2. The People
• The Inuit live in Nunavut, the Northwest
Territories, and northern Quebec.
3. Foods
• The Inuit ate caribou. They ate the fat, bones,
and blood.
• The Inuit ate an Arctic char. The char could
be ate raw, frozen, dried, or cooked.
• Vegetables could not be grown in the Arctic
so they collected nuts and berries.
• Bannock is a kind of bread that the Inuit made
cooked on a stick.
• Pemmican was made from meat, animal fat,
and berries.
4. Homes
• In the Winter Inuit built igloos .The igloos
were built from blocks of ice. As they
stacked the blocks it formed a circle then
it became a dome then a igloo.
• In the summer Inuit built tents. The tents
were made from whale bones.
5. Clothing
• Inuit's jackets were called parkas. Inuit's parka’s
were made from caribou hides .Women's parkas
had a pouch to hold their babies.
• Inuit's pants were made from caribou hides. The
warm pants protected from the cold wind ,ice,
and snow
• Inuit's mittens were made from sealskin. The
sealskin was water proof.
• The Inuit's boots were called kamiks. Kamiks
worn on land were made from caribou skin.
Kamiks worn in water were made from seals
skin.
6. Tools
• Inuit made unaq. Unaq was a kind of harpoon.
The unaq was used to catch whales and seals.
• The Inuit made a tool called nitsiq. The nitsiq
was used to pull animals out of the water.
• Inuit made wooden goggles. There was slits on
the goggles so the Inuit could see.
• Komatiks were sleds that were pulled by one or
more dogs.
• Kayaks were boats that were used for hunting
and fishing. Umiaks were bigger boats, they
carried people and goods.
