EPANDING THE CONTENT OF AN OUTLINE using notes.pptx
Task 9
1. Section C- planning.
The title of my magazine:
I thinkthe mastheadof my magazine shouldbe representativeof itsgenre therefore should have the word
‘classical’withinit.Myideasforthe musicmagazine namesare: ‘ClassicalIdol’,‘TheMusic Classic’,‘Gold
Opera’, ‘OperaticTheatre’,and ‘NextBig Voice’. I thinkthat these titleswouldbe successful inthe attraction
of attentionbecause theyare short, simpleandrelevanttomychosengenre.Throughincludingthe name of
the actual sub-genre withinthe masthead, itsavedthe targetaudience time inlookingfortheirdesired
magazine asit will saythe wordon the cover.
Explanation of choice of my genre:
Due to my pre-existingknowledge of the ‘classical’genre,IfeltIwouldbe successfullyinproducingthis
magazine with sufficientcontent,relevantimagesandanengagingfrontcover.Althoughthisgenre doesnot
typicallyappeal to awide audience,Ifeltthatthe contentproducedwouldsuccessfullyappeal tothe people
on the searchfor thissub-genre of magazine.
Target audience:
I will aimmymusicmagazine at a predominantlyfemale targetaudience asthe focusof the magazine would
be Katherine Jenkins(anincrediblywellknownfemale icon).Iwill alsoaimthe magazine at a typical older
audience (ages40+).AlthoughIam automaticallyaimingmymagazine atall ethnicities, the contentof
typical White Britishpeoplewithinmymagazine ishightherefore Iknow thiswill representascertaintarget
audience.People of thisage range wouldbe interestedinthisspecificgenre asmany‘younger’people would
quite abruptlydismissthisgenre asitisseenas ‘uncool’.I realise that itwill be somewhatdifficulttogather
an accurate sample of mytarget audience tointerview/questionnaire etchoweverIfeel thatitispossible
and I am willingtocarryout the researchdespite thissetback.
Initial ideas for the front page:
Due to the resultsIgatheredfrommyquantitative research,Ifeelthatitwouldbe mostappropriate
to base my coveraroundthe colourscheme of brightcolours.Ithinkthat thisscheme wouldperhaps
give a moderntake onthis classical genre therefore would increasethe range of agesthat wouldbe
attractedto my magazine.
From the beginningIhave plannedtoincludeKatherine Jenkinsasthe ‘mainfocus’of the magazine
therefore Iwill use herimagesthroughoutthe covertocorrespondwithvariouscoverlinesetc.
My mastheadwill followthe typical codesandconventions due tothe factit wouldbe situatedat
the top of the page, itwill be big, andthe font style will be rathersquare asappose toroundand
circular.
I will include amainimage (taken of me) and1 otherimage of a celebrity(Katherine Jenkins)
howeverthe restof the space will be coverlinesasthiswill nottake muchattentionoff of the main
image as this shouldstandoutamongstthe rest of the features.
I will nothave a blockbackgroundcolour, the mainimage of myself will spanthe whole page andI
will layerimages,textandcoverlinesoverthe image.
Initial ideas about the contents page:
My contentspage will have abackgroundasit will have nomainimage panningacrossthe page.I’m
planningona plainwhite background incontrasttothe deepblacktextof whichthe fontstyle will
be ‘Calibri (body)’.Thisissothat the textwill standouttherefore makingiteasierforthe readerto
notice/acknowledge.
2. The layoutwill be simple, crisp;there will be separationsintext(colouringtoseparate eachcover
line).Iwill include 3imagesonthe page whichwill be inconnectionwith3of the coverlines, Iwill
not include animage foreachcover line.
Initial ideas about the double page spread:
My double page spreadwillbe ina questionandanswerformat. The interviewee will be Katherine
Jenkinsandthe questionswill relate toherClassical musiccareer. Thisspreadwill be featuredinthe
formof a cover line onthe frontcoverwhichwill be anattractive feature forpeople whoenjoy
classical music.
I will use amethodof chunkingto separate eachof the answersto the questions,Iwill type the
questionsinadifferentcolourtothe restof the textinorder to make itclearerto the readerwhat
exactlythe intervieweeisasking.
I will include amainimage of Katherine forthe article whichwill fill approximatelyathirdof the
page, the mastheadwill follow. The image Iwill choose willrelate closelytothe questionsthatwill
have beenwrittendowne.g- if the questionsaskaboutconcerts, the picturesusedwill be of one of
herperformancesina concert.
Initial ideas about photographs:
My mainphotoforthe Frontcover will be of myself inmypromdresstorepresentthe typical mise
enscene of classical singers.Thiswill enhance the relevance of the sub-genre tomyimage andthe
contentsof my frontcover, contentspage and double page spread.
The coloursfor my photoswill be sophisticatedinrelationtothe genre e.g- awhite backgroundand
the colourof the dresswill be close toskincolour.
I will take numerouspicturesinthisdress, someof whichwill be outside toshow thatI have
accommodateda range of locationswithinthistask.
Some of the pictureswill be takenbysomeoneelseof me andsome will be takenbymyself to
demonstrate the extenttomyresearchintothe varioustype of camera angle and imagesIcan
gather.
