This journal is my sixth journal since the course of my field study and that means I have four more journals to
complete ten. It further implies four remaining weeks of practicing my chosen career. Four more weeks of arduous
completion of lesson plans, thinking of strategies and other things that a teacher is expected to do. Most especially,
these weeks are the remaining weeks to prove yourself in terms of how you have become from the start. Speaking of
how well I’ve become, there is a question on how we measure the becoming of a teacher in terms of his efficiency. The
result of students’ assessment often answers that question, does it?
For those unaffected teachers, it may not. But for me at some point, I think it does. Knowing that my students
got low scores in their tests frustrates me a lot. I end up asking myself if I did teach well. However I always consider
the positive side. Whenever my students get out from the classroom still having the eagerness to learn motivates me
and really makes me happy. Since the start of my practice teaching, I’ve always tried to give varying procedures to assess
the learning of my students. Of course, the classic Paper and pencil test is listed on my repertoire. Here are few pictures
of my students doing their evaluation and some of their achievements.
As most of the educators say, a change in behavior is learning. I’m pertaining to the good change in behavior
when one applies all that he/she learned in his/her everyday encounters. Barely two months is not enough to see that
there was a change in behavior in my students. However, I can say that the way they view the universe and the world
around them have changed. A proof of that is this testimony of one of my students.
As a pre-service teacher, the impact of students’ assessment, achievement, and behavior to me is so great. It
transforms my mindsets every morning that I wake up. In short, they affect me and I just hope that it is an
encouragement in a good way. An encouragement to strive harder to become a real educator.
