FADE IN:
EXT. WOODLAND AREA, PARK BENCH - DAY
Mid Afternoon.
A young woman [JADA] is walking her dog [SADIE] along a muddy
track.
JADA looks around with a subdued look on her face. She sights
a park bench and guides SADIE to it.
She bends down and takes the soft blue velvet lead off of her
harness.
Sadie bounds and leaps with EXCITEMENT.
Jada picks up her bag with a sloppy movement knocking debris
off of the bench. One of the items creates a loud 'KLINK' and
Jada reaches for it.
Picking up the piece of FLINT she notices how SHARP the
jagged object is and begins to carve her name on the bench.
'ENGROSSED' in this art, she pulls the flint closer to her
face to get a look at it.
She then runs her thumb over the sharp edge testing its
capability.
Directly in her line of sight behind the flint the blue lead
stands out and is more focused.
Now alert, she panics as she can no longer see or hear Sadie.
EXT. A NARROW LANE NEXT TO A WOODS - DAY
The light is constantly fading.
Jada, breathing heavily, grabs the hairband off of her wrist
and stressfully whacks her clean, brushed hair into a messy
ball of knotted strands.
She rips her coat off and wipes the sweat off of her forehead
with it then swings it over her shoulder. She picks up her
bag and begins to run the direction of the muddy TRACKS on
the ground.
CALLING out the puppy's name, her voice is strained, failing
to reach a loud volume.
The paw tracks end as there is a fork in the lane.
FLUSTERED Jada SCREAMS out Sadie's name. Tears are
beginning to fill her eyes. After spending a
moment with her fingers over her mouth
contemplating the route to take, looking
between the two, she takes the darker looking
path.
Bending over holding herself up only with her hands
on her knees, gasping for breath, she spots a
gate slightly ajar.
EXT. THE FORT - FOGGY, DAY.
Dusk.
With a hopeful look on her face she enters the fort. Her face
drops when she sees no sign of Sadie.
The fog that is swallowing up the landscape thickens and
Jada's vision grows weaker and weaker, she takes her coat
from over her shoulder and wraps it around her.
The unknown, and fading light play on her mind and tease her
anxiety. She grows desperate and reaches for her phone. In
the top left corner of her phone she sees that there is NO
SIGNAL and she cannot contact anyone.
Jada HOLDS HER PHONE UP trying to achieve signal but receives
none. The wind picks up and she runs to one of the shelters
to escape from the fog.
INT. SHELTER IN FORT - NIGHT
Early evening.
Jada is sitting with her arms around her knees in the corner
of the shelter trying to keep warm. She takes the coat from
around her and places it over her knees cuddling the hood of
it.
There are strange noises heard, the howling wind and
WHISPERING voices.
STARTLED, Jada is shocked to hear other people. She peaks
around the edge of the shelter but no one is there.
She uses the flash light on her phone and the battery runs
out. She lets out a huge sigh but before letting it get to
her she remembers the old oil lamp she saw with the light of
her phone.
Reaching into her coat pocket she pulls out a lighter and
tries lighting the lamp in the dark. She struggles with the
lighter but the determination pushes her though.
Once alight she uses it to keep warm and check out the fort.
A SHADOW steps towards her, she screams and tries to run but
TRIPS over her coat she left on the floor.
She hits her head on the wall and PASSES OUT. In doing so the
oil lamp SMASHES.
FADE OUT:
She is now dreaming after passing out.

INT. SHELTER IN FORT - NIGHT CONTINUED
Now she is dreaming after passing out. Flashbacks of the
EVENTS of the day are scanned through fading in an out from
black between each one.
INT. SHELTER IN FORT - DAY
Dawn.
Jada rolls over uncomfortably in her sleep and lays one one
of the shards of glass waking her up, STARTLED.
It is the final straw and after her dramatic night she begins
to sob uncontrollably.
SADIE
Whimpers and squeaks.
Jada tries to hold her head up, holds her hand to her head in
pain but manages to fight through it to sit up.
SADIE
Whimpers (again)
Jada realises she DID hear Sadie and struggles to get up out
of the shelter. She peers out and sees little WHITE PAWS on
the steps.
Sadie jumps and bounds towards Jada.
As Jada runs towards her she sees two old shoes (where
Sadie’s paws were) and stops still in her tracks.
Slowly her eyes look up towards the owner of the shoes and
reveals an ill dressed MAN.
She recoils and begins to step back away from the man trying
to reach for Sadie’s collar without taking her eyes off of
him.
He limps towards them and bends down to Sadie’s level and
gives Jada a slight nod and SMILE.
FROZEN, she doesn't move as his hand REACHES out to stroke
Sadie.
Sadie’s tail wags and she goes over to him, he stands back
up.
Jada takes a look at the calmness of Sadie with a stranger
and takes a step towards him. Only enough to reach Sadie’s
collar to pull her back and strap the lead on.
Jada timidly looks back at him, smiles back UNCERTAINLY.
She nods and starts to walk from the shelter to the gate to
leave the fort. She turns back and sees he is watching her.
Her eyes fixed on him through the black gate, she shuts it
completely, making a loud BANG.
Looking confused she smiles SLIGHTLY and walks home with a
confident stride.
Sadie smiles as she walks close to her owner.
