The tribe lived in the Four Corners region of the American Southwest, a dry area near mountains where water was scarce. They spoke the same language and were skilled farmers who lived in semicircular masonry houses built into cliffs and caves. They farmed corn and other crops, created pottery, baskets, and kachina dolls, and celebrated ceremonies with dances and kachina spirits.
