This document outlines a teaching manual for a lesson on negative numbers for 8th standard students. The learning outcomes are for students to acquire knowledge about negative numbers, develop comprehension of subtracting two negative numbers, and recognize the importance of negative numbers in mathematics and daily life. The lesson presentation will explain subtracting negative numbers through examples. It will then generalize the rules and apply them to additional examples to solve for the value of expressions with negative numbers. A review and follow-up activities are included at the end.

This document summarizes the author's experience visiting a Korean pool hall in Los Angeles. The pool hall was located on the second floor of a shopping center occupied entirely by Korean-owned stores. Most patrons and employees spoke only Korean and did not understand English well. The author observed that only men played pool at this location and they focused intensely on their games while chain smoking. The pool hall had both regular pocket tables and tables for a strategic Korean three-ball game without pockets. While the atmosphere was serious, the author was unable to understand the social context of the activities due to the language barrier.
Understanding Compliance and Market Options for Transportation FuelsThe Climate Trust
This document provides an overview of offsets and their role in California's cap-and-trade program. It discusses that offsets provide cost control for covered entities, promote emissions reductions outside the cap, and encourage low carbon technologies. It outlines the process for developing offset projects, including verification and issuance of offset credits. It notes a potential shortage of offset supply and discusses new project types that could help address this, such as mine methane and rice cultivation. Finally, it reviews the different compliance instrument options and how their value varies based on project stage and liability period.
Last month Oregon passed a Clean Fuels Program, that credits renewable fuels for their greenhouse gas reductions. This presentation discusses the potential value of those credits to Oregon biogas projects, and the potential future for Washington to follow Oregon and California's lead and create its own Low Carbon Fuel Standard.
Environmental Markets and Biogas: Valuing Climate BenefitsThe Climate Trust
This document summarizes environmental markets and credits for biogas from dairy digesters. It discusses three potential markets: (1) carbon offsets under California's cap-and-trade program, (2) low carbon fuel credits under California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard, and (3) Renewable Identification Numbers under the federal Renewable Fuel Standard. For each market, it provides details on eligible biogas uses, buyers, prices, generation and ownership of credits. Overall, it finds the average price per gallon of diesel equivalent is highest for LCFS credits ($0.52) and lowest for carbon offsets ($0.21), with RIN prices in between ($1.50). Financing challenges and the increasing importance
Michael Vorobiof is a 32-year-old man from Georgia who has been living in the US for four months. He works as a waiter at a banquet hall restaurant with his older brother. Michael speaks Russian, Turkish, Kurdish, Hebrew, and some English. At work, he enjoys cleaning knives and playing card games. Though quiet about himself, Michael has become friends with his interviewer through their shared work. He is known among coworkers for his good coffee and humor, though some disagree with his views on health.
This document outlines a 5-day lesson plan to teach first grade students about using money. On day 1, students will review math skills and learn about coin names and values. Day 2 focuses on using apps to identify coins and practice using money in a simulated store. Day 3 incorporates arts, crafts, and robotics to teach the concept of saving money. Days 4 and 5 allow students to create their own stores, set prices, and practice using money to buy items from each other. The lesson aims to help students identify coins/bills, understand money's practical uses, and know currency facts through hands-on activities and technology.
Nitrogen fertilizer reduction for Dianchi Lake in ChinaThe Climate Trust
The Climate Trust is exploring the potential to generate carbon credits from changes in agricultural nutrient management practices. This work has most recently led our executive director, Sean Penrith, to Portland's sister city of Kunming in Yunnan Province. The goal of the trip was to scope the potential to harness the power of the country's new emissions trading systems to reduce agricultural runoff pollution in one of the province's major water sources, Dianchi Lake. The following presentation outlines the problem, and how carbon markets might be able to help.
The document defines character education as an umbrella term used to teach children how to develop morally, civically, and socially. It covers developing morals, ethics, manners, respect and interpersonal skills. These traits are crucial for students to function as responsible citizens. The document discusses how character education is important for using technology in the classroom, as students must understand how to use technology appropriately. It provides an activity where students will post compliments on social media and see how rumors can spread, then have to use character education skills to resolve it.
An Introduction to Carbon Offsets, Markets and ProjectsThe Climate Trust
The document provides an outline and information about carbon offset projects. It discusses that The Climate Trust was founded in 1997 to acquire carbon offsets for new power plants regulated by the Oregon Carbon Dioxide Standard. It developed processes to evaluate, quantify, verify and register offset projects. The document also discusses the types of offset projects including forestry, agriculture, cookstoves, and fertilizer. It provides examples of offset projects in Latin America.

The Climate Trust is a non-profit carbon management firm that has managed over $20 million in carbon funding for projects in ten sectors across nine states and two countries. It aims to accelerate innovative climate solutions by providing expertise, financing, and inspiration. To meet the goal of limiting global warming to 2 degrees C, global emissions need to be capped at 1,000 gigatons by 2100; however, half of that carbon budget has already been emitted by 2011. Aggressively implementing building codes and standards that meet 2030 efficiency targets can dramatically reduce emissions and transform the building sector into a solution for climate change.
Presentation by The Climate Trust's Program Manager, Peter Weisberg, at the Sustainable Food Trade Association. Presentation includes: the basics of biogas, project case studies; and the climate benefit of biogas.
The document discusses sewing patterns and projects from Sewlover.com in 2010. It lists the sizes of various sewing patterns which are between 10-12cm. It also notes that the patterns are 97% cotton and includes the copyright for Sewlover.com in 2010 at the end of each section.
