Stop frame animation is a technique where objects appear to move on their own through photographs taken between small incremental movements. It was first created in 1897 and involves manually moving objects between individual photos to create the illusion of movement when played as a film. Some popular examples that use stop frame animation include films by Wallace and Gromit, James and the Giant Peach, Chicken Run, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Corpse Bride.

physically manipulated object appear to move by
it’s self.
This means that we will need to move the object
of choice a small amount between individual
photograph and hopefully when all of the
photographs are put together, it will create the
illusion of movement.
