SUNY Broome is approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as a training facility for
veterans and other eligible students. We currently coordinate services for more than 110
veterans who are attending classes and receiving veteran's benefits; tutorial assistance; referrals
for counseling for financial, vocational and academic problems; veterans work-study job
information; and important information about resources available to them at the college.

3. GI Bill and benefits
◦ Eligible persons may receive benefits under one of several types
of G.I. Bill:
•Chapter 30 - Montgomery G.I. Bill
•Chapter 31 - Disabled Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation Program.
•Chapter 32 - Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)
Chapter 33 – Post-9/11 GI Bill
•Chapter 35 - Dependents Educational Assistance Program
•Chapter 1606 - Montgomery G.I Bill/Selected Reserve Educational
Assistance Program. Chapter 1607 - Reserve Educational Assistance
Program (REAP)

4. How a veterans educational request form
works
You put in a student email, possibly the email you’ll be given to at your college
You fill out the name last name information about your self
You then check the g.i benefit you are requesting for aid for the year of college you attend
You then fill out your major and degree you'll receive.

5. When should you submit A schedule for
certification
You should submit a schedule every semester or whenever you make a change to a current
schedule. The earlier you turn in your schedule the better.
It usually takes 10-12 weeks for the office to process certifications for you to receive the grants.
