Racial Diversity First the cons: There will be many different languages spoken in one place. New minorities bring conflicts with the residents who see them as inferior. America still viewed as a “melting pot” instead of a “diverse showcase”. Racial Diversity Now the pros: New immigrants often revive the local economies. More diverse people employed means more support for social services as people live longer. Teachers can develop curricula to promote awareness, reduce fear and reduce insecurities. Cultural Diversity What is the role of recognizing cultural diversity in our classrooms? The main job in the classroom is to teach the subject. We need to create classroom culture in order to teach more effectively We need to be open to our students’ personal cultures as well.

Ethnic Diversity Students can be ethnically divided based on several factors. Religion Culture Language Etc.
Ethnic Diversity Why teach about ethnic diversity? Develop an understanding in students about their peers.  Provide historical background on the effects of ethnicity on society. Help instill a sense of values based on ethnic diversity. Education helps decrease negative feelings toward other groups.
