India Renewable Energy and Solar Photovoltaic Market - Opportunities for US C...privg
India has targeted 20GW of Solar Power by 2022 in its Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. With more than 300 days of sunshine annually and a large customer base, India offers a great potential for off-grid PV deployments such as rural lighting and electrification, powering irrigation pump sets, back-up power generation for cellular towers, captive power generation, urban applications and highway lighting. This, combined with investor friendly policies and solar energy promotion, provides the right platform for growth.
The objective of this white paper is to provide inputs and intelligence for the manufacturing activities in India for the solar PV ecosystem – for both crystalline and thin film technologies while addressing the question of which technology is most suitable under Indian conditions from a regulatory, financial and technical perspective. The topics discussed spans the entire value chain which includes
c-Si Value Chain
Polysilicon
Wafer
Cells
Modules
Thin Film Technologies
a-Si
CdTe
CIGS/CIS
detailed technological comparison of the available module technologies i.e. c-Si and Thin Film has been undertaken along with a comparative analysis of the financials that goes into the manufacturing of modules using either technology.
In addition to the traditional manufacturing options in the value chain, the paper provides critical insight into other, lesser treaded avenues such as raw material manufacturing, machineries and equipment manufacture and other non-core solar products such as glasses, solar grade cables etc. The report is rounded off with an insightful analysis of the policy regime existent in terms of what has been done and what needs to be done to nurture the development of a complete solar PV ecosystem

To mitigate the sector’s market and financial barriers, the Indian Government has sought climate financing from international banks. Additionally, with technical assistance programs, the early market-related risks and challenges, such as lack of experience and technical knowledge amongst the key stakeholders are to be overcome in order to accelerate deployment of rooftop solar.
The scope of this briefing note is to provide an understanding of the current state of grid-connected rooftop solar financing in the country and, in particular, in Tamil Nadu. It evaluates the state of the international lines of credit, its implementation at state level (for Tamil Nadu), and the availability and accessibility of the financial support. Through this, the document aims to identify possible gaps and challenges existing today in financing rooftop solar.
As the U.S. solar market expands, we hope that Solar Market Insight will provide an invaluable decision-making tool for installers, suppliers, investors, policymakers and advocates alike. Purchase the full report at GTM research: http://www.greentechmedia.com/research/ussmi

1847 Holdings LLC, a publicly traded diversified acquisition holding company, was founded by Ellery W. Roberts, a former partner of Parallel Investment Partners, Saunders Karp & Megrue and Principal of Lazard Freres Strategic Realty Investors. EFSH's investment thesis is that capital market inefficiencies have left the founders and/or stakeholders of many small business enterprises and lower-middle market businesses with limited exit options, despite the intrinsic value of their business. Given this dynamic, EFSH can consistently acquire "solid" businesses for reasonable multiples of cash flow and then deploy resources to strengthen the infrastructure and systems to improve operations. These improvements may lead to a sale or IPO of an operating subsidiary at considerably higher valuations than the purchase price (as successfully demonstrated with the mid-2020 IPO of 1847 Goedeker on the NYSE American) and/or alternatively, an operating subsidiary may be held in perpetuity and contribute to EFSH's ability to pay regular and special dividends to shareholders.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
