This document summarizes a student presentation on the roles of flavonoids in human health. It discusses the sources of flavonoids, their structure, biosynthesis pathway, and various pharmacological activities including antioxidant, cardio-protective, anti-carcinogenic, gastro-protective, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-thrombotic effects. It provides examples of specific flavonoids and their effects. The presentation concludes that flavonoids show therapeutic potential but their use requires validation through biochemical testing, and their safety depends on appropriate dosing.
Flavonoids are plant secondary metabolites that are classified based on their chemical structure. They are abundant in many plant families and occur as both free compounds and glycosides. Key classes include flavonols, flavones, flavanones, isoflavones, and anthocyanidins. Flavonoids have a variety of biological effects and are found in several plants that are used medicinally such as orange peel, garcinia, soybean, liquorice, cranberry, and buckwheat.

comprensión por parte do alumnado.

Lesquelles?
As maiores dificultades que atopei foron a de adaptar as capacidades do CECRL e seleccionar e adaptar as orientacións xa que
d’autre?
proxecto nun aula.
