There are 40 sector skill councils ( SSC ) affiliated with NSDC
SSC are autonomous partnership organization that bring
together Industry, labor and academia.
NSDC acts as a catalyst in skill development by providing
funding to enterprises, companies and organisations that
provide skill training.

The National Occupational Standard is one of the most
significant contribution of NSDC to India's skilling
ecosystem - something that was made possible by the
SSCs.

What is Occupational Standard ( OS) and
Qualification Pack ( QP )?
Occupational Standard (OS) describes what
individuals need to do, know and understand in
order to carry out a particular job role or function.
A set of OS, aligned to a job role, is called Qualification
Pack (QP).

11. How PR professionals can contribute to
Skilling India efforts?
• By acting as nodal point for general information exchange
between companies and sector skill councils e.g. Feedback on
skill gap and requirement, feedback on labor market information system ( LMIS
) etc.
• Acting as facilitator for industry participation in
development, validation and regular updation of National
Occupational Standards.
• By sensitizing companies for conducive job environment
and alignment of internal skilling efforts to strategic
business goal and career mobility of employees.
• By creating public awareness of skilling efforts ( changing
society’s perception-where needed ) and facilitating
channelization of strategic CSR funds for skilling of youths /
students.
