What is the STaR chart? A tool designed for use in technology planning, budgeting, and evaluation of progress of technology goals It is divided into Four domains Teaching and Learning Educator Preparation Administration and Support Infrastructure
How are we scored? Four Levels of Progress level 1  -  Early Tech level 2  -  Developing Tech level 3  -  Advanced Tech level 4  -  Target Tech
Where are we now? 2008-2009 STaR Results Teaching and Learning 12 Developing Tech Educator Preparation and Development 12 Developing Tech Leadership, Administration & Instructional Support 13 Developing Tech Infrastructure  12 Developing Tech
Where do we need to be? Teaching and Learning Teacher is a facilitator Students have on-demand access to technology All Technology Applications TEKS are met K-8
Where do we need to be? Educator Preparation and Development Regular technology supported learner centered projects Vertical alignment of Technology Applications TEKS Anytime, anywhere use of online resources 100% of educators meet SBEC standards 30% or more of budget allocated for professional development
Where do we need to be? Leadership, Admin., Instructional Support Campus plan focused on student success, supported by board and administration Technical support is 1:350 Campuses have instructional support staff Technology Allotment, e-Rate, state and federal competitive grants and local funding are available
Where do we need to be? Infrastructure for Technology There is on-demand access for every student Direct connectivity available in all rooms All rooms are connected to WAN Classrooms are fully equipped with appropriate technology
In conclusion…. The STaR chart is a tool that gives us a snapshot of where we in are in technology integration. It is also a tool to help us plan where we need to go.
