Tanaka conducted an experiment to test how different liquids, including tap water, lemon juice, Coca-Cola, laundry detergent, and bleach, would affect plant growth when sprayed on plants over the course of a week. Tanaka's hypothesis that the bleach would destroy the plant due to its harmful effects was partially correct, as the bleach resulted in the worst growth, but surprisingly the tap water also negatively impacted growth. The experiment found that Coca-Cola allowed for the most growth, followed by lemon juice and tap water, with laundry detergent fourth and bleach fifth. Tanaka concluded the experiment provided insight into what substances near plants can harm their growth.

b. Vinegar hypothesis = Vinegar and water combine rather well thus in effect it will contaminate groundwater very easily.
c. Laundry detergent hypothesis = Laundry detergent uses the water in order to achieve a reaction thus since it is dependent on the water it will contaminate the water.
2. Based on the results of your experiment, would you reject or accept each hypothesis that you produced in question 1? Explain how you determined this.
a. Oil hypothesis accept/reject = I would accept this hypothesis due to the fact that the water and the oil attempted to mix as little as possible and when left alone they continued to separate.
b. Vinegar hypothesis accept/reject = I would accept this hypothesis the vinegar and water mixed easily together making it difficult to separate the two.
c. Laundry detergent hypothesis accept/reject = I would accept the hypothesis the water and laundry detergent mixed together and would not separate easily at all. The fact that the detergent and water created another reaction when mixed together that would also make it extremely difficult to separate.
3. What affects did each of the contaminants have on the water in the experiment? Which contaminant seemed to have the most potent effect on the water?
Answer = Each of the contaminants created a sheen in the water. The oil when mixed attempted to remain separate from the water while the vinegar and the detergent mixed freely with the water. Of all three the contaminant that had the most effect on the water was the detergent not only did it completely change the color of the water and the odor it also created a reaction that created bubbles.

Photosynthesis occurs when plants use light energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. Leaves contain microscopic cellular organelles known as chloroplasts.
Each chloroplast contains a green-coloured pigment called chlorophyll. Light energy is absorbed by chlorophyll molecules whereas carbon dioxide and oxygen enter through the tiny pores of stomata located in the epidermis of leaves.
Another by-product of photosynthesis is sugars such as glucose and fructose.
These sugars are then sent to the roots, stems, leaves, fruits, flowers and seeds. In other words, these sugars are used by the plants as an energy source, which helps them to grow. These sugar molecules then combine with each other to form more complex carbohydrates like cellulose and starch. The cellulose is considered as the structural material that is used in plant cell walls.

Where Does This Process Occur?
Chloroplasts are the sites of photosynthesis in plants and blue-green algae. All green parts of a plant, including the green stems, green leaves, and sepals – floral parts comprise of chloroplasts – green colour plastids. Please read this week's reading. In chapter 7 the author goes into the wastewater process very deeply. Please describe your understanding of the entire process and the way you think the process will be changed in the future.

I apologize to the class for my tardiness of this week’s forum. My workload was increased this week. I was volunteered to update some of our procedures in our unit, so my off days have been at our facility.
I did, however had the chance to get some firsthand knowledge of the practices we do in our facility when dealing with waste water. We have several areas that check the water of impurities, as well as recycle process water back into the units after filtration processes. We also have specific equipment that has built in filtering units so that they can continuously use the same water by adding more volume as the water evaporates.
Another great thing we have is a control for our outfalls to public waterways. We have three collection ponds that hold water and treats it in various stages. What this does is allows us to hold all runoff water so that we discharge nothing but pure and safe water. Each area is monitored and treated differently, going from first stage to discharge. If the water fails any quality test it is held on location until it will pass.
I cannot really go into detail about the exact process that goes through on our site, but seeing the extensive on-site equipment was a peace of mind knowing everything leaving our units was treated correctly and isolated if failing quality.
To go into what our text has described, what I understand from this is that there are certain characteristics that define what is in waste water. As the water is tested and examined, the type of contaminates can be understood; as well as what is needed to treat the water so that it can be considered safe again.
The initial treatment is the preliminary treatment. This is when the water is being treated by removing the most obvious contaminates. This treatment is part of the physical operations, which is forcing the contaminates out physically.
The next step is the primary treatment. At this level in the treatment process, which again is a physically process, is where more of the solid mass and floating contaminates. This process uses various weirs and scrapers in a vessel to gather and remove both heavy solids, as well as floating materials by directing the materials in different directions for removal.
Secondary treatment follows these first two processes. This is considered a biological process due to the use of living organisms. Like the process of making alcohol, microorganisms (bugs) are placed in the waste water to help with the removal of organic material. Based on what I think, vinegar is saturated and a natural substance while oil is a manmade
product and a much thicker substance. Oil absorbed the soil leaving the water less
contaminated. My conclusion, vinegar was the more potent liquid.

Background
Looking at the history of mankind one thing is really common; all the wars were fought for three main reasons wealth, women and land. However looking at the future of this era it can be easily concluded that all of the future wars will be fought for the sake of water. Water crisis is not just going to be a crisis but a threat to the very existence of civilization. Human beings when sent to this earth were the weakest of all forces but with the quality of living standards and use of resources it conquered all forces of nature. Now coming to the present situation of water in the entire world people don’t have access to fresh water supply in most parts of the world. The situation is alarming as the absence of good quality water can cause numerous diarrheal diseases, including Cholera, and other serious illnesses such as Guinea worm disease, Typhoid, and Dysentery. Therefore quality of good water is necessary for living.
Objective
Considering the increasing number of water related diseases and other issues in the world. Our objective was to analyze, organize and summarize the information in order to find the solution that the people are facing with regards the water related issues. How they can provide themselves and their families with water supply that is purely hygienic and doesn’t cause any harm to them and to their families. The further objective was to find the reasons of what is the quality of water that most of the people are drinking. Is tap water good for health for most of the people in today’s world.

I have developed a hypothesis that plants that get the most light will develop in shape better than the plants which exists only in the shadow.
Conclusion
According to Bensel & Turk, (2014), In terrestrial ecosystems, air pollution deposition affects plant physiology; microbial processes; biogeochemical cycles of substances, such as nitrogen; and plant community dynamics. In aquatic ecosystems, acidic deposition results in acidification of waterways, the mobilization of trace metals in surface waters, and ultimately, the loss of aquatic biodiversity.

Hypothesis
I have developed a hypothesis that plants that get the most light will develop in shape better than the plants which exists only in the shadow.
Conclusion
According to Bensel & Turk, (2014), In terrestrial ecosystems, air pollution deposition affects plant physiology; microbial processes; biogeochemical cycles of substances, such as nitrogen; and plant community dynamics. In aquatic ecosystems, acidic deposition results in acidification of waterways, the mobilization of trace metals in surface waters, and ultimately, the loss of aquatic biodiversity.
Based on the experiment and the comprehensive research I reject my this hypothesis and this is because there was limited sunlight the flowers were not able to completely grow in the shadow, there are several stems that grew but I cannot identify to which plant they belong. - 3. Aim My aim was to find out form of acid rain will affect the plants.
- 4. Hypothesis My hypothesis was that the bleach and chemical experiment will destroy the plant because if bleach herms our skin it will defiantly destroy the plant. I also think that tap water will come first because their more us to it.
- 5. Independent Variables Position (on the bench) Lighting (in room before taken to school) Temperature (of the room before taken to school) The angle of which the spray was taken. Dependent variables: Growth
- 6. Materials An ice cream container (each=5) A spray bottle (each=5) A plant (each=5) A bench
- 7. Method get a spray bottle Fill the bottle with your liquid Get your plant Spray your plant at 3:00pm Take a picture and repeat for a week
- 8. How Is Acid Rain Formed rain is formed when water from the sea evaporates and air particles rise up this is called transpiration which forms condensation which form condensation clouds perspratoin when it rains it’s called precipitation

- 13. Conclusion My hypothesis was half right. The Chemicals experiment did come last but I was surprised about the tap water experiment .
- 14. Application I think this will have an positive influents on locals the are incrested in plant grow but don’t have an professional advise to. It will also help people to kwon what not to do near plant.
