1) Many Mediterranean countries have struggled with using treated wastewater for irrigation due to poor water quality, health risks, and soil salinization issues.
2) In Tunisia, after 50 years of reuse, many irrigated areas suffer from low agricultural value and only 25% of wastewater is reused due to inadequate quality.
3) Improving wastewater treatment quality could help address these constraints to greater reuse for irrigation. Pilot projects are proposed to test tertiary treatment methods and demonstrate their effectiveness.
