The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF) announces a call for proposals totaling SEK 400 million over five years in four strategic areas: 1) predictive models and biomarkers for drug development, 2) parasite resistant trees and crops, 3) epigenetic mechanisms in disease, and 4) innate immunity and new antimicrobial agents. Selected interdisciplinary research projects will receive framework grants of SEK 4-7 million per year for salaries, supplies, etc. The goal is to fund problem-driven research with potential for exploitation in Sweden within 15 years to strengthen competitiveness.
