 Sultan Ahmed I was born on
18 April,1590 at Manisa Palace,ottoman
Empire.
 After his war with Persia,
Sultan Ahmed I decided to build a huge
mosque in Istanbul.
 Which reflects the architectural style of Hagia
Sophia and Byzentine church
 He died on 22 November, 1617 at Topkapi
Construction:
 Sedef Har Mehmat Aga, A royal
architecture was appointed as the in-
charge of the project.
 The construction of the mosque was
started in the rule Ahmed I in 1609 and
was completed in the rule of Mustafa I in
1616.
 Unfortunately, Sultan Ahmed was not able
to see the completion of blue mosque.
 It reflects the architectural style of both
Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia

 This mosque have five main domes and
eight secondary domes.
 This mosque comprises six pencil shaped
minarets. Four at the each corner of the
mosque and two at the corners of the
forecourt.
 Each of these pencil shaped minarets
height is 64 m (210ft).

 The interior of the mosque at lower level is
lined with 20,000 hand-made ceramic tiles
in more than 50 different tulip designs.
 And the interior of the mosque at upper
level is adorned with blue paint. More than
200 stained glass window with intricate
designs allow natural light to brighten up
it’s interior.
