A Promising Outlook During the Proof of Concept Phase
The Champion team installed the Riverbed appliances within one week,
which enabled Prommis to test the devices with their Citrix XenApp and
Exchange environments. During the two-week pilot, Prommis realized
significant results that clearly demonstrated the potential for saving costs
in terms of bandwidth. “We had tested multiple devices from other vendors
and Riverbed proved to be the most robust and delivered the consistent
response times we were anticipating. The Steelhead product could
actually support our architecture and deliver results, whereas other
solutions just couldn’t provide similar results within our environment,”
added Meszaros.
The results of the Proof of Concept included the following key benefits:

This vast reduction in bandwidth allows Prommis employees to work at
LAN-like speeds – even when data and resources exist hundreds or
thousands of miles away in a secure, compliant and industry standard data
center facility.
Other immediate results included improved performance for users, the
ability to centralize additional applications, and reduced overhead costs on
WAN circuits by allowing additional users to utilize available bandwidth
more effectively.
Complete Rollout of Riverbed WAN Acceleration
Having proved its value, Prommis Solutions opted to implement the Riverbed WAN Optimization solutions across its multiple locations. Champion
and Riverbed performed the appropriate design and installation of the Steelhead devices to ensure a successful rollout and helped Prommis get
the most out of their investment. The initial solution consisted of seven (7) WAN Acceleration devices - two (2) large devices at their co-location
and backup data facilities, and five (5) smaller devices at their large regional locations. Champion and Riverbed also provided Professional
Services to help ensure the Prommis Solutions team gained the necessary knowledge and skill-sets needed to deploy future devices. Prommis has
since added three (3) additional devices to new locations.
