Cognitive Sexuality Affective Practice
What is Sexuality Education?  Sexuality education is a lifelong process of acquiring information and forming attitudes, beliefs, and values. It encompasses sexual development, sexual and reproductive health, interpersonal relationships, affection, intimacy, body image, and gender roles.  *Siecus
What are the goals of school-based sexuality education?  The primary goal of school-based sexuality education is to help young people build a foundation as they mature into sexually healthy adults. School-based sexuality education should be designed to complement and augment the sexuality education children receive from their families, religious and community groups, and health care professionals. Such programs should respect the diversity of values and beliefs represented in the community.
What are the goals of school-based sexuality education?  Sexuality education should assist young people in understanding a positive view of sexuality, provide them with information and skills for taking care of their sexual health, and help them make sound decisions now and in the future.
Sexuality Education Six key concepts developed by the SIECUS:  	Key Concept 1: Human Development. 	Human development is characterized by the interrelationship between physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth.  Key Concept 2: Relationships.  	Relationships play a central role throughout our lives. Key Concept 3: Personal Skills. 	Healthy sexuality requires the development and use of specific personal and interpersonal skills. Key Concept 4: Sexual Behavior. 	Sexuality is a central part of being human, and individuals express their sexuality in a variety of ways. 	Key Concept 5: Sexual Health. 	The promotion of sexual health requires specific information and attitudes to avoid unwanted consequences of sexual behavior. Key Concept 6: Society and Culture 	Social and cultural environments shape the way individuals learn about and express their sexuality.
Cognitive Positive Youth Development Affective Practice
Positive Youth Development Positive Youth Development is holistic in its approach by addressing both protective factors and risk factors. Positive Youth Development shifts the dialogue from one that just focuses on youth with problems to one that asks how communities can help youth develop the confidence, competence, compassion, connections and character to contribute in meaningful ways so that they grow up into healthy adults.

  • 9. What is Sexuality Education? Sexuality education is a lifelong process of acquiring information and forming attitudes, beliefs, and values. It encompasses sexual development, sexual and reproductive health, interpersonal relationships, affection, intimacy, body image, and gender roles. *Siecus
  • 10. What are the goals of school-based sexuality education? The primary goal of school-based sexuality education is to help young people build a foundation as they mature into sexually healthy adults. School-based sexuality education should be designed to complement and augment the sexuality education children receive from their families, religious and community groups, and health care professionals. Such programs should respect the diversity of values and beliefs represented in the community.
  • 11. What are the goals of school-based sexuality education? Sexuality education should assist young people in understanding a positive view of sexuality, provide them with information and skills for taking care of their sexual health, and help them make sound decisions now and in the future.
  • 12. Sexuality Education Six key concepts developed by the SIECUS: Key Concept 1: Human Development. Human development is characterized by the interrelationship between physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth. Key Concept 2: Relationships. Relationships play a central role throughout our lives. Key Concept 3: Personal Skills. Healthy sexuality requires the development and use of specific personal and interpersonal skills. Key Concept 4: Sexual Behavior. Sexuality is a central part of being human, and individuals express their sexuality in a variety of ways. Key Concept 5: Sexual Health. The promotion of sexual health requires specific information and attitudes to avoid unwanted consequences of sexual behavior. Key Concept 6: Society and Culture Social and cultural environments shape the way individuals learn about and express their sexuality.

  • 14. Positive Youth Development Positive Youth Development is holistic in its approach by addressing both protective factors and risk factors. Positive Youth Development shifts the dialogue from one that just focuses on youth with problems to one that asks how communities can help youth develop the confidence, competence, compassion, connections and character to contribute in meaningful ways so that they grow up into healthy adults.
