Syco Music has offices in London and Los Angeles and is home to several artists. Syco has the exclusive right to
sign winners and finalists of The X Factor and Got Talent. Syco's original base is in London and it has enjoyed
most success in the UK market. From 2004 to date, the label has had 22 UK number-one singles.From 2004 to
the end of 2009, the label achieved 13 number-one albums. Factoring in releases under predecessor label S
Records, Syco/S achieved 20 number-one albums in the 2000-2009 period, more than any other imprint in the
UK, including far larger operations like Columbia Records, Warner Bros. Records and Polydor Records.
Additionally, the label has achieved 7 top 10 U.S. albums since 2006. I have chosen to looks at this record label
in terms of my Girl band because it has mass experience on the pop industry will multiple number one hits.
The company also managers some of the girl groups I have already looked into.

3. Virgin Records
Virgin Records, Ltd. is a British record label founded by English entrepreneur
Richard Branson, Simon Draper, Nik Powell and Tom Newman in 1972. The
company grew to be a worldwide music phenomenon, with platinum performers
such as Roy Orbison, Devo, Genesis, Keith Richards, Janet Jackson, the Human
League, Culture Club, Simple Minds, Lenny Kravitz, dc Talk, the Smashing Pumpkins,
Mike Oldfield, Spice Girls and more on their list of artists. It was later sold to Thorn
EMI in 1992. I chose to look at this record label because it managed the biggest girl
band of all time The Spice Girls.
4. Polydor Records
Polydor Records is a British record label that operates as part of Universal Music Group. It has a
close relationship with Universal's Interscope Geffen A&M label, which distributes Polydor's
releases in the United States. In turn, Polydor distributes Interscope releases in the United Kingdom.
Its artists have included Slade, Cheryl Cole and Girls Aloud, Take That, Haim, James Brown, Ellie
Goulding, Duffy, James Blake, Snow Patrol, elbow, Status Quo, Elton John, the 1975, Marie Osmond,
Years & Years, and American artists Lana Del Rey, Haim, and Azealia Banks.
I chose to look at this record label because it has managed many big artists in the pop industry as
well as some of the girl bands I have been researching.
