This presentation will focus on the use of an eportfolio (PebblePad) to provide timely formative feedback on long case histories in seven clinical schools across the University of Sydney Medical Program. A common complaint from students and residents is that they are not given enough feedback in the clinical setting. This project was designed to offer feedback on written cases and, in addition, to gather data on who was actually viewing the presentations of long cases in the clinical setting. From 2015, a required formative assessment was introduced, consisting of eight long cases which were presented orally (with immediate feedback given by a supervisor or other staff), then written up and submitted via Pebblepad. Formative assessment was provided by a Medical Lead in each clinical school also via the eportfolio. Students had the option of reflecting on their written cases.

In 2015 the School of Nursing at Otago Polytechnic implemented Pathbrite, an ePortflio platfrm. Over the course of
the past two years hundreds of Bachelor of Nursing students have evidenced, showcased and reflected on their work
through these portflios. This implementation was formally evaluated through a research study which employed a
mixed methods sequentil explanatory design. The research demonstrated many positie and some not so positie
aspects of the implementation. A number of recommendations also arose from the project. This presentation will discuss the recommendations that arose from the research such as more support and feedback for staff and students.
This presentation will also discuss a number of infinities that arose and extend from the research. These include extending the capability of staff and students in evidencing work through a portflio through utiising other features of
the platform. Emma Collins Senior Lecturer School of Nursing, Otago Polytechnic Emma began working for OP in 2011 and holds a

Presented by Dan Thompson, Manager of Instructional Design and Educational Technology, Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences
The use of formative assessment within all types of health sciences education programs is generally acknowledged as a necessity when measuring student attainment of knowledge. However, even with this acknowledgement, there is still a general lack of understanding of the true potential, benefits, and risks of this type of assessment. The lack of formative assessments is especially true for students in their third and fourth year of clinical rotations where learning opportunities can be dependent on patient visits. This presentation will address the idea that the implementation of formative assessments during this time frame will enhance the student learning experience in clinical rotations to include the necessary content for each specific rotation, while also ensuring that clerkship objectives are consistently met each month.

This presentation session will outline how an online, self-directed, course titled ‘Diagnostic Reasoning and Care Planning’ was developed for undergraduate second year nursing students. The course was delivered in Semester 1 2014 and completed by 220 students. The course design successfully employed a range of tools in Blackboard to engage students in active, self-directed learning, supported by a series of scaffolded learning activities completed online in Blackboard, with students receiving timely, effective feedback via Grade Centre as activities were completed.
Here is the criteria and the comments that needs to be improved in.docxpooleavelina
Here is the criteria and the comments that needs to be improved in the proposal:
Topic relevance and significance. Applicability, meaningfulness, and value of the theoretical, empirical, and/or practical contribution in relation to the conference theme
· Addresses the conference theme and current issues in the field in important ways that contributes to research and/or practice. Likely to be a worthwhile session, possibly across interest groups.
Problem/Issue description. Current, with innovative research questions, practical applications.
· Current and somewhat practical, but not innovative. Attendees from specific disciplines may gain new knowledge and insights.
Literature review and references. Clear evidence-based support, with explicit citations in APA format.
· Mentions or implies practice, and/or research, but does not support with current citations.
Specific and achievable presentation outcomes. Intended outcomes and audience participation are stated in explicit terms and can be achieved in the proposed format.
· Participant outcomes are not stated, but can be inferred, and might be achieved in the proposed format
Clarity of proposal. Level of detail, organization, and focus, resulting in a professional, accessible presentation. Grammar, usage, mechanics, and APA format create professional proposal
· The proposal lacks detail, organization, and/or relevant descriptions. There are five or more errors in grammar, usage, mechanics or APA format.
Comments:
· Providing an inclusive learning environment is an important topic. More detail would be beneficial as it is unclear what skills the teachers are lacking in and although policymakers have doubts about teacher education programs providing enough support to develop skills/strategies, I would encourage you to include a study that corroborates this belief. Adding a citation with “Rightly so, many teachers lack adequate skills to work while also effectively serving special needs appropriately and promote inclusion in classrooms has been an issue in many countries, especially in USA.” would be good as well.
· The literature review did not include citations. It also was unclear how teacher education programs include a variety of targeted supports of their educators (e.g., how to handle various challenges) but “the majority of teachers will at some point develop a negative attitude.” I would suggest to add information to connect what teacher preparation programs have offered and, despite that, teachers still feel negatively. I would also encourage use of person first language (students with special needs instead of special needs students)
· The outcomes shared in this proposal seem to be at odds with the lit review. The program description described teacher prep programs as being “half-baked” but the outcomes encourage participation in a teacher prep program because “teacher preparation programs provide clear guidelines to be used when teachers engage with different types ...
Analysis of Relationship Between Associate Degree Nursing Student’s Self-Conf...Crimsonpublisherscojnh
Increasing patient acuity and complex health care demand the need for preparing competent graduate nurses. However, reduced availability of clinical setting exists translating to difficulties obtaining patient care experiences for nursingstudents. This ongoing issue demands nurse educators to seek alternative teaching strategies. High-fidelity simulation experiences can provide learning environment very similar to the clinical setting. The purpose of this descriptive co-relational quantitative research study was to examine what relationships, if any, existed between associate degree nursing students' self-confidence in learning and their perceived presence of five instructional design characteristics in a high-fidelity simulation learning experience.
The nursing students' perceived experiences were measured by the NLN (National League for Nursing) Self-Confidence in Learning and Simulation Design Survey instruments. Study participants were asked to rate the level of importance of each variable (Self-Confidence and Simulation Design Instruments) on a Likert scale with the following rating: 1= strongly disagree to 5= strongly agree. The results of this study identified students' perceptions on the importance of realism and debriefing (feedback/guided reflection) in a simulation experience. Additional findings highlighted the importance to students of definitive objectives and information, which influence their self-confidence in learning within a simulation learning environment.
It is evident the use of simulation as an educational tool is becoming more prevalent in the health care settings. This is especially important in response to the growing shortage of accessible clinical sites and available faculty. The findings of this study support the need for more quantitative research to evaluate the use of high-fidelity simulation experiences on nursing students learning outcomes

Medical Technology Tackles New Health Care Demand - Research Report - March 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) predicts that with, against, despite, and even without the global pandemic, the medical technology (MedTech) industry shows signs of continuous healthy growth, driven by smaller, faster, and cheaper devices, growing demand for home-based applications, technological innovation, strategic acquisitions, investments, and SPAC listings. MCG predicts that this should reflects itself in annual growth of over 6%, well beyond 2028.
According to Chris Mouchabhani, Managing Partner at M Capital Group, “Despite all economic scenarios that one may consider, beyond overall economic shocks, medical technology should remain one of the most promising and robust sectors over the short to medium term and well beyond 2028.”
There is a movement towards home-based care for the elderly, next generation scanning and MRI devices, wearable technology, artificial intelligence incorporation, and online connectivity. Experts also see a focus on predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory, and precision medicine, with rising levels of integration of home care and technological innovation.
The average cost of treatment has been rising across the board, creating additional financial burdens to governments, healthcare providers and insurance companies. According to MCG, cost-per-inpatient-stay in the United States alone rose on average annually by over 13% between 2014 to 2021, leading MedTech to focus research efforts on optimized medical equipment at lower price points, whilst emphasizing portability and ease of use. Namely, 46% of the 1,008 medical technology companies in the 2021 MedTech Innovator (“MTI”) database are focusing on prevention, wellness, detection, or diagnosis, signaling a clear push for preventive care to also tackle costs.
In addition, there has also been a lasting impact on consumer and medical demand for home care, supported by the pandemic. Lockdowns, closure of care facilities, and healthcare systems subjected to capacity pressure, accelerated demand away from traditional inpatient care. Now, outpatient care solutions are driving industry production, with nearly 70% of recent diagnostics start-up companies producing products in areas such as ambulatory clinics, at-home care, and self-administered diagnostics.

1. Students’ Opinions
Students feel that connecting didactic learning with
clinical experience is an almost impossible task
Barriers includes:
An existing gap that prevents students from linking
classroom information with the conditions of
patients that they care for in the clinical setting.
2. Problems faced by Nursing Institutions
Nursing institutions are faced with certain obstacles
such as:
1. unavailability of sites
2. suitability of sites
3. shortage faced by clinical resources
4. low patient ratio/acuity
These problems are main contributors to the
