SSDs have no moving parts and retrieve data at the same speed from any part of the memory. They store data by controlling electron movement in NAND chips. SSDs provide advantages over hard drives like faster operation, ability to read and erase single bytes, reliability, lighter weight, low power consumption, and thinness. However, SSDs have disadvantages like limited write operations per day and higher costs. Flash memory is also used in USB drives and memory cards, providing portable storage. It has advantages of compact size and robustness but also has disadvantages of limited write cycles, potential data loss if improperly removed, and lower storage capacities than hard drives.

2. SSD have no moving parts and all data are recovered
at the same rate. They store data by controlling the

made of a single building blocks of many eletronic
circuits

3. SSDs using EEPROM use NOR chips (2).
ADVANTAGES:
• Faster in operation
• Allows data to be read or

4. ADVANTAGES of SSD:
• More reliable
• Considerably lighter
• They start to work prperly with no problems
• Low power consumption
• They are very thin

DISADVANTES of SSD:
• It cannot do a huge number of write operations/day.

5. Memory sticks/pens drive can store several GB.
Some expensive software now uses the portable flash
drives as a form of security, they are plugged into a
computer using USB port and are known as dongles. If
a hacker tries to hack the system will have break the
dongle code first.

• TRANSPORT FILES FROM ONE DEVICE TO ANOTHER
• USED AS BACK UP STORE
• USED AS SECURETY DEVICE (DONGLE)

• Very compact and portable
• Very robust
• Works at any computer
• They are not affected by
magnetic field
DISADVANTAGES:
• Can’t write – protect the
data
•Easy to lose
• If it’s removed incorrectly
(it will corrupt the data
inside it)
