VOICE OF THE VOICELESS

 Our story of change
                             DFC Team of SPHS
Our thought...Our deed……
     • Though there are many problems in the
society, we decided to change the lives of
those who are deprived of the God’s
       Blessings.
     • So we visited “Naba Prayash”, the school for
       hearing impaired and mentally challenged
       people, but differently abled.
                                             Understanding them

On our way to
Naba Prayash Reaching their school
Understanding them
The school runs with 58 under privileged special
children and 10 teachers.
According to them the school runs without any grant
from the govt. or any external body, so they always
face financial problems.
To meet up their expenses they have taken up certain
strategies.
We found that those children had good skills in
handwork and art and they have their own production
house where they make different items like cards,
artificial flowers, fabric paintings ,grounded spices etc.
But they do not get enough outlets to sell those items.
They feel very insecured

                            Understanding their process of
and remain unaccepted
in the society.
The education process
and treatment for these

                            education
children is very
expensive.
They were in need of
several items like

                            Realizing their abilities and
hearing aids , raw
materials for the
handicraft items and
whole grain spices, spice
grinder, computers,

                            qualities .
educational toys, paper
and crayons etc.
Our plans ………actions
Our first visit changed our vision
         towards them.
We understood that they too have
the right to live a normal life but
         they need our helping hand.
We talked to the authority of our
school and convinced them to invite
and allow Naba Prayas to set up an
         exhibition-cum-sale for five days in
         our school premises. Products like
         spices, mobile covers ,bed-sheets
, cushion covers, and cards were
displayed for sale and they made a
sale of around Rs.7,000 in those five
         days.
Their students visited our
school and interacted with all
our friends.
We arranged for a musical
session where they, along
with all our teachers and
friends had lots of fun.
After that we provided them
little refreshment and they
went back to their school.
We even promised them to
continue this process of
interaction at regular
interval.
Arranging for funds to meet up some of
                 their needs
We planned to sell ‘Aloo Chaat 'and Selling Aloo Chat
Old Newspapers to raise funds.
We collected potatoes, onions and
other spices for Aloo Chaat and old
Newspapers from all the guardians
for the above purpose.
On the scheduled day , we set up a
counter to sell Aloo Chaat , which
was made with the help of the
teachers and students. It was a great
achievement for us as we were able
to raise a fund for such a noble
cause. The old newspapers collected
were also sold. The total collection
from this two projects was Rs.3,800.
We managed to convince few people
to donate for them and we collected
sum of Rs .2000 . So, our total Selling Newspapers
collection was Rs. 5,800.
• We bought a Grinder
  and an Eyelet puncturing
  machine which were two
  of their basic
  requirements.
• We provided a mid-day
  meal to them as they
  yearn for good food.
• We thought we would Giving them meal
  bring lots of changes in
  their lives, but in course
  we found ourselves
  changed. Eyelet tool kit
Our achievements
Our mission was to bring lots of changes in their lives, but in
course we found our vision towards them changed.
We were able to bring smiles on the faces of 58 students & 10 teachers.

“I was pleased to see their eagerness about the special children. I hope they have
now become aware of the problems & limitations of handicapped children and
  their responsibility towards them.”

“The School is proud to say that our DFC participants are enlightened about a
particular problem of a segment in the society. Hoping the interaction would
make our children a perfect Human Being in future.”
