Strengths and Weaknesses of Promotional Ideas
1. Promotional Ideas
1. Radio Advertisement
There were many things that were good about promoting our festival through the radio. One of the
reasons to why I thought it was this great is because lots of people will be able to get to know about
the festival. Even though it was a local radio which is in Hayes, the people that hear about it will be
able to tell others that live outside of Hayes, and that will definitely get the word out to many
people. Also through this we will be able to get all the information we need to get out very easily,
and as it was us talking ourselves, we knew exactly what to say and were able to present our
thoughts and what was going to happen at the festival successfully.
However, there was something that didn’t go according to plan. As it was the first time me and
Naveena to be on air and live on the radio we were very nervous. In my opinion this was really
evident in our voices and because of this it made the two of us sound less excited about the festival.
The whole reason to why we done this advertisement was because we wanted to get across to
people how much fun this will be and because we were so nervous we couldn’t bring that
excitement to our voices.
2.Leaflet Distribution
This was another way that I decided to promote this festival. This was really hard to prepare, but it
was really successful. This was evident from the amount of people that showed up. This was a great
way to promote the festival, because I think this was the most successful way in which we got so
many people to attend it. One of the reasons to why it was so successful is because I was able to
make it look very exciting and colourful, which would definitely urge people to attend the festival,
and see what happens- so it made people anxious. Another reason to why I think it was successful is
because it had a lot of information on the leaflet, which made sure that it was going to be a fun and
promising experience.
However, one thing that wasn’t so good about the leaflet in my opinion was the printing. When the
leaflets were printed, they didn’t look at good as I thought they would. So, if I was to do this
promotional idea again I would definitely pay more attention to the way they were printing, and
stop and see how they were printing after one of them was printed, because this way I wouldn’t
have wasted much ink.
3.Assemblies
This was a good way to promote the festival, but I feel it could have been better. The thing I think
that went well was that the students were able to know that a festival was taking place. Not only
that but they were also able to know the things that will be going on in the festival. This was
something that was really important for all the students to know, and this is because students will
most likely want to know exactly what they’re paying for and they would also want to know how
2. successful the previous festivals have been and all that information was given to them through the
promotion we done in assemblies.
There was one main concern of mine whilst I we were taking on this promotional idea. That was the
enthusiasm in our voices. As far as I know we were trying to sell the festival to all these students, but
because we didn’t sound as excited, I don’t think it had the best impact on them, and it could have
gone lot better.
4.Concourse Marketing
This was the main thing that I think made the most sales in tickets, and was the most successful
promotional idea. The reason for this was because we were talking mostly about the prizes that
could be given if they won the raffle ticket competition. This increased sales in tickets immediately
because people were interested on winning things. Another reason to why it was successful is
because we were stopping people to inform them about the festival, and this way we were really
getting the word out. Lastly, I think this was successful also because of us setting out our place on
the concourse. This itself created a lot of hype, and got a lot of attention from everyone, and this
way we got people curious about what was going on which made them ask, and we were
successfully able to talk many people into buying tickets for the festival, mainly through the raffle
prize draw. As for the negative side of this promotion, I don’t think there would be one. This is
because this was a way that we really did get people to buy tickets.
5.Posters
This was the last promotional device that we used. Through this we were able to get the basic
information across to the whole school. This was important to do, as most people were getting to
know about the festival coming up through these posters that we made. We were also able to make
the poster look really fun and this would definitely encourage people to come to the festival. As well
as that, this was good because it caught a lot of people’s attention, which made people talk about it,
and it got the message across to people about the festival taking place.
There will be only one thing that I didn’t like about this, and this is because there wasn’t as much
information on it as people wanted to know. This wouldn’t make many people pay for the ticket and
come as they don’t know what’s going on in the festival, and a bit about what’s happening.
However, that wasn’t much of a problem as the other promotional ideas were able to get the more
detailed part of the festival across.
