Intonation
The aim of all speech is to send the message loud and clear through various means. Like
stress and rhythm, intonation is also a means of conveying the message.
When we speak, the pitch of our voice keeps on changing, sometimes it goes up or high
and sometimes it is down or low. This change in pitch is not totally aimless or without any
purpose. It is called intonation.

Lesson 3.3
The Importance Of Learning English
Frankly speaking, it is highly essential to know the language for communication. In
general, the most popular language is English. In this computer age, English is the
only language that any one can understand. So to say, it has become as an ideal
language for expressing our feelings.
By learning English language you can develop your self confidence and it adds up
to your personality. It’s a bit tough to learn something which we haven’t learned
since our childhood. Those wishing to earn those extra dollars will have to take a
plunge in this insight into that culture’s history and people as well.
There can be many reasons to learn a foreign language like giving a competitive
edge to their careers. Multilingual students are offered better careers and business
opportunities. Knowing a foreign language can increase one’s chances of securing
an admission to a college of his/her choice. Learning a foreign language opens up a
whole new dimension. It will definitely have a positive effect on your mental
growth and development. With the advent of the global marketplace, having a
second or even third language on a resume is almost a requirement of the job-
seeking professional.
For those who are in business with global presence learning a foreign language
becomes all the more important. Many fields such as the travel industry,
communications, advertising, education and engineering have sectors dealing with
foreign language study. There are lots of opportunities in the service industry as
well. With mushrooming call centers learning other languages definitely helps in
ones career.
Marketing executives who travel across the globe should learn more than one
foreign language. Foreign language also helps in expanding social circle and
business contacts. Overall the learning of a language which is...
