- 2. ABOUTTHE COMPANY ColumbiaRecords is anAmerican record label owned by Sony Music Entertainment. It was founded in 1887, making Columbia Records the oldest surviving brand name in pre-recorded sound. From 1961-1990, its recordings were released outside of the U.S. and Canada on the CBS Records label, before adopting the Columbia name in most of the world. Its roster features some of the most famous names in the music industry today as well as some of the finest artists in music history. It is led by President Ferdy Unger-Hamilton (UK).
- 3. WHAT GENRE OFMUSIC DOTHEY FOCUS ON? Columbia Records doesn't as such focus on one individual genre of music. They have a variety of artists and genres ranging from pop artists such as One Direction, Little Mix and Beyoncé, to more rock artists like Bring Me the Horizon andThe Stone Roses.
