What have I learned in my design thinking class?
•I have learned that empathizing with people is the best way to find a solution for
their problems. Paying attention at what they say and do will give us a better
understanding of what their needs are.
•At the beginning of every creative process there is no such thing as a bad idea. All
ideas are welcome.
•Failure is part of the process. Embrace it and start again.
Take it home and apply design thinking
Empathize

How do they use
the lockers?

actually use the

What can you infer from that?
About what
they think?

they feel?
Redesigning the school lockers
Ideate
Write down as many ideas as I can
Crazy ideas are allowed : We have to build a
different building for the lockers
Simple ideas are also allowed: We have to assigned
lockers only to the students who need them
Ideas already used are also allowed: …
Prototype and test
Build a cheap version of your idea and put it to the test
If it doesn’t work, no biggie, startIf it doesn’t work, no biggie, start

Reflection
I plan to use what I have learned in this class in
my work and in my everyday life.
I teach English as a foreign language to middle school
kids and way too often I notice my students just don’t
feel challenge enough. Creativity is something that they
don’t hear outside the art class. I think I can try to make
them use their creativity when learning the English
language . I also think that I can pass on what I have
learned here.

  • 1. What have I learned in my design thinking class? •I have learned that empathizing with people is the best way to find a solution for their problems. Paying attention at what they say and do will give us a better understanding of what their needs are. •At the beginning of every creative process there is no such thing as a bad idea. All ideas are welcome. •Failure is part of the process. Embrace it and start again. Take it home and apply design thinking
  • 2. Empathize Hear their voices: What do they want? What do they need? How do they use the lockers? watch what they do How do they actually use the lockers? What can you infer from that? About what they think? About what they feel? Redesigning the school lockers

  • 5. Reflection I plan to use what I have learned in this class in my work and in my everyday life. I teach English as a foreign language to middle school kids and way too often I notice my students just don’t feel challenge enough. Creativity is something that they don’t hear outside the art class. I think I can try to make them use their creativity when learning the English language . I also think that I can pass on what I have learned here.
