Renovation to an existing manufacturing plant in Benton
Harbor, Michigan. The design solution creates an
international image from a utilitarian building while
providing a new thermally improved “skin” . New uses
include a boardroom, reception area, parts display and
conference rooms. Improved daylighting is achieved
through existing monitor windows that had been
covered up during a previous renovation. The integrity
of the original building is maintained while updating the
exterior appearance.

3. Ya l e S o u t h H a v e n Manufacturing
Renovation to an existing manufacturing plant in
Morganfield, Kentucky. Located on a major transportation
artery, this factory is part of the town’s business image
and presents a modern architectural statement. The
design solution provides natural daylighting to the work
area, new Administrative offices, a courtyard and new
meeting areas for visiting Automotive representatives. This
design was awarded an American Institute of Architects award
for design excellence.

4. Dawson Manufacturing Company
Located in a former fruit orchard, now an industrial park,
Dawson Manufacturing relocated from the American South
East to the manufacturing center of Michigan. This new
facility provides a combination of manufacturing space and
Administrative offices. The design solution provides
natural daylighting to the factory areas, visual connections
between manufacturing and administration as well as
updated manufacturing presses and efficient workflow.

5. Carmi Rubber Mixing Plant
This rubber mixing plant provides the support and
material supply for the entire Yale South Haven
Manufacturing companies manufacturing plants, located
primarily in the Midwestern part of the US. This facility is
located on a major transportation route and is the symbol
of the manufacturing center of the town of Carmi. This
facility provides administrative support, a testing
laboratory for quality control, rubber mixing and storage,
and an efficient workflow allowing for the manufacturing
and distribution of specialty formulated rubber.

6. Basilica Court Apartments
New apartment complex located on the site of a former
convent, school and Performance Arts Space. The project
includes 250 rental units, community space, and
underground structured parking. This design solution
maintains the integrity of the site, renovates and restores
an historically significant brick school house, and maintains
the original footprint of the existing structures. The design
includes a 9 story tower and an 11 story tower creating a
balanced and varied architecture respectful to the
neighborhood.

7. Heritage Commons Complex
Mixed Use complex design including; office space, retail
spaces, apartment housing, a service hotel, entertainment,
daycare, structured parking, and open green space. This
competition winning scheme revitalizes a section of
Boston that has been declining during the past 15 years.
This design solution is provides a missing component and
link to the City, bringing life and enterprise back to this
section of Boston. This project provides an economic
stimulus to a State owned site and energizes a neglected
yet very important Boston neighborhood.

9. Irving Street Artist Apartments
This restoration project creates artist live work studio
spaces in a former Catholic Convent that is still part of
a religious campus of buildings. 12 ownership
apartments are created in addition to work studios
located separately from the living quarters. The
complex brings new life to a section of the Malden,
Massachusetts commercial district.

10. M i d w ay S t u d i o s A r t i s t L i ve Wo r k
Restoration and renovation to a complex of brick and
wood beam warehouse buildings in the Seaport District of
Boston, providing 90 live work artist studios. This section
of Boston is home to the artist community and recently
zoned as an innovation district by the city. The complex
includes a Performance Art space, a Fine Arts Gallery,
Dance Studios, and a Cafe. The project is on the register
of historic buildings and won a preservation award from
the Massachusetts Preservation Alliance.

11. Victoria National Golf Club
Clubhouse, Pro Shop, and Maintenance facility for the
Victoria National Golf Club, a Championship PGA course
located on the site of a former stone quarry. The project is
representative of a “mining” style of architecture and
provides a dining space, locker rooms, multiple lounges,
meeting rooms, and an apartment for the owner. The
planning and siting of the golf course and members
clubhouse, creates a substantial natural forest preserve for
the community, and creates a water containment area and
natural “rain garden” for green water management.

12. La Perla Lingerie Showroom
An Italian lingerie showroom located in an
historically significant building, facing the Boston
Public Garden and part of a residential
condominium complex.
The location of this showroom extends an existing
fashionable shopping retail street in the historic
“Back Bay” section of Boston.

13. Devlins Restaurant
A contemporary urban restaurant located in
Brighton, one of the several districts of Boston. This
project was a conversion of an aging existing building
into a new business use, with financing assistance
from the Boston “Mainstreets” program, designed to
encourage new business development in the cities
neighborhoods.

14. Samurai Japanese Restaurant
A contemporary and stylish urban Japanese / Korean
restaurant located in the historic Boston’s “Back
Bay” section. This conversion of an existing
restaurant into a new environment used sustainable
low VOC materials and followed LEED guidelines for
commercial space.

15. Infinium Software Company
Commercial interior for an Infinium software
sales and training office, located in Chicago. Use
of color and warm materials gives a welcoming
feel to the interior.

16. ArcLight Capital Partners
Commercial interior for a private equity and
hedge fund financial brokerage company. Use of
glass, stainless steel and wood gives a
contemporary and modern feeling.

17. Boston Private Industry Council
Commercial interior for a non profit organization that
helps under privileged young students excel in the
Boston Public school system. Built in a former
warehouse, the interior features a two level space
divided by a large structural truss existing in the space.
Steel, glass and brick materials gives an urban
contemporary feeling to the interior. The configuration
of office and open office areas through the use of glass
partitions and screened skylights, provides natural
daylighting.

18. 40 Channel Center Redevelopment
STA purchased this1800 era Warehouse in 2008. The building
is located within an historic district and the building is listed on
the National Historic Register. The building has been
redeveloped into a mixed use office / retail building that
contains STA’s corporate office, several rental floors, and a
restaurant on the main floor. The renovation followed LEED
Silver certification and includes such strategies as heat recovery
systems, energy efficient lighting and controls, high efficiency
gas boilers, reclaimed construction materials, daylighting, and
low VOC finishes. This project has been submitted for
recognition by the Preservation Alliance of Boston.
40 Channel Center Redevelopment

19. 90 Smith Street Redevelopment
Renovation to a former Christian mission school into office
and meeting space for the Harvard School of Public Health.
Exterior work included masonry restoration, new windows,
and repair of historically significant details. Interior
renovations included the retention of the monumental
stairways, installation of an elevator, all new building systems
using energy efficient lighting and mechanical systems.
This project was awarded LEED Silver Certification and was
recognized by the Boston Preservation Alliance with a
Neighborhood Preservation Achievement award 2011.

20. Bethel Baptist Church
Design Study for a Baptist Church and worship center
located in an urban site donated to the Bethel Baptist
Congregation by the City of Boston. The Church contains
a 1000 seat sanctuary, gymnasium, chapel with private
courtyard, classrooms, and administrative offices. The
building will provide community spaces and meeting areas
open to the neighborhood.
This project when complete will become an important
part of the street scape and creates activity and life to a
neglected site.

21. Concord Baptist Church
Design study for a Baptist Church located in an urban
brownfield site. The project will be LEED certified
Silver level and includes such sustainable strategies as
natural daylighting, geothermal heating, high efficiency
lighting, green roofs, and rain water storage and
management system.
The project is under review by the Boston
Redevelopment Authority.

22. Charlestown Armory Renovation
Design study for a Mixed Use residential complex in an
unused military armory. This project creates 44 new
residential units, both single level units and duplex units,
and townhouse style units ranging from 900 sf to 1500 sf .
There is underground parking below the main level and
townhouse units accessible from the lowest level. The
project includes surface parking, two urban parks, green
roofs and a “walking street” through the site. This street
unites two residential neighborhoods and provides access
to the commercial section of Charlestown.

23. Bartlett Square
Design study for a Mixed Use residential and retail
complex located on a former industrial site in Boston.
This project creates 13 new residential units, both single
level units and duplex units ranging from 900 sf to 1500 sf.
Underground parking is located below the main level and
three retail spaces accessible from the street level.
The project includes 7 surface parking spaces, roof
gardens, a street level outdoor dining area and direct
access to public transportation. This project, when
complete, will submit for Silver Level LEED certification.

24. 4 0 1 W e s t F i r s t
Design study for a residential and retail complex located
on a former industrial site in South Boston. This project
creates 40 new residential units, both single level units and
duplex units ranging from 900 sf to 1500 sf. Parking is
located below the first level and provides several retail
spaces accessible from the sidewalk.
The project includes sustainable design featuring a roof
gardens a street level outdoor landscape courts and direct
access to public transportation. This project, when
complete, will submit for Silver Level LEED certification.

25. Mission Hill Housing
Multi family housing projects located in the Mission Hill
section of Boston. These units are located on “infill” sites
and are designed to blend into the fabric of the existing
neighborhood. Units range from 2 bedroom units to 4
bedroom units.

26. Binford Green Urban Park
In collaboration with
LANDD, International
Urban park recognizing established pedestrian traffic routes
through a vacant former parking lot. The park unites an
existing residential neighborhood and becomes the “front
door” to a new commercial development “Channel Center”.
All plantings used are native to the area, require little
landscape maintenance, and are drought tolerant species. The
planting beds create conversation rooms using existing granite
sea-wall blocks for seating. 4 multi-stem River Birches define
the entrance to an office building abutting the site.

28. 40 Channel Center

An urban park feature wall, serves to provide visual screening for
several mechanical units and temporary recycling storage bins
for 40 Channel Center (40CC), part of a larger development
project called “Channel Center”.
The strong red color adds visual interest to an existing urban
park located adjacent to 40CC. Additionally, ornamental
grasses, River Birch trees, and wood benches compliment and
extend the existing urban park. Patterned holes located above
the benches are filled with lighted acrylic panels and reference a
unique lighting pattern existing on the historic 40CC building.

29. Channel Center Parking Garage
Structured precast parking garage serving Channel Center
Development and State Street Bank’s new Headquarters located
in the Fort Point Channel Area of Boston, newly named the
“Innovation District”. The 9 story garage has 970 parking
spaces, bicycle storage, electric car recharging stations, alternate
energy spaces, LED lighting and public restrooms serving the
adjacent newly built park.
The facade is composed of painted and unpainted stainless steel
mesh panels in a 3 Dimensional pattern that activates the facade.
The facade will be lighted with programmed LED fixtures.

30. Chengdu China Competition
Design study for a Mixed Use complex including;
commercial office, retail shopping center, apartments, and
structured parking. The site is located at a prominent
intersection and the twisted shape uses Feng Shui
principals to resolve the spiritual energy of the
intersection. This building will be provide a landmark
structure in Chengdu, China.

31. To n g z h o u C h i n a
Mixed Use Development
Schematic design plan for a Mixed Use development East of
Beijing, China. Program includes Retail, Hospitality, Residential,
and Urban Landscape.
The solution is an investigation into sustainable practices
including; solar screening, green roofs, living walls, water
management, Geo-Thermal heating and double wall glass
technologies.

32. Lihucheng Residential Development
Guangzhou, China

This project is designed at the edge of Yujazhuang Reservoir. The
dam design is based on several European bridge models .
A residential community in Guangzhou, China developed in 3
phases surrounding a large reservoir. The dam connects area A
to area C1, providing vehicular and pedestrian access. The new
residential area C1 is presented as a European classical design
community with references to Italian and French styles. This
dam design element will provide a strong visual identity to the
new community.

33. Suffolk University Dormitory
Sketch for an urban dormitory located on an historic
site in the “Beacon Hill” section of Boston. Project
was selected in an invited competition held by the
University.

34. Arizona Heritage Museum
Competition
Museum competition for a Native American Heritage
Museum located in Phoenix, Arizona. The program
includes exhibit space, meeting areas, research rooms
and administrative offices.
The design reflects the native Indian population and
uses the mountain “cave dwellings” as a design
reference. The Administration wing uses the imagery
of a rock cliff face. Screened courtyards provides
shade and are open to natural ventilation.
