HP, IBM, and VCE were compared on their pre-configured cloud solutions. HP CloudSystem offers the most flexibility by supporting the integration of existing HP and third-party servers, storage, and networking components. It also supports multiple hypervisors and provides comprehensive support across all layers. IBM PureSystem is more limited as it does not support existing BladeCenter chassis or servers from other vendors. VCE Vblock offers the least flexibility as all server, storage, and networking resources must be purchased from VCE partners as part of the solution.
Our vision is clear. We are here to change the way enterprise software is acquired, hosted and maintained. Today’s technology offerings are evolving to meet changing customer requirements and market demographics. Enterprise software is one of the last technologies prone to long evaluation cycles, huge deployment costs and risky implementations. While most software vendors provide freemium purchase models, ERP and other applications are woefully out-of-date. Business moves too quickly. And, a new generation of professionals views the RFP selection process as a relic from another era. It doesn’t need to be that way.
Once the software is installed, its capabilities should be boundless. While SaaS offerings have changed the financial dynamic of purchasing software it has created compromises in customization and extensibility. Our vision is different. We foresee the need to add operational and performance insight, a vast array of tools to speed implementation and enhance usability, a catalog of complementary software to meet the unique needs of businesses through an app store concept, and a social fabric to truly enrich application functionality. With so much innovation creating new frontiers, why confine your enterprise applications to yesterday’s traditions?

As a leading innovator, you selected DDS to solve a complex communications challenge. Good choice! Now you recognize that your challenge is evolving: you need to consider adding more mobile and embedded devices into the network. The resource requirements of your DDS middleware are becoming a crucial factor. Even if you wanted your vendor to port to the rapidly expanding field of hand-held and mobile embedded devices, you wonder - will your applications still fit and run with needed performance levels within the memory footprint and CPU cycle constraints?
Your management or your client is now requesting you handle some new and interesting hardware and software, mobility solutions while bringing in data from new sources. To do this you might be able to select higher memory versions and/or faster CPU versions of the new devices in order to achieve the performance you need. Or you might be forced to drop features and functionality so that your DDS enabled application fits and provides acceptable performance. Either your costs go up or you leave out features. Do you really want to make that trade off? What options exist now?
Fortunately, one of the great strengths of the DDS standard is that it is open and provides interoperability between DDS versions from other suppliers. That’s one of the reasons your choice of DDS was a good one!
Twin Oaks Computing (www.twinoakscomputing.com) has designed its implementation from the ground up especially for resource constrained environments. CoreDX DDS is a high-performance implementation of the OMG Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard. The CoreDX DDS Publish-Subscribe messaging infrastructure provides high-throughput, low-latency data communications in an extremely small footprint.
CoreDX DDS applications can easily communicate with applications based on DDS from other vendors. This multi-vendor interoperability is enabled by multiple standards managed by the Object Management Group (OMG), including specifications of the application programming interface (API), real-time publish subscribe wire protocol (RTPS), and quality of service (QoS) features. CoreDX DDS includes proven support across all of these interoperability aspects. Twin Oaks has publicly demonstrated CoreDX DDS interoperability with RTI DDS and OpenSplice DDS.
Interoperability is particularly important for systems that are deployed for long periods of time, often measured in the decades, before they can be upgraded or replaced. Maintaining these systems through individual component failures, and ever changing and expanding requirements is hard. Interoperable middleware technologies like DDS make this challenge easier. Integrators, faced with the challenge of integrating components from diverse sources, demand interoperability.
HR in the cloud is a growing trend, with market forces pushing HR systems and processes to software-as-a-service (SaaS) models. However, SaaS alone does not address the need to outsource routine transaction processing and call center support. While SaaS solutions continue gaining traction, acquisitions by large vendors are also consolidating the market. Considerations for buyers include verifying capabilities for global payroll, integration, mobile access, and reducing customizations versus outsourcing transaction processing and help desk support through an HR business process outsourcing provider.
Computer Generated Solutions (CGS) provides proven best practices for Microsoft Exchange upgrades, migrations, and advanced messaging solutions. Their Exchange solutions include planning, designing, deploying, and guiding rapid implementations to meet customers' needs. CGS aims to provide solutions that deliver maximum business value through predictable methodologies ensuring teams are enabled to support future growth. As a Microsoft Gold Partner, CGS is positioned to deliver leading Microsoft products and services to maximize technology investments.
CGS offers Quick Start programs to rapidly implement Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 solutions. The Quick Start programs provide an objective to plan, design, deploy and provide guidance for a SharePoint portal within 7-8 weeks. Key features include managed document libraries, document collaboration, workflow and search capabilities. The programs are tailored for intranet, document management or internet website scenarios to streamline processes and improve productivity through knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Managed hosting services from Access Data allow companies to outsource their IT infrastructure management to focus on their business. Access Data offers three tiers of managed hosting with varying levels of server management, monitoring, security services, and support. These services provide flexibility to scale infrastructure as business needs change without large upfront costs.
This document provides an overview of Dell's enterprise-class hybrid cloud blueprint and vision. It discusses challenges facing IT today such as lack of speed and efficiency. The blueprint aims to deliver a secure public, private and hybrid cloud portfolio focused on business outcomes like cost savings and faster provisioning times. Dell and VMware solutions are highlighted as providing integrated cloud infrastructures and services to simplify management and enable organizational agility through a hybrid cloud approach.
Enterprise data centres have traditionally used servers and storage that typically scale only to a few nodes. Even small capacity or performance scales required large installation increments or worse, required replicating the existing IT infrastructure, which is prohibitive in terms of cost and space. An important impediment was that as storage capacity increased, system performance and efficiency suffered. In addition, IT budgets came under pressure and created high entry barriers to scale for enterprise class data centres. However, virtualization and cloud platforms are changing that. IT departments can now linearly scale to several server and storage nodes rapidly, for capacity and performance without compromising on efficiency and to keep costs under control. This helps save space via hardware consolidation, improves productivity, and derives a competitive advantage through increased availability, lean administration, and fast deployment times.
The document compares the total cost of ownership of physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted desktops. It finds that virtual desktops can reduce costs by up to 36% over physical desktops, while cloud desktops deliver further savings of over 20% compared to on-premises virtual desktop infrastructure. On-premises VDI has high upfront infrastructure costs that offset labor savings, while cloud desktops have no infrastructure investment and provide the lowest total cost of ownership through a pay-as-you-go model.
IBM SmartCloud Entry 3.1 is cloud management software that enhances platform management for STG systems. It provides simplified deployment and customization of virtual images for end users, dramatically increasing IT efficiency through standardization and lower operations costs. SmartCloud Entry is the first tier in IBM's three-tier SmartCloud portfolio and is based on the Common Cloud Stack foundation, facilitating migration to more advanced solutions.

Essentials of Automations: Exploring Attributes & Automation ParametersSafe Software
Building automations in FME Flow can save time, money, and help businesses scale by eliminating data silos and providing data to stakeholders in real-time. One essential component to orchestrating complex automations is the use of attributes & automation parameters (both formerly known as “keys”). In fact, it’s unlikely you’ll ever build an Automation without using these components, but what exactly are they?
Attributes & automation parameters enable the automation author to pass data values from one automation component to the next. During this webinar, our FME Flow Specialists will cover leveraging the three types of these output attributes & parameters in FME Flow: Event, Custom, and Automation. As a bonus, they’ll also be making use of the Split-Merge Block functionality.
You’ll leave this webinar with a better understanding of how to maximize the potential of automations by making use of attributes & automation parameters, with the ultimate goal of setting your enterprise integration workflows up on autopilot.
