Bert Keely dreamed of creating tablet PCs and first drew designs at SGI labs. He pitched his idea to Apple and Dell but they refused. Bill Gates accepted the idea and tasked Microsoft with developing an OS. A tablet PC is an optimized version of a desktop or notebook that uses a touchscreen instead of keyboard/mouse. It has all the functions of a computer and some have calling capabilities. Tablet PCs are used in education for their portability and in medicine to access electronic health records.
